Author's Leave Request

May 27th. Overcast.

I went to the hospital for a check-up. The hospital director said I had a cold but insisted that I be hospitalized. To take responsibility for my health, I accepted his suggestion.

This stay stretched into half a month. During this time, the hospital had no internet or electricity, cutting me off from the outside world. I had to stay in my ward, unable to go anywhere.

The good thing was that they provided me with water and food every day.

I asked several times to go outside for a walk, but the hospital director refused, claiming I hadn’t fully recovered from the cold and would spread it to others.

It was too strange. All this was honestly too strange.

I was convinced something was wrong and grew uneasy, so I sneaked out of the hospital while the hospital director and nurses weren’t paying attention.

As I slipped out, I noticed that the hospital was unusually empty, nothing like the bustling place I remembered.

Never mind all that for now. I’d figure things out once I got out.

Stepping through the hospital entrance, I found the outside world reduced to ruins. Not far off, ragged figures shuffled about. Curious, I approached them for a closer look. To my horror, they weren’t humans at all.

They were zombies!

I spun around, intending to return to the hospital, but the way back was already blocked by zombies. I had no choice but to find another path.

Right now, I’m hiding inside an abandoned building. For the time being, the zombies haven’t discovered me, but footsteps from upstairs and the rustling outside the door keep me on edge.

I hope I can make it through the night safely.

Taking a day off.
