Phoenix Forest of the Green Mountain, third day of the Lunar New Year, early morning.
The forest, a crown jewel of Li City's tourism, sat halfway up the Green Mountain. More than three hundred rare avian species called it home—tens of thousands of birds divided between the flying zone and free range area.
Within the free zone, a serene lake reflected the morning sky, embraced by quaint corridors. Vivid murals of birds adorned the pillars and roofs, almost indistinguishable from their living counterparts.
Despite the winter chill keeping most birds in their habitats, the lake remained alive with movement. Elegant swans glided past leisurely geese, while paired mandarin ducks shared space with wild ducks that couldn’t be easily named.
