Author's Leave Request

July 29th. Weather outside unknown.

When I was previously in the hospital, my mind had been foggy, and I hadn’t noticed anything amiss. But sneaking back in this time, I can sense that there is something terribly wrong.

After the doctor and I (laptop still strapped to my back) slipped into the hospital, we began observing the people here in secret.

Judging by their clothing, it seems that there are only three types of people here in the hospital: the director, nurses, and patients.

Where have the doctors gone? How could such a large hospital have the director as the only doctor?

Moreover, the nurses are in high spirits, as if they have no idea about the zombie crisis outside…. No, that isn’t quite right. The two who had gone out earlier were nurses.

So they know what’s happening outside but aren’t afraid?

Perhaps still suffering from their illnesses, the patients appear wooden and sluggish. During our infiltration, the doctor and I accidentally ran into one of them. He showed no reaction at all and simply returned to his ward.

The doctor told me that intelligence reports indicate this hospital has a basement—not the morgue on the first floor, but something further down.

It looks like the secret lies in that deeper underground space.

The doctor and I made our way into the morgue. Just as we began searching for a passage to the second basement level, the director appeared.

In our panic, the doctor and I separately hid in drawers that hadn’t been occupied by a corpse yet.

We stayed hidden in the morgue for the whole night. At night, a clamorous disturbance arose, as though the corpses here had come back to life.

Wait, why is there a label at the place I’m hiding? Does it mean a body was placed here before?

The name on the label…

It’s me?

Damn it. What’s going on? My thoughts are a mess.

Taking a day off.
