Chapter 10 - Test Difficulty

Liu Letian frowned as he sat down in the meeting room.

There were eleven other homeroom teachers that taught the same year as him within the meeting room.

“I’m sure everyone has heard about the class change request by Han Wu, Qin Shuang, and Zhang Xiaolong. We have been given the authority to decide on how difficult the test would be. Does anyone have any thoughts?”

One of the homeroom teachers who was on bad terms with Liu Letian taunted him. “Thoughts? Well I have just the one. Thank you, Mr Liu! Your generosity to give us three of your best students is an incredibly kind gesture.”

Liu Letian's lips curled from the bitterness that he felt from deep within. The previous day, Xu Mei had scolded him extensively because of the three stellar students in his class who had simultaneously requested to change classes. Because of that, he had lost his bonus for this semester.

Liu Letian blamed everything on Han Wu. If he hadn’t been so adamant in changing classes Qin Shuang and Zhang Xiaolong wouldn’t have changed classes too.

“I don’t care about the difficulty of Qin Shuang and Zhang Xiaolong’s test, but I request that the difficulty for Han Wu’s test be raised to the highest difficulty. I want to punish the students that do not respect their teachers! I have never once sought trouble with everyone here in the past. I hope that everyone here will give me a chance and grant me this wish,” one of the homeroom teachers said.

Some of the homeroom teachers were tempted to set an example here, and to gain a favor from Liu Letian.

Han Wu was capable of giving them a stellar bonus, but it was undeniable that he didn’t have any backing.

As a result, Han Wu was like a dewdrop that could disappear at any time.

Being able to get Liu Letian to owe them a favor would potentially be far more advantageous to them as a group than for a single one of them to gain a reward.

But some of the homeroom teachers weren’t convinced. “Han Wu has a Heroic life form in his divine realm. I’m sure everyone here knows what that means.”

Liu Letian retorted, “But that Heroic life form isn’t his core race. His core race is still the lowly locust.”

After going back and forth, most of the homeroom teachers had made their decision.

“Mr. Liu, I don’t like those that would repay kindness with malice. I will help you.”

“Han Wu was your student and yet he would go back against you. A student who could betray you could betray anyone here in the future. I agree that he should be punished.”

“I agree too.”

In the end, ten out of twelve homeroom teachers agreed that Han Wu should be given the most difficult test. One of the homeroom teachers forfeited their vote while the other disagreed outright. But the decision of the two teachers was useless here.

The result of the vote was final. Han Wu would be given the most difficult test. Even Xu Mei couldn’t change anything now.

Class soon started. Han Wu, Qin Shuang, and Zhang Xiaolong were called out from the classroom.

Liu Letian took three cards and gave them to the three students. Xu Mei was overlooking the entire process when she noticed that the exam cards were different.

Both Qin Shuang and Zhang Xiaolong were given cards emblazoned with a large “one.” That meant that the difficulty of their tests were set at the lowest possible level. All they needed to do was to lead their core race to victory against an invasion of 1000 units.

But Han Wu was given a card with the number ten. That meant he was assigned the hardest test.

If Han Wu wanted to pass this test, he had to defeat 10,000 units—that was a whole ten times more than the others!

Even though the invading race was selected randomly, a weak race would never be selected for the highest difficulty.

Given his lowered number of troops and the sheer amount of invading troops, this test could prove to be even harder for Han Wu than his war with Zhang Gang. There was even a chance that Han Wu’s divine realm could be destroyed.

Xu Mei didn’t want to lose a potentially bright student in such a pointless way, so she tried to persuade Liu Letian against lashing out in anger like this. “Mr. Liu, would you reconsider Han Wu’s test difficulty?”

Liu Letian didn’t even bat an eye as he scoffed. “We already made our final vote on this. You cannot overturn the joint decision of us homeroom teachers.”

It was true that Xu Mei couldn’t do a thing. The difficulty of this test was indeed solely up to the discretion of the homeroom teachers.

After hearing Xu Mei trying to protect him, Han Wu knew he was given the hardest test. He was facing an extremely grave situation. He was in shock that Liu Letian would try to kill him for such a banal reason. As a result, his hatred of Liu Letian quickly grew tenfold.

Liu Letian is a disgrace!

Han Wu was now even more determined to change classes. At this point, there was little that he wouldn’t sacrifice in order to achieve his goal. The three of them took their respective cards, and approached the landing pods.

Qin Shuang had noticed Han Wu being targeted, and she decided to try and persuade him earnestly one more time. “The offer still stands. Just become my slave already! After that, I would be the only one who would dare bully you.” Han Wu smiled plainly. “No thank you. See you after the test.”

He then entered the landing pod to access his divine realm.

“You dense buffoon!” Qin Shuang stomped and pouted before entering her landing pod.

Zhang Xiaolong had listened to their conversation, growling as he entered his landing pod.

The three of them activated their landing pods to reach their respective divine realms. The test was open for the others to spectate, so there were a lot of students and teachers observing them.

Qin Shuang and Zhang Xiaolong had an easy time with their test. They easily destroyed all 1000 units of the invaders without issue.

But Han Wu’s test was destined to be a long drawn-out war.

Rather than 1000 units, he had to face off against 10,000 units. More importantly, he had to fend off against the invasion of the Crimson Goblins, a subspecies of goblins. Crimson Goblins were Elite life forms from birth.

Han Wu panicked upon seeing 10,000 Crimson Goblins march into his divine realm. The Crimson Goblins were even more worrisome than Zhang Gang’s Wolf Riders due to their innate resistance to fire. As Crimson Goblins could withstand high temperatures from birth, fire-based attacks were ineffective against them!

Unfortunately, Han Wu’s main fighting force were his Bomber Locusts and Magma Locusts, which specialized in flames.

Liu Letian was smirking when he saw what was happening. Han Wu, you shouldn’t have turned down my generosity. These 10,000 Crimson Goblins will destroy your divine realm!

Some of the homeroom teachers congratulated Liu Letian in advance. “Congratulations, Mr. Liu. It seems that you will get your revenge on Han Wu today.”

Liu Letian’s shamelessness knew no bounds. “Haha, there’s no such thing as getting revenge on my student. I hope that Han Wu will learn about the hardships of teachers like us after this.”

Xu Mei ignored Liu Letian and focused on Han Wu. She hoped that he would be able to give her a miracle.

War was imminent as the Crimson Goblin army marched into Han Wu’s divine realm.
