Author's Leave Request

July 8th. Moderate rain.

Rain again—I hate it. A rainy day makes it difficult to track what’s happening outside, and with zombies wandering nearby, it’s hardly a pleasant feeling.

Last time, a zombie had crawled right up to the window before I noticed it. That almost scared me to death.

It has been over half a month since I rescued that armed squad and the doctor. Even now, the memory of it leaves me drenched in cold sweat.

They were far too reckless to dare venture into this city without grasping the situation. Fortunately, I stepped in just in time and helped them shake off the pursuing zombies. Unfortunately, casualties were inevitable.

Here, being injured means turning into a zombie, beyond saving.

Only four members of the armed squad survived, and the doctor made it as well.

They told me that the higher-ups sent them here to investigate the origin of the zombies and that the source of the zombie virus was right here in this city. They also claimed that this was the first city where zombies had appeared and gained intelligence through mutation.

They hoped I could assist them in investigating the source of zombies. Initially, I didn’t want to. This is far too dangerous. Merely staying alive in this apocalypse is tough enough. Why do I have to wade into these muddy waters?

I’d be better off staying put in the shelter and focusing on writing my novel.

But the doctor mentioned that the zombies might have originated from Ping’an Hospital, the same place where I had stayed for over half a month due to a cold and inadvertently escaped from.

Things have become complicated. I wish to go back and see for myself.

I’ll set off tomorrow. I need to spend the whole of tonight preparing, so there is no time to write my novel.

Taking a day off.
