Chapter 787 Storm

The white lion’s thunderous roar resounded across the void.

Three figures landed on the high platform under many gazes.

Yi Yan scanned the audience, his gaze pausing on Chen Beifeng and Ye Bingling.

“We pay respect to elder Yi Yan.” Chen Beifeng and Ye Bingling both gave a cupped fist salute. Before they become the pavilion master, their status would be lower than Yi Yan’s.

Yi Yan nodded slightly at the two.

Then Ye Bingling cast her beautiful eyes at the man and woman behind Yi Yan. But she only simply glanced at Zhou Yuan before she fixed her eyes on Yi Qiushui.

“She is the new deputy pavilion master? Although she isn’t weak, she isn’t strong enough to become a deputy pavilion master,” Ye Bingling muttered to herself as she scrunched her brows.

At the same time, Zhou Yuan’s gaze also ran across the thousands of extraordinary young figures in front of him. Seeing so many young heaven prides gathered together, he couldn’t help but marvel at the fact that Hunyuan Heaven was indeed blessed by heaven...

Yi Yan suddenly coughed slightly and attracted all eyes to him. Then he smiled faintly and said, “Presumably, everyone knows that there will be a third deputy pavilion master of the Wind Pavilion today.”

The smile of the man named Jin Teng grew wider. He had also quickly studied Zhou Yuan and Yi Qiushui, who were behind Yi Yan. He had only glanced at Zhou Yuan, who was at the intermediate Divine Dwelling stage, but had paid more attention to Yi Qiushui, who was at the advanced Divine Dwelling stage.

However, after a cursory glance, he knew that Yi Qiushui’s Genesis Qi foundation wasn’t as strong as his. He quickly threw away his previous worry because he knew that Yi Qiushui had no qualification to take on the post of deputy pavilion master.

And since it wasn’t her, who else but Jin Teng would be a suitable candidate?

“Next I’d like to introduce you to...”

Yi Yan stroked his beard and took a step sideways to let Zhou Yuan come forward.

Low sounds of disturbance arose in the courtyard, and numerous eyes went wide with disbelief.

“This is the third deputy pavilion master of the Wind Pavilion, Zhou Yuan. He was appointed by Lady Chi Jing.” Yi Yan didn’t deliberately keep everyone in suspense, and he finished speaking in one breath.

The smile on Jin Teng’s face faded, and his face stiffened.

All commotion in the square halted suddenly, and only the howling wind could be heard.

With difficulty, Ye Bingling shifted her gaze from Yi Qiushui to Zhou Yuan, whom she had ignored from the beginning. At this moment, she felt a sense of absurdity.

Someone of the intermediate Divine Dwelling stage had become a deputy pavilion master?

Chen Beifeng was similarly staring at Zhou Yuan with a ruminative smile.

Did Lady Chi Jing want to ruin the Wind Pavilion? Did she think anyone could join?

Zhou Yuan calmly scanned the strangely silent square, and Yi Qiushui revealed a look of worry on her face because she knew very well how arrogant and proud these heaven prides in the Wind Pavilion were.

It seemed that Zhou Yuan becoming deputy pavilion master would cause quite a lot of storm.

The silence in the square lasted for more than ten breaths before an earthshaking noise erupted.

“Don’t joke! How can someone of the intermediate Divine Dwelling stage become one of the Wind Pavilion’s deputy pavilion masters?”

“What do you think the Wind Pavilion is?! A dumpsite? This is absolutely ridiculous!”

“This is definitely not Lady Chi Jing’s order! Someone has definitely passed on the wrong order!”

“Scram from the Wind Pavilion!”

All members of the Wind Pavilion were enraged because they were proud of being part of the Wind Pavilion. They were ferocious wolves yet were going to be led by a hunting dog? Wasn’t that an insult to them?!

“Has Lady Chi Jing gone senile?!”

Hearing this comment, Ye Bingling immediately raised her brow and snapped, “Impudence.”

She stamped her foot, and icy cold Genesis Qi suddenly spread outward from her feet. The Genesis Qi roared, tearing apart the crowd behind her, and then, with a loud bang, turned into countless sharp icicles that surrounded a figure.

The man surrounded by the icicles went pale, and he was afraid to move an inch.

“Whoever dares insult Lady Chi Jing again shouldn’t blame me for being impolite!” Ye Bingling warned, her face frosty.

Seeing Ye Bingling furious, many members of the Wind Pavilion also froze.

“Deputy pavilion master Ye, don’t get angry. They just couldn’t restrain their emotions. They naturally are full of respect for Lady Chi Jing. Who would dare insult her?” Jin Teng stepped forward and said calmly.

He swept a glance over Zhou Yuan on the platform. “But this matter is indeed a little strange. How can someone of the intermediate Divine Dwelling stage be qualified to become a deputy pavilion master?

“If this matter spreads to the ears of the people of the other three pavilions, our Wind Pavilion really will become a joke.

“We won’t be able to hold our heads high in the future.”

Yi Yan frowned. “Zhou Yuan is only at the intermediate Divine Dwelling stage, but he has defeated Mo Yuan, who is at the advanced Divine Dwelling stage, so his strength shouldn’t be judged by his cultivation level.”

Everyone’s eyes went wide and turned to look at Zhou Yuan, puzzled.

It was obvious that everyone present knew who Mo Yuan was. After all, he was ranked on the Divine Dwelling List, and although his ranking wasn’t high, he was stronger than the majority of people present.

Ye Bingling was similarly a little surprised.

He defeated Mo Yuan while he was still at the intermediate Divine Dwelling stage? Could it be that Zhou Yuan was indeed quite capable?

Jin Teng was taken aback at first; then he indifferently remarked, “Defeated Mo Yuan? That’s quite impressive.”

It was just that he seemed to have spoken in a slightly sarcastic tone.

“Mo Yuan’s strength is pretty good, but it’s not a benchmark. If he can become a deputy pavilion master just because he has defeated Mo Yuan, then there wouldn’t only be two deputy pavilion masters after all these years.”

Jin Teng was also ranked on the Divine Dwelling List, and he was ranked higher than Mo Yuan. Others might be shocked that Zhou Yuan had beaten Mo Yuan, but he wouldn’t be shaken by this.

Yi Yan’s face darkened seeing that Jin Teng was pestering endlessly. “Are you trying to go against Lady Chi Jing’s orders?”

“I don’t dare to. Why would I say so much if it weren’t for the sake of Lady Chi Jing’s prestige?” Jin Teng explained respectfully.

“All youngsters in the Wind Pavilion respect and admire Lady Chi Jing. We don’t want to see a mistake cause resentment in everybody’s heart. In the long run, it’s not beneficial to the development of the Wind Pavilion.”

Yi Yan opened his mouth and was about to speak when Zhou Yuan strode forward. Zhou Yuan looked Jin Teng directly in the eye and smiled. “What can I do to prove that I am qualified to be a deputy pavilion master?

He could already tell that Jin Teng was doing everything possible to prevent him from taking the position.

Jin Teng’s lips curved in a contemptuous smile when he saw that Zhou Yuan had finally come forward. “It’s simple, the people of the Wind Pavilion only focus on strength and not background.”

Zhou Yuan gently nodded. His expression suddenly turned cold the next moment.

A powerful gush of Genesis Qi directly erupted from his body, and two muddle-colored Divine Dwelling halos appeared behind him.

He took a step forward.

A pair of mysterious light wings appeared around his body.

“Omega Saint Spirit Art!”

He swirled his palm, and a sword pill emerged.

“Devil Sweeping Sword Orb!”

Monstrous sword qi surged to the sky, causing many members of the Wind Pavilion to turn pale.

The sword qi stretched infinitely, enveloped the sword pill and turned into a sword of light.

Zhou Yuan still didn’t stop. He wiped his palm over the body of the sword, and World Subduing Heavenly Serpent Qi diffused and formed azure scales around the sword’s body!

Sword Qi flooded the world.

Zhou Yuan stared intently at Jin Teng like a sharp sword, and with a flick of his sleeve, that beam of sword light directly pierced the void under countless shocked gazes. It was aimed directly at Jin Teng!

At the same time, a cold and indifferent voice could be heard.

“If you can take this sword, I’ll let you be the deputy pavilion master!”
