Two bits of good news: Madam Deathblade's grandfather is stabilized and improving. In the end, it was a small cerebral hemorrhage, scary indeed, but it seems he'll recover fine. On another note, the purpose of our trip to Beijing was that we felt it was finally time for MDB to apply for a visa to visit America. It's a pretty big deal, because getting rejected can affect subsequent applications. Plus, it's definitely not a sure thing. I have an American friend in town whose wife is Chinese, and they have a baby almost exactly the same age as BDB. She recently applied for a visa and was rejected, so we were pretty stressed out going into the trip. Therefore, you can imagine how happy MDB was when she succeeded in her interview and acquired the visa! This means that we will start planning a trip to the U.S. sometime next year. Who knows, if you live in the U.S., you might end up running into the Deathblade Clan next year!
