Tae-Sung’s mind was complicated as he headed toward his family home.
‘What could have possibly happened?’
He racked his brain trying to recall if there had been any signs of trouble at home, but no matter how hard he thought, there did not seem to be any reason for concern.
They had no close relatives to cause any drama, and his mother was not the type to run a business or co-sign loans for others.
‘Could someone be sick?’
An unsettling thought crept in. Perhaps his mother or younger sister is gravely sick?
That seemed to be the only explanation for this sudden urgency.
Finally, they arrived at the house after what seemed to be an eternity.
“Mom!”
Tae-Sung burst through the front door. He barely removed his shoes before storming straight into the living room.
“You’re here?”
“Oh, you made it, oppa.”
But to his surprise, the atmosphere was not grim at all.
His mother and sister were sitting comfortably on the couch, casually chatting as they watched TV.
“What’s… going on?” he asked his mother directly, huffing and puffing to catch his breath. Then, he finally caught his breath and asked, “Why did you not explain anything over the phone? What happened? I-Is… anyone sick?”
“Haha! No, nothing like that,”...
