A flash of purple light and a fleeting glimpse of some mysterious runes. That was the last thing that Chu Qiguang saw before he found himself reborn as a poor farmer in an alternate world.
Gone are the riches and luxuries of his life on Earth, replaced by the trials and tribulations faced by a farmer in a world reminiscent of feudal-era China. Barely able to get by, Chu Qiguang is plunged into a state of despair, but he’s saved by one thing: his love for cats!
Armed with his love for cats and his newfound aptitude for cultivation, Chu Qiguang now has the power to change his own fate, but he still faces a steep, uphill battle as he strives to climb his way up the social ladder and return to his life on Earth.

An interesting take on the transmigration cultivation genre. If you're looking for a quality progression story with plenty of humor mixed in, you should definitely give this a try. I've read 25 chapters (the rest are locked as of posting this review), and it already has a lot of potential.

First off, the cultivation system. It doesn't follow the general trope of cultivation realms (for once), and instead of the usual dao/enlightenment + martial arts combo package that comes with cultivation, the author splits it up into two separate systems, both equally accessible. Not much has been fleshed out yet, but I like what it has so far.

The worldbuilding is solid and pretty realistic, and the result is a world that feels diverse and alive. I've read way too many stories where it just uses some standard template of "cultivation society ruled by the great sects of this and that", so I'm always happy when I see actual creativity.

The overall writing quality is also excellent. The MC is pretty crafty, with some... interesting quirks. I won't spoil too much here, but there are some hilarious moments. There is some mild face-slapping, but it takes the form of scamming and battles of wits, so it's not too cliche there.

There's still much more to talk about, but it's kinda late and I'm tired... sorry guys. I 100% sound like a robot writing this. I'm gonna give up here and say: just go try it for yourself.

Edit: There is quite a bit of crude humor. So if you really don't like that sort of stuff, then don't read it. Otherwise, go on ahead and enjoy.

I have read the first 20 chapters. This is definitely a unique novel. There is a huge “cat lovers” theme. The main character reveals himself as someone who is cunning and knowledgeable about history. This provides him an advantage on dealing with situations where he is a lot weaker. His relationship with his sister is endearing and I hope it persists.

It’s too early to give a verdict on the novel; however so far the story is interesting and we are already exposed to some overarching conflicts between humans and demons (animals/beasts with sentience).

It seems the MC will unite the two to confront a greater threat in the future (my guess not spoiler).

My overall take is that this is an ordinary transmigration story with average narration.

Nothing special about the mc other than some sympathy for his initial misfortune to land in the body of a really poor commoner. The way their poverty is described in the narration feels disturbing. Enter cat maestro. Cat is both incredibly knowledgeable and powerful; can see into future of specific people; but is also gullible enough for mc to con it (a little). Some parts are plain ugh (mc grooms cat maestro my licking it!). Mc's ambitions (so far) are not inspiring.

So - not a whole lot to like or dislike the mc or the cat. It's the same with a bunch of other characters around.

However, you might still find it readable due to a bit of novelty in the world and the cultivation system.
