Learn of the Dao of Alchemy! ISSTH chapter 254!

We take a short break from the Chronicles of Baby Deathblade for a quick Chinese lesson. I've decided to highlight some of the more interesting, and also frequently repeated, Chinese expressions from ISSTH. One of them appears in this very chapter. If you're interested in that sort of thing, check out the rest of the post. If you only care about stories of super cute Cultivator babies, then wait for the next chapter release. Don't worry, plenty of stories to come from Baby Deathblade ;-P

Chapter 254: Thunder Across a Plain Translator: Deathblade - Contributing Editors: Madam Deathblade, John Rogers - Proofreaders: Lingson, MeeBoo and Yascob

This is the fifth guaranteed chapter of the week! P.S. Obviously there will be sponsored chapters this week, once I finish posting the seven free guaranteed chapters. P.P.S. Beware of the sneak peek chapter!!!!!!

One of Er Gen's pet phrases is something I'm translating as "in a voice that could sever nails and chop iron." The original Chinese idiom is 斩钉截铁 zhǎn dīng jié tiě. The less direct translation of the meaning of this colorful expression is "resolute and decisive, unhesitating, categorical." In the past, I added some extra explanatory words to the translation, i.e. "... said Meng Hao resolutely, in a voice that could sever nails and chop iron." Later, I chose just to go with the literal translation of the idiom, since I had explained it in the text earlier.
