The first thing I felt when I woke up was a burning thirst in my throat.

Without even opening my eyes, I groaned as I struggled to find something to drink. I could feel the damp, metallic touch of what seemed to be a kettle just within reach. Not bothering to check what was inside, I poured it down my parched throat.

Gulp, gulp.

I put the spout to my mouth and drank it in a pathetic manner that almost brought tears to my eyes. It looked like I was pouring it down my throat, rather than drinking it. My thirst was only satisfied when I emptied the big kettle.

"Phew, I almost died..." I murmured.

I had replenished some fluids, but my head was still slightly dizzy. Thinking about it, I had lost a lot of blood. I had given it little thought due to having no symptoms at first, but people did die from blood loss.

It was only after I finished drinking that I rubbed my eyes and checked my surroundings. Then I almost had a heart attack.

The Iron-Blooded Lord was sitting in a chair right next to my bed.

"Uh..." I began, as everything that had happened right before I collapsed flashed through my mind.

The Iron-Blooded Lord was reading a small book the size of his palm, but it was hard to guess what it was about since there was no title written on the cover. Of course, this was hardly the time for me to be analyzing a book.
