The Mirror World copies worlds close to collapse, forcibly taking its residents and giving them the goal of obtaining the ultimate stone, the Master Stone. Each race possesses a Race Stone, and Seong-Hwi meets his demise as he protects the humans’ Race Stone. However, he opens his eyes and realizes he has returned to the past.
”It’s not unreachable. I just have to take the right path!”
Seong-Hwi resolves to obtain the Master Stone and face his destiny head-on.
Destiny is weak to the brave and strong to the cowardly. Become someone who grabs hold of his destiny.

It look like I'm the first review? I've only read the sneak peak chapters (1-20) at the time of writing this so take this with a grain of salt. I will summarize my thoughts quickly.

Setting - You've probably seen similar before, the world is ending and the people of earth are going into another world with multiple fantasy races, mysterious forces at play, etc. I do like the depiction of earth ending, a slow and realistic downfall instead of sudden magic bullshit. There are game-like mechanics in the form of stats, skills and items. There was definitely some inspiration pulled from HunterxHunter when designing the abilities that the human race gets in the story, namely weapons that can fall into one of six familiar classifications... Overall the setting is fine, a few neat twists on some common tropes, not revolutionary but not bad.

Characters - The main character is the only one truly relevant at this point in time. He has some depth, but currently is in the classic state of a brutal and efficient character right after their regression. We know a little about his past, and otherwise the story has only hinted at future events. Most of the chapters right now are setup, backstory, and then a small amount of action in the 'tutorial' of this world.

At this point I would recommend, hopefully the story develops in an interesting way.

I ONLY read darker novels like this when they're well written and have a clear "good" end. I'm also a new reader so I have no idea what to expect going forward, or even if I will want to continue reading at some point, but here I am reading it all the same🤣🤷‍♀️🤪😆

I like this novel for its character depictions and their growth during the story. Side characters have personality and depth, expect these details about 20 ish chapters in. Keep in mind there's little joy or comedy in the beginning.

The initial story is all about the MC and after he's spent quality time killing and MC side character collecting, the story spotlights those side characters. The power and rule system is both explained in detail and left to your imagination. Stats and numbers are given to the reader but not an in-depth breakdown for the min-maxer system heavy fans.

Its a clear system without spending a ridiculous amount of time explaining it.

HOWEVER it does spend paragraphs detailing the system.

I think you need a robust imagination and prior experience reading novels in the same genre to read this. I'd hesitantly recommend this to new readers, if you are a new reader just take your time💙

As for all readers the MC isn't a hero at the start, reluctant or otherwise, instead hes completely driven by his own desires. Those desires can be beneficial to others or they can be completely cold strict rationality.

There's gore and death, both immoral and compassionate acts, and the breaking down of general societal norms morphing into "Survival of the Fittest" and "Might Makes Right"

So far, I like it. Granted I only read 26 chapters so it is not much to go on. But, for now, it blends returned and system genre well.

Weapon classification and mechanics is interesting. Not sure how much will I like MC, depends on what he does in the future, but for now he seems pretty standard min-maxer.

Would be nice if there are some other interesting characters other than MC and a bit of a focus is on them latter down the line. But most of the times it is not the case. Hope this novel is a bit different in this regard than most.

I find it kind of funny that in this novel humans are, in relative terms, weaker and lower ranked than goblins. That is new, looking forward to seeing how other races are described, the dynamic between races, alliances and all that jazz.

All in all, for now, I like this one. But realistically, it will take a while before I decide will I continue to read this one or will I drop it. Time will tell.
