Today’s lunch was instant ramen.
Do-Jun opened the cupboard and looked at the noodle packets, considering how many to cook. Byeol’s appetite was much larger than that of other kids her age, and she could easily devour two packs by herself. So, even though it seemed like too much for one grown man and a child, Do-Jun pulled out three packs and placed them on the dining table.
“Wamen!” Byeol exclaimed happily. She toddled over with a cheerful grin, delighted by the prospect of her dad cooking ramen.
When she was hungry, the ramen her dad made always tasted like the best thing in the world. Byeol stood nearby, curiously watching her dad cook. Everyone had their own way of making ramen, and Do-Jun started by adding the seasoning packet to the water. Once it boiled, the spicy aroma of ramen began to fill the air. Then, he added the noodles and let them cook for about three minutes.
“All right, it’s ready. Eat up.” Do-Jun served Byeol two portions.
She immediately began devouring the ramen, her cheeks puffed out with noodles.
“Yum! It’s so tasty.”
