To be is to have a soul. The soul begets a will. Wills accumulate into mysterious psychic forces, weaving secret domains within the fabric of reality.
Li Yiming, a gentle and kind-hearted person, was embroiled in this secret facade of reality against his will. Was it a coincidence, or was it preordained by fate? Dao techniques, artifacts, fantastic beasts, supernatural abilities… Within these secret domains governed by Heavenly Laws, his true identity incites great suspicion from all. A plan concocted for millennia — will he be the one to derail Heaven’s Laws, or the one to sunder Nature’s fetters?

Overall score: not recommended. 4/10

I’ve decided to read this because it had 100% recommended reviews, and finished it only because it’s 300 chapters long.

Start of the novel was cool but it really dropped the ball with pretty much everything after around 100 chapters or so.

Setting is fun, the way MC is introduced to the cultivation world is fun, lots of unsolved mysteries which can lead to a great story development.

Unfortunately it seems like the author didn’t think things through before writing and seemingly important characters are straight up deleted from novel within a chapter. Some other characters have their story line built up just to silently die. Other people are deemed important and depicted until the very end of the novel but bring no development to the story whatsoever, it’s like reading a weather report really.

MC’s motivation is not clear, he doesn’t have a character or anything really that makes him outstanding aside from having MC halo. The fights and level progression become irrelevant almost instantly. There are challenges don’t get me wrong, but the key to overcoming them is always to magically become strong without effort, so you’re not really there for seeing how the MC grows. There were a bunch of turnarounds in his strength levels and even talent, but, it seems like author decided to drop that trope like it was too troublesome to write about and explain.

The novel didn’t leave any bad aftertaste but after around the middle of the story it stopped being fun and just became bland. Something’s happening, yes, but I didn’t care about it anymore.

You should read it of course if you want since it’s short but how much fun you’ll have while reading is questionable.

Deep, meaningful book. Quite a ride.

Since I need to give 100 words, I guess I shall expand.

Characters: 3-5/5. Some better than others.

World: 5/5

Story: 5/5

Translation: from the old days - good.

SPOILERs:

Do you really want to see something that may spoil? It's a chance to go back. In any case, the spoiler isn't that much of a spoiler, just my opinion on the course of events.

The ending was a bit unexpected but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The pacing in the middle was surprising, but again not necessarily a bad thing.

This May be a Thumbs up but let's just be clear that this novel is a mixed Bag

Pros: The Cultivation Method includes a rather interesting process but does result in a Game Like Display so, you have to be the judge of that appeal.

2. The Novel has some really interesting and Deep moments, especially in the first 20 Chapters and a Few more times later on

3. The World Building is not too obviously flawed and has some rather interesting elements and twists

4. Side Characters are permitted more depth than you'd expect though the author does not really shy away from some disturbing things so use discretion when you see the warning

Cons:

1. This Novel is some what of a Mixed Bag. It has these deep, cool, reflective moments and then it has alot of moments that really didn't need to exist and might but be straight inaccurate.

2. This is a Chinese Novel so expect the typical cultural cliches and the random expository spouting that serves nothing than to highlight the Author's personal biases

3. The MC and the Novel itself tend to treat the value of human life in a somewhat abiguous and bipolar manner which only sometimes has an acceptable explanation so be prepared to facepalm

4. The Gaming theme and the MC's natural as a bug does somewhat take away from the immersion of novel's deep moments so be prepared

5. The Lore, Plot and Ending has some.... muddled points that are debatable in terms of enjoyment. Overall the World itself is rather limited in scope for the level of high fantasy it tries to go for, the cultivation to the end has some build up thats never fully addressed etc.

Conclusion/TLDR: Beautiful Novel with alot of mesmerising moments. Definitely not on the level of Founding Fathers like ISSTH and has some lackluster points but overall worth a casual binge if you have the Karma for it. 6.5/10
