Hi everyone! I’m Deborah, and I’ll be your translator for Not a Regressor!

This is my second novel that I’m translating, and I think I’ve gotten the hang of the basics in translating fantasy novels, but I’m still far from perfect. For those of you who don’t know, I’ve worked as an interpreter before for clinics, banks, and insurance companies, and that’s what really got me into putting my Korean and English skills to good use. 

I’m your typical Korean-Canadian, who immigrated to Canada at the age of six, and with the help of my Korean community, I was able to keep my Korean intact. Though I do prefer to speak Konglish most of the time. Since I’ve started translating, I found that there are so many more words in Korean that literally just don’t exist in English, which makes my life a lot harder smh. But do not worry, I will gather every cell in my brain to translate to the best of my ability, which also includes bothering the NR team a whole lot. I would also like to thank J.Andie for giving me this novel to translate; INVICTUM, Luke, and now Mike for editing my translation and patching up my lack of better word choices; and of course, Retired Penguin for always being there and giving valuable feedback.

Anyway, so far, this novel has been interesting in the sense that the story always keeps you on edge since you don’t know what’s about to come next. Especially since the protagonist is lying about being a Regressor, one wrong word and he could be exposed. I’ve been pretty enticed when translating the first few chapters, but besides all the tense aspects, there are also emotional and heartwarming scenes that make this novel more exciting to translate.
