The guard's flustered gaze turned to Ramon as he responded, "I also don't know. I'm just following the instructions I have been given."
"Instructions? Who gave such instructions?"
"It was I," an old man said in a gentle voice. He was small in stature and had white hair, but his eyes were bright.
"Chief Snero," Lanfero said. "Can I ask you a question first? Did my kids cause any trouble in the village?"
