In reality, however, the information brokers and intelligence officers handling information believed in a slightly different mantra. Something not so cliched. Yi Jong-Wuk only had one thing to say regarding information.
Information is poison.
Indeed, poison. No other term came close to describing the true nature of information in Yi Jong-Wuk’s mind.
Information could become strength in someone’s hands. It could become authority. Or even a weakness. However, to an intelligence officer? It could become a poison responsible for their destruction at any given moment.
Merely knowing valuable information was enough to turn an intelligence officer into a target of those who wanted to obtain said information, and those who wanted to monitor their every move.
As such, all intelligence officers must remember this: revealing all the information they had would guarantee their death.
A venomous snake that lost all of its fangs would be seen as useless. And just like that, a person without a final hidden ace up their sleeve would be deemed worthless.
That was why! The intelligence officer must never reveal that one last bit of crucial information that could preserve their life. Regardless of how excruciating the torture session was, no matter how mercilessly truth serums trampled on their consciousness…! One must never, ever give up on that single lifeline!
