Beep! Beep!

[Emergency! Emergency! An intruder has appeared in the residential area! An intruder has appeared in the residential area!]

A massive battleship showed up. Five people were running down Arachne’s corridor at a remarkable pace. One of them was covered in heavy armor while carrying a large tower shield, and he was reaching speeds nearing 80 kilometers per hour.

“Stop the intruders!”

“Where the hell did they come from?!”

Soldiers clad in reinforced suits from head to toe poured out to meet the intruders. They carried guns, not swords or spears, and these weapons shot lasers as if they were from a sci-fi movie.

“Wedge formation!”

“Stop them!”

With his heavy armor and huge shield, Adol ran ahead while the other four users hid behind him. The soldiers made two rows, one sitting and one standing, and aimed their laser guns at the approaching intruders. The soldiers laughed.

“They must have gone crazy. They don’t have any barriers or force fields. Trying to block a gunshot with a shield… pfft. Fire!”

Bam!

Without making much noise, white beams of light poured toward Adol’s shield. The soldiers imagined that the shield would melt like a honeycomb exposed to fire and that Adol would subsequently collapse, but their expectations did not come true.

Ting!

“What?!”

Unexpectedly, Adol’s tower shield blocked all of the lasers. In fact, this should have been expected. The shield had all kinds of defense spells imbued on it and was infused with Adol’s internal energy; this allowed it to completely resist heat and shock energy, as well as most poisons and magic power. It would be difficult to pierce Adol’s shield with sword qi, never mind a mere laser. At the least, a 900mm cannon would be required.

Crack!

Adol attacked the soldiers blocking the hallway with a shield charge....
