Chapter 254 – A Woman’s Heart

“Who… Who are you?”

Mu Tianbei had never thought that there would ever come a day where he would be frightened by a little girl, to the point where his entire body spasmed. For Jasmine, who was currently only in a half-soul form, her strength was not even ten thousandth of her normal form. However, to Mu Tianbei, it was still a nightmare-like pressure. Even though in front of him was just a little girl whose beauty could not be described, he felt as though he was looking at the abyss of death. Every part of his body was uncontrollably trembling crazily.

Jasmine’s tender lips slightly tilted, revealing an ice-cold light smile. “This princess has already given you a chance to choose your method of death. Since you refuse to choose, then this princess shall choose on your behalf… Disappear!!”

Jasmine’s small hand gently sliced the empty air…

A gentle explosive sound rang. Before this sound could travel too far, it had already been submerged completely into the snowstorm. In this slight commotion, Mu Tianbei’s body instantly burst… To be more exact, his body was instantly broken down! His body broke down into countless of extremely small fragments, and then, these fragments continued to break down, and break down… and they broke down into fragments even smaller than dust, until the fragments completely disappeared. Not even a trace of his body was left… as it was taken over by complete nothingness.

As she watched Mu Tianbei disappear in front of her eyes, Jasmine’s expression was completely indifferent. Her two hands held in front of her chest, and following the flipping of her palms, she cast a mystical profound formation. This profound formation spiraled at high speed, and disappeared within her chest. After that, Jasmine’s figure disappeared from the spot.

With Mu Tianbei nearing their backs, Xia Qingyue initially thought that they no longer had any possibility to escape. Just when she was about to forcefully open her Frozen Cloud Domain, she was surprised to feel that the pressure coming from Mu Tianbei had suddenly disappeared. When she turned to look, she could no longer see Mu Tianbei’s figure as well. Although she was surprised, she did not dare to stop even for a single moment as she brought Yun Che further and further away at an incredible speed… Unconsciously, she had already went past one ice mountain after another.

Sensing that Jasmine had returned, Yun Che immediately asked. “Is the deed done?”

“Do you really believe that he can escape alive under my hands?” Jasmine said snappily.

“… Then what about Fen Juecheng? Did you deal with him as well?”

“I only told you that I will help you kill a single person. I don’t have the mood to care about some Fen Juecheng!”

“Shit… If Fen Juecheng isn’t dead, then didn’t I kill Fen Juebi for nothing!? He only has to tell Fen Moli, and whole world will know that I was the one who killed Fen Juebi! If that’s the case, I might as well kill Fen Juebi personally with my hands back then!”

“That’s your problem. What does that have to do with me?”

“…” Yun Che’s face cramped for a moment. He could only take a deep breath, and helplessly said. “Never mind! Where’s Mu Tianbei’s corpse? Is it still at the place where he almost caught up to us earlier?”

“I have already made sure that he completely disappeared from this world. Forget about a corpse, not even a single speck of ash is left. What did you want to do with his corpse?”

“F*ck!” Yun Che almost leapt out of Xia Qingyue’s body. “Mu Tianbei is the Fort Master of the Heavenly Spear Thunderfire Fortress! The Fort Master, you know! There’s definitely a large amount of sect treasures in his spatial ring, or he might even have some sort of world-shocking secret, and you actually made him to vanish just like that! It would have been great if you had casually sliced him into half, it would have saved you time and effort as well! Y-y-y-you… You will definitely be a spoiled woman when you grow up in the future.”

Jasmine coldly snorted. “You don’t have the capability to kill him yourself, and had me deal with him instead, so stop with all this nonsense!”

“…” Yun Che had no words to rebut her with.

Turning back to give another glance, Yun Che could only swallow down the thought of turning back to kill Fen Juecheng. In the vast snowfield, it was basically impossible to determine one’s direction. When Xia Qingyue sprinted, she did not leave any trace, and even if there were some traces left behind, they would have already been covered by the snowstorm. The possibility of turning back to find them was basically none.

“Currently, I have already sealed my profound energy. In the next very long period of time, my strength will only be used to expel the poison, and it cannot be released outside. A seal like this is something I can’t even remove myself. When you once again encounter some danger, just pray for the best.” Jasmine said, and her words were definitely not a joke. She had seriously sealed her own profound energy. However, a seal like this did not prevent her from circulating profound energy, rather, it prevented her from releasing her profound energy outside her body.

“A very long period of time? How long is that?”

“It is a sealing profound formation that I casually casted, I don’t know how long the seal will last either. The shortest is a single year, while the longest might be a few dozen years!”

After continuously proceeding forward for more than two hours, and after confirming that Mu Tianbei would not be chasing after them, Xia Qingyue’s mind finally relaxed as she fell onto the patch of snow with Yun Che.

As though he had been startled, Yun Che let out a “Aiya” sound. His body was suddenly thrown forward. He instantly landed on Xia Qingyue’s body and hugged her really tightly.

After sprinting with her full strength for so long, a large majority of Xia Qingyue’s profound energy was used up. She steadied her breathing for a moment, and then, neither lightly nor heavily, raised her hand to push away Yun Che, who was on her body. Then, she stood up, and her breathing had slowly calmed down as well. Her expression was even more calm, with not even a hint of emotions on her face.

“Stand up. There’s no need to act anymore, I know that your internal injuries never acted up in the first place.” Looking at Yun Che who she had pushed into the pile of snow, Xia Qingyue spoke with an indifferent expression.

Yun Che stood up from the pile of snow and casually patted off the snow on his body. Just when he was about to speak up, he was suddenly stunned for a moment… Earlier, when Xia Qingyue had brought him to flee with all her strength, the veil on her face had long fell off somewhere along the way. A beautiful face, so absolutely beautiful to the point of causing people to hold their breaths, was revealed before him, at such a close distance. Her snow-dress fluttered, bathing within the snowstorm. A charm like this, even the legendary snow woman would pale in comparison.

Seeing that he did not say anything for a long while, and was instead looking at her own face while in a slight daze, Xia Qingyue reached out her hand to touch her own cheek. Only then did she realize that her veil had gone missing. Her brows slightly twitched. She slanted her face to the side, and lightly asked. “The reason why Fen Juecheng and Fen Moli wished to kill you, is because of Princess Cang Yue. But why did Mu Tianbei want to kill you?”

Evidently, she had heard the conversation between Yun Che, Fen Juecheng and Fen Juebi. Yun Che regained his senses, slightly curled his lips, and said. “Mu Tianbei had once invited me to join Heavenly Spear Thunderfire Fortress, and even ridiculed the Blue Wind Profound Palace. Then, he was sent back by my ridiculing comments, and I even harmed his core disciple, hence, he held a grudge against me… It was just something like that.”

Xia Qingyue softly said. “Mu Tianbei is number one in the Northern Passes, and no one would dare to offend to him. People like him would never tolerate even a little bit of offense that come their way, and I had heard from Master once that he had always been prideful and egoistic… People like him, it’s best that you don’t offend them in the future.”

“I had never take the initiative to offend someone, all of them were the ones who came to offend me. It’s just that I have learnt to never be polite and tolerate people who offend me.” Yun Che said without a care. Looking at the side-view of Xia Qingyue’s perfect face, he smiled. “Qingyue my wife, it’s good that you’re here this time. Otherwise, I would have definitely died in Mu Tianbei’s hands. But, you’re my wife, after all, so I won’t say thank you… Speaking of which, why were you nearby back then? You couldn’t have seen that I had yet to recover from my injuries, was worried about my safety, and have been sneakily following after me, right?”

“I just happened to pass by.”

Evidently, Xia Qingyue was not good at lying. When she said those words, her tone and demeanor was very unnatural. She shifted her gaze away as well, not wanting to make eye contact with Yun Che. She turned to the side, and coldly said. “Mu Tianbei should have lost us, it’s nearly impossible for him to think of finding you in this Secret Realm. Your injuries have already fully healed, and your profound energy has already recovered by at least seventy percent. It should be enough to fend for yourself in this place. Take care.”

After saying that, Xia Qingyue’s snow-dress fluttered, and she was about to leave.

“Hey, hey! Wait a minute!” Yun Che hurriedly stepped forward, and blocked her front. “You can’t really be leaving like this, right? In truth… In truth, earlier, those words were used to fool Fen Juecheng, my wounds are basically not fully healed at all. At most, I’m only fifty percent healed, especially my internal injuries, right now, they’re still… Kuh kuh… Cough cough cough cough… My profound energy has only recovered by thirty percent at most, really… If, I’m once again found by Fen Juecheng and Mu Tianbei, without you by my side to protect me, then wouldn’t I… It doesn’t matter if I die, but to burden you to become a widow, how could I bear such a thing…”

Xia Qingyue’s beautiful brows evidently twitched for a moment.

“Besides, we are a legally wedded husband and wife, and since we’re husband and wife, we should live together on the same bed, die together in the same hole, share our blessings and depend on each in times of crisis. Now that I’m currently troubled by various things, as my wife, shouldn’t you do your part as what a wife would do, and take up the responsibility to protect me… Hey, hey! Don’t go…”

Back then, when Yun Che’s meridians were crippled, facing Xia Qingyue who was too high for him to reach back then, he would frequently say these cheap words, causing her to feel angry and helpless. Currently, in terms of strength, Yun Che could not compete with Xia Qingyue, but in terms of persistence, Xia Qingyue was definitely unable to compete with Yun Che. Hence, the two of them were basically six of one and half a dozen of the other. When Yun Che spoke with Xia Qingyue, naturally, he would not have any sort of scruples at all.

Xia Qingyue did not bother to pay attention to what he was saying as she directly circled around him, and lightly stepped on the snow as she headed towards the north. Yun Che stood at the same spot, and said very resentfully. “You can’t… really be leaving me here alone like this, right?”

Xia Qingyue did not answer. After walking very far away, she suddenly stopped her steps, and said with an extremely soft voice. “What are you still standing there for? Hurry and catch up to me.”

“As you command!” Yun Che instantly grinned from ear to ear. With a slight tap underneath his feet, he caught up with Xia Qingyue’s side swiftly… He did not look as though he had not fully recovered from his heavy injuries at all.

The two of them headed northwards, and very quickly, they disappeared within the snowstorm.

In regards to Xia Qingyue appearing and saving him, it was impossible for him not to feel grateful in his heart. Because the person he faced back then was Mu Tianbei, an extreme expert of the Sect Master class. When Xia Qingyue saved him, she undoubtedly carried the same risk of dying under Mu Tianbei’s hands, together with him. And, at the same time, he was very puzzled… When he encountered Xia Qingyue again at Heavenly Sword Villa, he could only feel indifference from her body. Not closeness, not rejection, not coldness, but just the form of indifference that he could extremely not bear at all.

The few days after their marriage, he worked hard to plant his figure into Xia Qingyue’s heart. But, such a long period of separation, was evidently enough to completely disperse his shallow figure in Xia Qingyue’s heart. Also, to a certain degree, he believed that currently, in Xia Qingyue’s eyes, he was nothing but a normal existence whom she was binded with a marriage certificate. Someone who could she do with, and could do without. But, today, when Xia Qingyue followed him to protect him, and came out to save him, he was once again confused… He completely unable to figure out what kind of place he currently had in her heart.

To a man, if there was something in the world that he would never be able to understand, it would undoubtedly be a woman’s heart.

  1. I can’t believe it!?

I actually managed to break through… After all these years… I give thanks to all of my fellow daoists who supported me throughout the years. May the girls be with you~

  2. thanks a lot for the chapter…

I’ve commented on a few posts now to report that the site doesn’t open on chrome nor Mozilla… I don’t know if its just a problem from my part or not.. can someone contact admin please?

    1. I have to agree. What happened to the cool yun che? Now that you can’t rely on Jasmine, you go to your wife granted not for protection as your main concern, but to score…but come on their are better times for this.

  3. Man, I love Jasmine.

    My official Waifu Rankings:

    1. Cang Yue
    2. Little Fairy
    3. Jasmine 3 years from now when she reaches the magical age of 16. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
    4. Xia Qingyue “my wife”
    5. All the other pretty girls.

  4. Man I hope something bad happens to him for stupidly coming her but I have a feeling he’ll find the evil GDS water seed. I also agree Jasmine way of getting rid of him was setup d since she need resources for her rivival

  5. Thanks for the chapter!

I don’t understand why Yun Che has to continue to play-act. It seems cheap and not very respectful towards others who mean him no harm. He could simply say to Qingyue that he would like to accompany her out of respect, which would earn him far more brownie points than trying it on with the “I’m injured, so help protect me” act – or even the “you’re my wife, so act like it” arrogant ploy.

I know this is fantasy and Xianxia is very male-centric, but it still annoys me that most of the authors do not even try to inject some basic respect for women as people into their stories.

      1. Thanks for the personal attack. Very nice of you.

I am well aware that couple do play-act with each other from time to time. My complaint was that seems to be Yun Che’s only means of conversing with women – except for when he forces himself upon them, that is.

Why not have a few scenes where he is simply being a normal person/man showing respectful appreciation of other normal persons (women)? Okay, he is still a teenager, and I get that he is expected to still be a bit immature, but a 17 year old teen in Xianxia can also be expected to be relatively mature compared to a 17 year old teen in our culture. The nature of the environment forces people to “grow up” quickly.

I don’t expect a Nobel-prize winning novel when I read a Xianxia LN, but it would be nice to have it not be so formulaic and develop the characters a bit (or a bit more.) There is a simple pleasure in reading simple storytelling, sure, and I enjoy the entertainment of the stories, I just wish they were a little bit more, and more varied.

        1. I think Yun Che is actually very mature, just a bit hot-blooded after all. And I didn’t mean to offend you personally.

But here’s the thing, Yun Che is very honest and open with his personality towards people he likes, so it’s not strange that he acts playfully in front of girls like Qingyue and Cang.

You talk as if him playfully teasing girls is disrespectful, when it’s not. The girls themselves don’t see it as disrespectful and most of them see it as charming, even. In fact, this sort of attitude is exactly what a girl like Qingyue needs the most, Yun Che is the fire to thaw her ice. They compliment each other quite well. It’s only because he has such a forthcoming personality that he can pry into these girls lives and into their hearts.

    1. it is because of the types of girls he is trying to woo.

they all have position or power of some sort, and a normal ‘good guy’ won’t stand a chance. (hint: thats why they are called the good guy, they never end up with the girl lol)

So he has to agitated their feelings and create interest in him. more so for his waifu and little fairy because the very martial art they practice involves stilling the heart and freezing emotions so he has to try extra hard to keep a place in her heart.

your example of trying to earn brownie points is actually completely off-base entirely. that same line said by anybody (including him) would just result in a polite refusal before she disappeared. this is a wilderness where you are supposed to be on your own for the sake of training.

he actually gets more brownie points acting how he does now, because he shows he hasn’t changed from how he was back when he was a cripple, meaning he has integrity and values and won’t get drunk on power. he just simply refuses to bow down and take crap that he hasn’t earned.

plus you have to consider how china is as a country both in the past and now. the authors treatment of women isn’t odd because unfortunately that was how women were treated in the time period that xianxia and wuxia’s use for their setting.

      1. He already has a reasonably good relationship with Qingyue, so just having a normal conversation without all the play-acting would be viewed differently by her anyway. At least, that would be if she was not portrayed as some 2 dimensional “ice queen” and actually had some character.

And if she refuses to accompany him, then why not gracefully accept that and respect her decision? With respect, I disagree with your assertion his play-acting shows he “won’t get drunk on power”, or has “integrity and values”. It only shows he has not developed as a character in the two years since he and Qingyue parted, that is all.

I understand the cultural reasons behind the characterisations, but literary licence means an author doesn’t have to be so formulaic in how they present literature of a specific genre.

        1. With Qingyue he’d lose her for good if he changes his way. That’s because he needs her to remember the time she actually grew some emotions for him. If he became a good guy he’d lose all that work so using cheap tricks will lead to more opotunitys to be slightly nicer to her. This will also increase his standings in her mind because the more he makes her remember those times will she take longer to forget about them.

His personality is straight forward with some forcefulness but he’s only forceful with the girls he has a fancy for. This shows that person his interest and how he treats other, it also shows them some of his way of thinking. This is all done to bridge some of the gap that this world’s setting has on instilling his presence into them. If he doesn’t he’d be like everyone else and thown to the wind. Also the forcefulness helps shows his persistence in persuing her.

        1. actually this world is more equal than ours it doesn’t matter about the gender if you have power you can get respect its a matter of perspective becuz we see through yun’s eyes it looks one sided if we saw through a female’s eyes males will look objectified too. Man with no power has no respect here either ,( also he actually does respect her a great deal for helping him when he was weak he just doesn’t show it)

  6. then is the problem from my internet service or what? I tried opening it today on my phone, tab and PC. at first it was OK, but since 5 hours ago, it will open and then after 2 or 3 secs another page will appear with just an ad.
I really don’t know what to do about it…

  7. I especially signed up today to reply to this. As quite a few people seem to dislike Xia. I have to say I like her and Princess Cang the most out of all of them. For good reasons too. I like the princess because she cares about him the most and she is the girl we as readers saw Yun Che have the most interactions with.
While Xia was the only girl who saw him when he was at his lowest while she was at her peak. And yet she always treated him with respect. She let him hold her hands in front of his grandpa so that he can keep his dignity, she went out and brought a blanket for him when she saw him sleeping with another woman their wedding night, had a conversation with him on their wedding night which made Yun Che amazed that she didn’t look down on him at all, asked 1 month from her master so that she could let Yun Che keep his dignity after she left him(her master wanted to take her away immediately), made a hot soup for him with her own hands, even though she didn’t like it she let him sleep on the same bed, defended his marriage certificate and didn’t let it be touched by anyone else, she protected his family, cried her eyes out after their separation, kept her promise of finding those ingredients and herbs and carried them with her for all those years, fought with him longer in the beginning of their match since she knew how prideful Yunche was, came back to protect him even at the cost of putting herself at risk, applied firstaid after their match, was gonna give him some pills straight away but was stopped by the sight of Cang Yue…

For being a cold individual, these things didn’t come naturally to her but she still did it. Out of all the girls she did the most things for Yun Che apart from maybe his little aunt ( who I don’t really like as her interactions were supposed to have happened before the story started and we didn’t really see much between them)
The main reason I like Xia is because she was there for him when he was at his lowest all broken down in front of his shitty family, she was always sure to keep his dignity intact, she was someone who wondered who in this world could understand him properly which meant she wanted to really know the real him. Yes the other girls saw the Yun Che who was a potentially talented martial artist but Xia was the first one who saw the strength of yun Che’s personality in a broken body and the first one to give him dignity.

The other bit was her interactions with Yun Che were definitely the funniest and quickest when they got married as Yun Che slowly brought down her barriers..I just think people disliking her just because she has a poker face is too much.

In short I like all the girls but Xia and Cang the most followed closely by Little Fairy.

    1. You make some very good points, fellow daoist. She’s definitely a good girl and she has treated our Man Che well, but I think that we can all agree that he had to work hard for it. I do not dislike her and I don’t think many people do, but the question we all have to ask ourselves is this:

Is Xia Qingyue a better waifu than Cang Yue, Little Fairy or Jasmine? And the overall consensus seems to be that she’s not (yet). But as with all things… Time will tell.

      1. Yes like I said in my post I like princess Cang and Xia equally with Little a fairy only behind by a hairs gap. While Jasmine isn’t in the race yet.

He did have to work hard as after all chasing is half the fun and more the worth. Also, her assumption and good impression of his personality were something that he didn’t have to work hard for. Just by talking to him she knew that he was a dignified man and not just a broken shell. She even took Yun Che by surprise how she didn’t look down on him at all. as well as her postponing her departure to Frozen Asgard were all taken before Yun Che starting her work on her. So these things were done by her of her own account without Yun Che doing anything for her or using his charm on her.

    2. Actually you’re wrong about Xia being the first girl to see the potential in him, despite him essentially having been a cripple at the time. That accomplishment belongs to little Aunt, who had stuck up for him since they were little babbies.

    3. i agree with a lot of the things you said, just he wasn’t at his weakest, he already had memories from the other world. the best one in that sense is little aunt, but she didn’t have enough screen time. i really want more little aunt…. well the 3 years are almost over muahahahah
well xia agreed to merry the old yun che anyway so she was still good to him, but only yuanba and little aunt were close to him

      1. That makes it even better. Even though little Aunt and Yuanba were with him they took him as someone that needed to be taken care of and protected while Xia was the first one who saw the MAN in the broken boy. She saw that he didn’t want to be protected, instead he would much prefer to be given self respect.

Little Aunt was more like a childhood friend that you have around all your life. But the fact that Xia understood the fire within Che without ever meeting him before makes it even better. I dare say even if it was the real Yun Che she would’ve still tried to be good to him

  8. Thank you for the chapter!

At some point, our MC seems to be cunning and vicious at an exact time, sometimes will be an extremely genius person in plotting in either to his enemy or even to his every future wife candidates (lets just say a harem, that will do), but some time around, our MC would also be unexpectedly a huge dumb dense man when an obvious revelation is already hanging in his hands.

Its already only a matter of time for our Smooth Che to have another +1 loyal wife realm breakthrough!!

  9. Thanks for the chapter!

I admit, I’m a little annoyed with Yun Che at this point. I feel like he could have made smarter arrangements for his travel in the heavenly realm, but plot interceded. Ah well, I suppose it’s Qingyue’s turn to be wooed.

  10. I think you haven’t read my post properly. I did mention little aunt as I am well aware that she stuck by Yun Che ever since they were young but like I said in my previous post that it doesn’t matter much to me since the story didn’t start from when he was a baby. So most of the supposed development between little aunt and him weren’t showed to us. I am one of those who don’t like offscreen development. And as such I have little fondness for Little Aunt. It’s the same for Yun Ches first love in his previous life when the other girl sacrificed herself so even though I can tell Yun Che loved that girl strongly none of it was shown to us yet, so I can’t really relate.

    1. No, I did read your comment properly. I was responding to this specifically:

“The main reason I like Xia is because she was there for him when he was at his lowest all broken down in front of his shitty family,”

I just wanted to point out that although Xia was there for him during those tough times, so was little auntie, and for a lot longer at that. Xia was only in the picture for about a week or so.

      1. The aunt was there but she had no strength. Instead Xia saved her for him. As she couldn’t bear to see the proud Yun Che all broken like that. So little aunt without strength was only a burden who had to be ultimately saved by his wife. Which is what a wife is supposed to do, protect her husband’s dignity and his family.

I am not saying Little Aunt didn’t do anything. All I am saying the is, those happened off-screen with the dead Yun Che, but from when the story started, it was Xia and Yun Che’s interactions and later it was Cang who spent the most time on screen.

Like I have been saying I don’t like offscreen development. Plus don’t like the “aunt” in the Little Aunt as they grew up thinking they were related.

        1. Well yeah, technically Qingyue did contribute quite a bit, but I think it’s the thought that counts.

Example: a millionaire giving you 2 dollars versus a poorman giving you 1 dollar.
The millionaire contributed more, sure, but the poorman certainly gave you a bigger chunk of his share.
Not to mention that Qingyue didn’t do those things for free, she had a strong obligation of duty since Che’s father saved her life and died in the process.

  11. thanks for the chapter, and I agree with Yun Che no man, I don’t care how hard your try or say you do, we will not be able to understand a woman heart. That is the only thing that we will never get my friends but it still does not hurt to try

  12. It would have been great if you had casually sliced him into half, it would have saved you time and effort as well! Y-y-y-you… You will definitely be a spoiled woman when you grow up in the future.”

Heh, and I think the one who said this(yun che) is exactly the one who is going to spoil her, a lot.

I also feel kinda sorry for jasmine, I’m happy she sealed her power, it’s too cheap to rely on someone else like this all the time, his dependence isn’t that good. By being selfish like this and forcing her to attack his enemies, he is really not gaining any plus points, perhaps now when he won’t be relying that much on her, she will begin to warm up and start to like him. He needs to put in some serious effort and time to conquer this little princess’s heart.
