Taking advantage of the gramophone’s guilty conscience, Li Banfeng toyed with her mercilessly and kept her occupied for the entire night.
When dawn arrived, Li Banfeng went back to the orange grove. He wandered around the orange grove for half the day, but by noon he still had nothing to show for it.
Soon, he felt hungry but he didn't want to eat the canned food. And so, he climbed a tree, picked two oranges, and ate them beneath it.
Each orange was nearly fifty centimeters across, larger than a pomelo, yet the peel was unexpectedly soft and thin.
When he peeled one open, each plump, oversized segment released a distinct fragrance. With his keen sense of smell, Li Banfeng could not resist the temptation and lifted a segment to his mouth, biting into it.
The juice surged into his mouth, sweet with a trace of sourness, the mingled flavors tingling across his tongue.
The refreshing aroma rushed up from his throat into his nose. After the first bite, Li Banfeng found it impossible to stop.
When he was back in the Outer Provinces, he was poor and living a hard life. He was someone who had never tasted anything truly good in his entire life.
