All Chu Lian had done was to read a book where the female lead had cheated on her wonderful husband. While wondering why, before she knew it, she was waking up in the body of that very same female lead!
Wait, did that mean the handsome husband from the book was hers now? Chu Lian decided to welcome him with open arms!
However, what she got wasn’t the kind husband she had been expecting. Instead, his personality seemed to have been completely flipped! He left her all alone on their wedding night… and just five days into their marriage, her dear husband abandoned his loving wife and left to enlist in the army!
Fine! Be that way! She could pass her days perfectly well somehow, even if she had to do it alone!
Chu Lian put her household in order, charmed the rest of her new family, and did a little business on the side. She even opened up some new trade routes! Her days passed peacefully and leisurely… Until her dear husband got into trouble at the frontline of the war.
Hmph, isn’t he crawling back to me for help in the end? Forget it, I’ll go save him myself!

Well I just finished and I recommend this novel! The main character, though a 15 year old girl externally, is really a 30 year old woman mentally. That makes this novel so much better, in my opinion. We get to skip the angsty teenager making decisions that defy reason. Hallelujah for that! So, she’s smart, rational and most importantly, mellow! The world building is solid with great descriptions of period dress and recipes! The supporting characters are also well fleshed out, if a bit typical for side character villains. One of the best features, though, is the ending. It was fast but all of the plots and intrigues were solved! Everything was explained and everyone got their just rewards, even the petty side villains’ maid! It was a fun romp and not too much dumb romantic misunderstandings. Give it a try if you like lite political intrigues, decades long plots and revenge planning with your romance 🥰. Happy reading ✌🏾

After reading about 300 chapters, all I can say is that I'm disappointed in this novel. The novel tried to build up the MC as someone who had risen up from nothing and made something of herself. This can also be seen in her interactions with the characters surrounding her.... Except for some family characters and her husband. At this point, with the excuse of having horrible things done to him in his past life, he has attacked, humiliated, starved (unsuccessful attempts), disgraced, defamed and abandoned the MC. All without any consequences. Whenever the husband does anything wrong to the MC it is very quickly brushed over and forgotten with something along the lines of "well he's my husband after all, can't help it that he's crazy" or "she's my wife, I can do whatever I want to her." On the other hand, if the MC does anything at all to wrong the husband it is like an immediate declaration that the MC is the most horrible and disgusting person that has ever existed in the world and she should immediately get on her knees to apologize (bit exaggerated, but the husband might as well be reacting like that every time). Overall, the constant situations where the MC loses all ability to stand up for herself when facing her husband is the main reason I'm disappointed in this book.

I’m up to chapter 166 and I love this story! It’s a refreshing romantic comedy which will make you drool for better food!

Having a modern female in a classical setting with all the tropes vents a lot of frustration I get from reading female characters in these novels.

The story is funny and well written. The setting is explained as you read but without getting in the way of the story. Even the side characters are believable, with bad behaviour occurring for realistic reasons.

The story is also wonderfully translated. There were maybe 10 chapters without quotation marks for speech which was jarring but then the translation went back to normal. The translator provided great notes to explain any concepts.

I think my only issue at the moment is the statement in each chapter that the translation was stolen. I often use the Wuxiaworld app feature to read the story to me while I’m doing other things, so it’s quite jarring to keep hearing it. I would understand if I hadn’t checked and found the novel was moved here legitimately.
