Li Yanchu transmigrated into a strange world of martial arts, Daoist spells, ghosts, and monsters, only to land in the body of a young Daoist at the rundown Qingyun Temple. Just across the street? A rowdy inn run by a stunningly seductive innkeeper. Life could be worse.

Gifted with the mysterious Decree of Bestowal, Li Yanchu can transform ordinary herbs into century-old divine medicine, giving him an unparalleled advantage in cultivation. With this cheat-like ability, he advances rapidly in cultivation, despite being told he had no talent for it.

But cultivation isn't his only path forward.

After slaying a ghost and earning merit points, he realizes there’s more to this world than martial arts. Hidden behind the scenes is a karma-based system, one that rewards righteous deeds.

As his saber technique grows sharper by the day, Li Yanchu finds himself entangled in eerie mysteries, deadly encounters, and strange happenings in Wei City…

Now, with the authorities pounding on his doors, Li Yanchu’s peaceful days of tea and training might just be over.

Ghosts. Bandits. Cultivation. A cheat system tied to karma. When the mortal world and the supernatural collide, only one Daoist stands between chaos and order.

Official Blurb:

Li Yanchu transmigrates to Wei County in Beifeng Prefecture of the Kingdom of Qian, becoming the last Daoist priest of Qingyun Temple. Unfortunately, the Daoist arts passed down in this lineage are notoriously hard to cultivate, and Li Yanchu just wants to quietly meditate, refine pills, and achieve immortality.

But aside from a black donkey, the temple has nothing of value.

With no money and an empty stomach, Li Yanchu is left with no choice but to strap on a pair of knuckle dusters, pick up his butcher's knife, and perform exorcisms for a living.

“Little Daoist, your tricks are useless against me,” a ghost sneers.

A moment later, it’s reduced to ash.

“This weapon? It’s made of lightning-struck wood, soaked in black dog’s blood.”

Li Yanchu soon discovers that slaying ghosts earns him merit, which he can use to upgrade the quality of all things through Decree of Bestowal!

Years later, Li Yanchu passes through a remote mountain village thick with resentment, a place shunned as a land of great misfortune. Daoist spells are heavily suppressed in this cursed ground.

Facing a village swarming with old vengeful ghosts, Li Yanchu simply smiles. “Good thing I know a bit of martial arts.”

If the review system had the option for average or middle of the road then this is the story I would give it to. Having read up to chapter 15 the overall feeling I get is that of being rushed, and also of the author of the story really having a thing for talking about marrying the MC or them getting with the innkeeper, the innkeeper's sister, or any of the other people he saves.

Maybe its just rushing because its the initial chapters but I do think I would drop this novel if the same tone and pace keeps on going the entire time, hopefully that doesn't happen.

this has great potential as of chapter (12), I await your future chapters.

why do I have to write 100 words for a review? sigh......hmm..... well I like the merit mechanics, it feels good to be rewarded for good deeds and it allows for a darker setting without the novel being too depressing to read. I guess the "golden finger'' isn't too ridiculous. if you are thinking of darker scenes and world settings (which is fine), I would recommend adding some "light" and "hope" to not appear too depressing. I have never liked the novels which were focused on how only by being heartless, ruthless, immoral....etc., you can succeed. so it was nice to see your merit mechanics from the beginning.

finally..........122 words for this review
