Feature Read: A Blind Swordman’s Sword Coffin + Emoji Challenge Announcement!
Hey all! ChaCha here!
As many of you have guessed, there's a site wide event right now.
Being friends for years, me and Doge have partnered up to not only promote each other's novels, but also decided to bring you guys the Emoji Challenge!
First up, about Doge's current novel: A Blind Swordman’s Sword Coffin
This is a cultivation wuxia novel focused on the main character Li Guanqi's journey to immortality. Li Guanqi was born blind, growing up desolate in an abusive household. After his mother was killed in a tragic event, a mysterious old man took him under his wing and started training him. Before they parted when Li Guanqi came of age, the old man gave him a sword coffin with a sword spirit inside.
A typical cultivation novel for those who like that sort of novels. The MC is loyal to himself, his friends, and his sect, so it is great for people who like these qualities in a novel MC. The translation is great, and I like that the MC is intelligent enough to solve problems on his own, and he is backed by an equally intelligent and kind sect master. It is not the typical 'everyone-bullies-the-MC-and-the-MC-hates-everyone' novel; instead it focuses on brotherhood and friendship.
Initially, the author really made Li Guanqi's childhood very sad to tug on the reader's heartstrings. As the chapters go by, he grows into a righteous main character who stands up to bullies and helps his friends. I like that it has some comedic tones in it, and nice slice of life chapters. There are some similarities of it with my novel. I would say the MC shared the same tragic background in the first place, and how they quickly rose to power with their innate talent. Also, it’s a novel to read with your brain shut at the end of the day. Something to vent some steam out after a long day of work.
Differences wise... Well, the clearest difference is naturally the setting in which it takes place. BSSC takes place in ancient times where cultivation and the murim is the norm, while TPG takes place in another civilization where the denizens have God, or God-like powers and could nurture core races to fight for them. Still though, having a sword coffin, and a sword spirit inside is pretty unique… At least it's not present in my novel.
Do try your hands in giving BSSC a read, because it would be relevant to our upcoming event, the Emoji Challenge!
