It was August. The Darkness Knight led a busy life, commuting between the seal sites of the Sun Knight and the Moonlight Knight, either getting beaten up or lying flat while waiting to get beaten up the next day. In comparison, Wayne had a much easier time. Apart from dealing with Veronica, he spent the rest of his time training and playing cards.
He trained in swordsmanship with Moula and archery with Darienne. Moula was an exceptional teacher who did not hold anything back from his successor. By contrast, Darienne’s teaching was only perfunctory. Every day, she ended the lesson quickly and urged Wayne to join her in a card game.
That day, Darienne unsurprisingly lost all her chips and, having secured Wayne’s promise to play cards with her daily, agreed to teach him archery. Since Wayne wasn’t her successor, Darienne wasn’t particularly invested in teaching him. She only wanted him to show up on time to play cards.
