This has a lot of similarities to Mortal’s journey to immortality. It’s clear that the author has been inspired from that novel.

So far the main character is street smart and this doesn’t have the typical trope of a usual young master getting offended because of a girl or an object which makes it a good start. Mortal arc is complete so far and kept it reasonable albeit a little slow. Hopefully the next arc picks up the pace a bit and gets more exciting. No interesting side characters so far - Hopefully there’s someone that the author introduces later to keep the plot engaging.

Classic xianxia setting, reincarnation etc, but this is one of the very few stories where the vast divide between mortals and cultivators is shown realistically— both in mentality and abilities, besides clearly showing just how difficult it is for a mortal to get started on the path (despite the obvious MC halo). Very well written and translated, definitely worth reading.

As of chapter 50, we are just done with the mortal world arc I think. I hope the quality remains as we head into the next arcs. With the world building so far being consistent and engaging (if quite generic and familiar to readers of the genre), looking forward to MC’s exploration of the cultivation world.

I read the latest chapter so far; I can say I really enjoyed it. The way the story is told is very unique and realistic. The world-building is slow, just the way I like it; we can see it build step by step and get into it. It gives a mortal's journey to immortality vibe. We don't know a lot about the MC's personality yet or about the world at all, but it makes it more interesting. The MC is learning from zero, and it feels more realistic, not like other novels when the MCs suddenly know everything about cultivation. So, for me, it was something fresh. So I recommend it for new readers, especially those who are new to novels, because the MC is like a new reader getting into the world of cultivation novels.
