In the dark room, Perist's eyes snapped open. Her red irises shone sharply against her dyed black hair, resembling the gleam of a beast's eyes with tapetum lucidum tissue. Though her eyes had been closed the entire time, she had not been asleep. She had long since stopped sleeping, yet her mind remained in peak condition. It was no different now.
"I didn't expect Khajitta to fall," she said, a trace of joy coloring her voice. The feeling was subtle, but it carried a hint of innocence.
