Chapter 727 Passageway

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The pursuers had finally found Jian Xiaotian’s trail and they began bombarding the restrictive arrays in their path. These cultivators have been pursuing Jian Xiaotian for some time now. Naturally, it was not because there was a grudge between them and Jian Xiaotian or something along those lines. Rather, it was because Jian Xiaotian had obtained the legacy of a high-level Human Immortal. It was a considerable amount of wealth. By obtaining the legacy, they would be able to rise up to the Human Immortal stage quickly.

For all low-level cultivators, rising up to the Human Immortal stage was their most important goal. Reaching the Human Immortal stage meant taking one step upon the immortal dao. No matter how powerful a Sky Human stage cultivator may be, that person was just an ordinary human who had yet to comprehend the immortal dao laws.

Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa!

As the cultivators continued attacking, the restrictive arrays in their path kept breaking down and it did not take long before they saw Jian Xiaotian’s figure beyond the restrictive arrays.

Jian Xiaotian felt helpless. He was indeed very lucky. However, he was not the only one there when he received the legacy. Additionally, there were quite a few amongst his pursuers with formidable cultivation bases. They had many cards up their sleeves and even his Teleportation Talisman had failed to work. If it weren’t for the defensive magic treasures on him, he would have died to them long ago.

Who are these fellows? It’s strange, I am actually incapable of recognizing a single one of them. Still, the fact that they could survive here for so long meant that they possess some skills. Looks like I am in quite the pickle. After considering it for a moment, Jian Xiaotian then waved his hand and two puppets – forged from metal – appeared before him. Following Jian Xiaotian’s orders, they made their way past the restrictive arrays to attack the cultivators.

The two combat puppets possessed the offensive might of half-step Human Immortals. Although they were incapable of utilizing soul attacks, their defensive power was strong. In fact, they could even block the attacks of a Human Immortal for some time.

“Buy me some time,” Jian Xiaotian said before turning to head deeper into the cave.

It was strange. The cave was located inside a volcano. And yet, the temperature there seemed unaffected by the surrounding magma. On the contrary, there was a somewhat cooling feeling within the cave. Most importantly, there were streams of pure spiritual energy inside. Although they mostly contained the power of fire, it was still usable for healing purposes. That was also why Jian Xiaotian had chosen to enter this volcano.

I wonder what is inside this cave. Hopefully, it is not a dead end. As there was no way out, Jian Xiaotian could only head deeper.

Boom!

By the time the cultivators blasted apart all the restrictive arrays, they had completely lost track of Jian Xiaotian’s aura. All they could sense were the streams of thick spiritual energy gushing out from the cave.

“What happened? The kid’s aura has disappeared!”

“Don’t worry about it. There is only one path forward here. Let’s give chase!”

“We should exercise caution. This place looks somewhat eerie.”

“Heh! What are you afraid of? There are so many of us here. All of us have magic treasures for defence. Also, once we capture the kid, we’ll get ourselves a considerable harvest.”

“Let’s go!”

Four hours later, Chen Feng arrived. He stood at the mouth of the volcano, marvelling at the sight.

To think that there could be such a massive volcano. It is truly a geographical wonder. If enough magma sprays out from underground, the resulting scene would surely be spectacular.

According to what I can gather so far, Jian Xiaotian must be inside this volcano. After considering it for a moment, Chen Feng sent his soul power out to scan the interior of the volcano. However, Chen Feng’s face quickly took on a look of surprise. His soul power had only entered a distance of 1,000 zhang before some power obstructed it.

There’s something weird here. I’ll have to take a good look. Next, black streams of light flew out from Chen Feng’s eyes. His vision of the entire volcano instantly became layered. He could see the stacks of innumerable restrictive arrays there. Although the restrictive arrays did not appear to possess any offensive powers, they had actually blocked Chen Feng’s ability to inspect the place.

It's strange. These restrictive arrays look like naturally-forming ones. However, it also looks like someone had modified them. Could they be the restrictive arrays left behind by the Immortal Humans from the ancient battle? Chen Feng wondered.

Sou! Sou!

Chen Feng considered it for a moment. Next, two more streams of black light flew out from his eyes to slice open a stretch of the restrictive arrays. Nothing happened in response.

Seeing that, Chen Feng grew relieved and he jumped down. The images playing on the surface of the Thousand Seeker Mirror in his hand flickered without respite. It was as though there was a power there disrupting its function.

It did not take long for Chen Feng to find the cave that Jian Xiaotian had been staying at. Hesitating for just a moment, he walked inside.

Some cultivators blew apart the restrictive arrays here. Hopefully, Brother Jian is still safe. By then, the Thousand Seeker Mirror in his hand had completely lost its ability to function. No more images could be seen on its surface.

It’s truly strange. This cave is something else. There are such pure streams of spiritual energy here. Looks like there must be some large-scale magic arrays for gathering and purifying spiritual energy here. There is only one reason for setting up these magic arrays. Cultivation.

If so, the one who could set up such magic arrays must surely be a monstrous-like character, an Immortal Human who survived the great battle!

Huh! If that fellow is still alive, things could get dicey. I wonder if the Longevity Tower could handle him?

Despite those thoughts, Chen Feng did not stop. On the contrary, he hastened his pace.

The path within the cave twisted here and there and Chen Feng covered a distance of over 10,000 metres before the path forked out into two paths. Due to that, Chen Feng halted and began inspecting the surrounding auras.

Boom!

Chen Feng abruptly sent his fist out against the wall there. It was a punch with a force of over half a million kilogrammes. And yet, it was only capable of breaking open a small hole on the wall. Additionally, the small hole automatically repaired itself to its former state in just several breaths’ worth of time.

As expected, there is something here. Chen Feng smiled. Then, his figure dashed forward, making its way into the left passageway.

This was an even more winding passageway. Along the way, Chen Feng encountered more forking paths. For Chen Feng, it felt as though he might lose his sense of direction.

The spiritual energy in the air is getting even thicker. This level of concentration is already close to that of immortal energy. Tsk, tsk. Looks like I will be reaching that place soon, Chen Feng thought.

Sou! Sou! Sou!

As Chen Feng continued venturing forward, he could clearly sense streams of spiritual energy – increasingly pure in quality – blowing towards him. It felt as though his pores would open up.

This is quite a good place for cultivation.

After spending another two hours advancing through the passageway, Chen Feng came to a halt and focused on listening to his surroundings. The faint sounds of battle travelled through the passageway towards him.

Found him! Chen Feng was delighted. Following the direction of the sounds, he dashed forward.

Despite having heard the sounds of battle, it had still taken him another four hours before he managed to find Jian Xiaotian.

What is this place? The passageway abruptly widened before his very eyes and he found himself within a gigantic and spacious cavern.

Thick streams of spiritual energy roiled continuously there. Although it was not immortal energy, its purity and quality were already comparable to immortal energy.

Chen Feng reached out with his hand and grasped. Instantly, a portal appeared upon his palm and a vast amount of the spiritual energy there surged into the portal.

After several breaths’ worth of time, Chen Feng stopped. The amount of spiritual energy he absorbed earlier was comparable to ten Immortal crystals.

This shocked Chen Feng. From what he knew, the amount of immortal energy that a Human Immortal could absorb by linking up to the Immortal Plane per day could not even reach the equivalent of 10 Immortal crystals. Naturally, that was only for the average Human Immortal.

That was the reason why Chen Feng was so shocked at the massive hoard of Immortal crystals he had found inside the Immortal Skylodge Mansion back then. For the present Chen Feng, it was an indescribable amount of wealth.

“Brother Chen!” Jian Xiaotian’s delighted voice rang out from up ahead. There were wounds all over Jian Xiaotian’s body and he panted as he called out. Despite being somewhat out of breath, seeing Chen Feng, he ended up smiling from excitement. At the same time, he also knew that he was saved.

“Brother Jian, you look quite miserable.” Chen Feng strode forward while secretly keeping an eye on his surroundings.

“Little fellow, where did you come from? Scram!” A fist – gleaming with a metallic lustre – shot towards Chen Feng.

Chen Feng smiled and he raised his hand to respond with a punch of his own. The metallic fist disappeared and a cultivator puked blood as his figure flew backwards. After falling to the ground, he was only capable of twitching a few times before breathing his last.

“What?”

Every one of the cultivators surrounding Jian Xiaotian cried out in shock. Seeing Chen Feng come closer and closer, some of them felt a sense of oppression befalling them and dread surfaced to their eyes.

“Who are you?”

“Fools! Grab Jian Xiaotian first!”

The cultivators were not idiots. Naturally, they were able to see that this newcomer was someone affiliated with Jian Xiaotian. Additionally, it would appear that he was very strong. Thus, the best method of dealing with him would be to capture Jian Xiaotian first. That way, this newcomer would be incapable of going all out for fear of harming Jian Xiaotian.

Three cultivators rushed forward to stop Chen Feng while another three cultivators stretched their hands forward to capture Jian Xiaotian. Two more rushed to the sides, one on the left and one on the right, to keep an eye on Chen Feng.

By then, Jian Xiaotian was already in a terribly wounded state. In the face of their attacks, he was practically incapable of fighting back.

Even so, Jian Xiaotian did not feel worried in the slightest. He had faith in Chen Feng.

Sou! Sou!

Chen Feng’s eyes flashed with light and two streams of sword light, one black and one white, flew out. The black sword light attacked the three cultivators attacking Jian Xiaotian while the white sword light slashed towards the three cultivators facing him.

“Careful, those are Sacred artefacts!” The faces of the two cultivators who were standing at the sides sank. At the same time, they attacked Chen Feng.

“Moon-seeking Wondercloud!”

“Arms of the Earthen Sovereign!”

A stretch of multi-coloured clouds abruptly erupted forward. Like strands of colourful ribbons, they moved forward to wrap around Chen Feng. Beneath the multi-coloured clouds was a massive, black-coloured palm, which rushed forward to grasp Chen Feng.

In the face of the two incoming attacks, all Chen Feng did was take one step forward. Next, he disappeared only to re-appear beside Jian Xiaotian.

The streams of sword energy radiating from the Twin Swords of Life and Death intersected one another, reigning supreme there. It was so formidable and domineering that all the cultivators there were suppressed by it and were forced to give ground.

As for Chen Feng, he waved his hand to send a stream of Dawnsource Crystal Waters into Jian Xiaotian’s body. Due to that, Jian Xiaotian’s body began healing at a rate visible to the naked eye. Even his turbulent aura was able to stabilize.

“Brother Jian, you made a breakthrough in your cultivation base again. Congratulations! Not to mention, you could escape the pursuit of so many experts. Looks like it won’t take long before you reach the Human Immortal stage,” Chen Feng said smilingly, ignoring the opposing cultivators.
