Tracking And The Statue

The beautiful eyes of the Snake Dowager seemed to see into fragments of the future, penetrating the long river of destiny.

After her prophecy, the Snake Dowager coiled back into the ball, seeming to sink back into a deep slumber.

“What’s going on? I feel like somebody’s watching me and I have an ominous feeling!”

The very instant the Snake Dowager’s sight set into the Magus World, Leylin who was in the midst of flying, felt his hair stand on end. An odd mixture of terror and reverence appeared in his mind.

“The Snake Dowager…” Leylin felt a bitterness in his mouth. Never had he expected that once he had advanced into a rank 5 Warlock, he would arouse her interest.

‘But this is the Magus World. It isn’t that easy for her to come over!’ Whether this sort of attention was good or bad, Leylin had no wish to form any sort of relationship with an existence at such a level. He’d always liked to operate after careful planning, and even if it was the Snake Dowager, he hoped to seek her out only after making his own preparations. That was better than being passive and letting her find him.

‘A Radiant Moon strength shouldn’t be enough to arouse the interest of the Snake Dowager, unless…’ Leylin touched his chin, light flickering in his eyes, ‘Could it be that my Kemoyin Serpent Emperor bloodline is making her feel… threatened?’

Leylin couldn’t help but turn his attention back to the summary the A.I. Chip had given him about his bloodline, specifically the row that detailed his control ability.

“Kemoyin Serpent Emperors have a total dominance over Giant Kemoyin Serpents and all their descendants. Could this result in some overlap and conflict with the Snake Dowager’s own rule?”

Leylin suddenly had the urge to try it out. If he and the Snake Dowager were to give a Kemoyin Warlock an order at the same time, what would they do?

However, such an insane idea was quickly suppressed. With his current strength, challenging the Snake Dowager’s authority is equivalent to death.

The ability of the Kemoyin Serpent Emperor to rule over others was, in fact, a breakthrough for him to resist the Snake Dowager’s control over himself. It was like a seedling that needed to be watered regularly until it bloomed and bore fruit.

Before all this, he needed to keep a low profile, silently amassing strength and prepare to soar, waiting till he completely broke through the bloodline shackles and also broke free from the control of the Snake Dowager!

“I’ve found it! This is it— Mount Asura…” A few figures robed in black appeared over a volcano. Large amounts of lava spurted into the sky, but it bypassed their bodies without even so much as a ripple.

“Time Recall!” One of the black robed figures looked solemn as he used a spell, dazzling light being generated at his fingertips.

The translucent face of a mirror suddenly appeared before him, revealing a blurred scenery.

After summoning this mirror, the black-robed figure seemed fatigued as he spoke to another Magus behind him, “Carol, it’s up to you now, you’re the most adept in this aspect…”

“Alright!” While the Magus behind him was wearing a black robe, her physique was evidently smaller than the others, and her voice was gentle and agreeable.

“Aura Extraction!” She stood before the screen, right arm as smooth and bright as jade as it went through the surface, grabbing hold of a black gas.

*Wooh wooh…* After this stream of gas appeared, the magic equipment on the bodies of these people displayed a dazzling luster and made noises.

“The nose of the hound has reacted. Looks like he was here before, and not too long ago either!” The leading Magus spoke with conviction.

A Magus began to gnash his teeth. “And here we were thinking he’d return to the south coast. Who’d have thought he’d escape into the underground like a mouse!”

Leylin’s concealing techniques were far too complicated, and even Magi who excelled in prophecies could do nothing against him. Things were even more complicated for these Magi.

However, the powerful organisation backing them had gathered a lot of information, and through the method of elimination, they’d found a trace of Leylin’s whereabouts.

The Magus who had spoken before evidently was very hostile towards Leylin, emanating a dangerous air. “Warlocks have enhanced bodies, and their skin is the best raw material for art pieces. This Leylin’s skin will be a perfect addition to my study room!”

The female Magus from before shrieked, “Eugene, if you don’t change that disgusting hobby, I’ll break off all relations with you!”

“Enough! Though the target is merely a Morning Star, it’s publicly acknowledged that he possesses battle strength at the Radiant Moon realm. Don’t underestimate him!” The leader said, putting a stop to their conversation, “Be more careful. He’s taken a Radiant Moon down before; if you don’t want your truesoul to be thrown back into the astral plane, buck up and don’t look down on your opponent!”

“Hmph! I alone can take care of two Radiant Moons like Stuart!” Eugene huffed disdainfully, but did not continue speaking after that.

After all, he believed that he could defeat Stuart, but he had no methods that could cause the other party’s death.

Not even a peak Radiant Moon or Breaking Dawn Monarch dared guarantee that they could eliminate a Radiant Moon Magus without letting their opponent escape. Leylin, who possessed the power to kill a Radiant Moon Magus, was very outstanding.

“Though he made use of a bloodline imprint to kill Stuart, even I have to admit that he’s a genius to be able to push the Giant Kemoyin bloodline to the peak of Morning Star until it is comparable to Radiant Moons. He’s a real genius! Even in ancient times, he would be one of the most dazzling stars!” Carol’s voice held a sigh within.

“A genius amongst Warlocks!” The leader spoke coldly, causing Carol to fall silent, “The more geniuses the enemy has, the weaker we are. Leylin must be erased!” His voice was icy cold, and Eugene and Carol nodded solemnly.

“Boss, I just don’t understand. Even if Leylin’s amazing now, he has the Giant Kemoyin Serpent bloodline. Kemoyin’s Pupil only has up to four levels, and the Morning Star realm is his limit. Why are we hunting him down so fervently? Even while we were chasing Golden Lion Wayde when he was a Morning Star, we didn’t operate on such a large scale…” Carol’s face was full of doubt, and Eugene’s ears perked up.

“That’s because you don’t understand the terror that is the Giant Kemoyin Serpent…” The leading Magus answered coldly, but did not continue, leaving Carol and Eugene bewildered.

“I don’t care what you think, but whatever it is, killing Leylin Farlier is the most important task sent down by our organisation. It must be completed, even at the cost of our lives!” The leader’s expression was solemn.

Carol and Eugene nodded coldly. Amongst Magi, this was truly a rare sight. To be able to bind the ever-rational Magi to this extent meant the organisation backing them was exceptionally powerful.

“In addition, Leylin as he is right now is very difficult to deal with, especially with people from the Warlock Union meddling. They’re rather protective of this younger generation…”

In spite of the warning, Eugene was full of confidence. “Don’t worry, boss! If the real bodies of those Warlocks dare emerge from the Morning Star area, our Monarch wouldn’t let them off so easily…”

“Mm! Based on the intel, the target had been a ruler of Twilight Zone for a period of time and must be extremely familiar with the situation there. We need to act very cautiously when we go down there…”

The leading Magus continued to express his caution before three flickering rays of light pierced into the lava like sharp blades, following the lava pathway and sinking downwards.

If even Morning Star Magi could pass through the barrier, there was no issue at all for Radiant Moons.

In Twilight Zone, the headquarters of Nature’s Alliance Academy.

The academy had now regained its previous vibrance. Ever since Leylin’s return, the humans of Twilight Zone broke away from the darkness of war, and even gained a glorious victory! All this would have been unimaginable in the past, but had been easily attained with Leylin’s arrival.

Leylin’s gigantic black stone statue was still at the center of the bustling square in all its glory, but now there was another in the corner.

This statue had a distorted human face, nose and eyes squeezed together due to extreme shock and terror; it seemed rather comical. Coupled with the assumed motion of the body, it looked like a clown, creating a stark contrast with Leylin’s statue in the middle.

Whenever a few of the official Magi in the academy passed by the statue, their eyes filled with a trace of panic that did not dissipate for a long while.

This clownish stone statue was naturally that Banker from before. Though he was a rank 3 Magus who was once regarded as the strongest human, he’d been killed by Leylin without any chance to retaliate. Even his body had become a stone figure, exhibited here for eternity to be sneered at by later generations.

This method immediately resulted in incessant terror in the Magi’s hearts. There were also some who were filled with reverence towards Leylin.

“What is it? Is there anything else?” In the luxurious villa, Leylin reclined on the sofa, watching the Magus that seemed to be short of time.

It was obvious that this young man was extremely nervous, his eyes showed his admiration and apprehension at meeting his idol face to face.

“Lord Protector!” Will’s face was filled with emotion and uneasiness, “If you knew my mother, would you know about my father?”

“Jenny never told you?” Leylin watched Will with interest. It had to be said that he was still somewhat similar to his father.

“No. Everytime she talked about it, she got so sorrowful…” Will hanged his head low.

“There are some things we don’t know, and something things we can’t tell you even if we knew!” Leylin laughed as he stroked Will’s head. “The only thing I can tell you is that I’d chosen to bring you into Nature’s Alliance Academy…”

53 thoughts on “WMW Chapter 619” - NO SPOILERS and NO CURSING

  1. I wonder if the Snake Dowenger who is interested in Leylin shall see his involvement in the Ororoborus Clan as beneath him or mistaken and take it upon herself to correct said circumstance…. Maybe Leylin can eventually dominate dowenger without killing her but who knows…

  2. How everybody here thinks she will do something evil. I think you forgot, that all kemoyin Warlok are her subordinates/children, why would she kill a bunch of them if there is nothing in for her. leylin will meet her anyways .
I think she will give him a chance, to see what he will accomplish.
I would even guess, that when he actually manages to break the bloodline shackles and become somthing completely new, she might want him as a mate :p
as mom of all snakes, i think developements that will strengthen her children are favorable to her.

    1. She won’t want to kill him, but as has been established, she can control lesser serpents via their bloodlines. So no random murder, more like an eternity of enslavement. Arguably worse.

Consider this; Leylin is cold, calculating and scheming, but arguably no more than any other magi, and certainly not less than a powerful existance that has reached supreme heights of power (niceness doesn’t get you to the top). What would happen if in the Ouroboros clan, which Leylin can now control utterly, a new genius rank 3 warlock appeared, who seemed to have a rare bloodline? Is Leylin going to say “oh, jolly good, keep going and maybe you’ll reach my level some day.”

No. At best, that warlock might be a subordinate, but far more likely, Leylin is going to take them apart piece by piece to see how they work. Why would the snake dowager do any different?

  3. “The power of destiny is guiding you here.” Is… an interesting sentence considering how we know that Leylin was able to avoid a fated death earlier before he even became a Morning Star. As a Radiant Moon his influence should be even greater. The Snake Dowager is a Rank 7 or possibly a Rank 8 being, her power should be able to nullify the influence of his strength but can she nullify his influence as a foreign soul?
This might be an important factor when they finally meet since beings who can divine Fate tend to rely on what they’ve seen as truth, as far as we’ve seen.
As a final note, isn’t it in his interests to purify Freya’s bloodline to minimize the deterioration of it in his decendants? Maybe even developing a technique to slowly but surely purify one’s bloodline to neutralize deterioration in later generations? After all, from what I’ve gathered, breaking the bloodline shackles won’t nullify the assistance the bloodline provides, will it?

    1. He doesn’t need to purify Freya blood and he will not experimenting his wife. But since Leylin now has a higher rank bloodline maybe just him impregnate freya would be enough for her to reap the benefits. Kimoyin serphant emperor seed in her womb might effect her bloodline.

Guess we’ll have to wait till Leylin decided to spread his seed around. Now that his bloodline has evolved maybe he’ll start it soon, celine might be get it first considering she’s the closest to him atm.

      1. No, he’s not spreading his seed anywhere. He went trough so much trouble just to keep his seed from being forcibly extracted and now he’s just gonna start spreading it willy-nilly? What nonsense are you speaking?

        1. The key word being “forcibly extracted”… he doesn’t want to be forced against his will. And the only reason he didn’t spread his seed was because he wanted quality of his descendants over quantity….

          1. From what I understand of his character I don’t think he would treat his family like that. He didn’t have kids until now just because he didn’t want for his children to used as breeding machines after they discover the purity of their blood.

  4. Thanks for the chapter. ^^
I wonder if that organization knows about the Kemoyin Serpent Emperor and fears Leylin could become a Radiant Moon, which he already did.

    1. I wonder what the go with Baelin is though….

      5 choices
      1. New Child of Destiny thing ? (woulda thought the World chooses that non hereditary)
      2. Non-Significant Servant (my new rank 3 plebmo substitute until I have a use for this place again)
      3. Significant Servant (He is rank 2 now if he is peak rank 2 and given a windfall maybe he could be like his father and make shockingly fast progress)
      4. A toy to torment
      5. Something to devour….

      (I honestly think 4 and 5)

      1. I’d be more inclined to think 1 or 4. But with number 1, his destiny ought to be to avenge his father (or at least you’d think so). So that would be counter productive to Leylin unless he gets a method to alter fate/destiny.

It raises an interesting side story nonetheless.

        1. The one thing I actually kinda wish Leylin had was someone who was a bio-enhancer as a body guard/attendant… I dunno branded swordsmen, multi-limbs and stuff I kinda really like that aspect of the story. I wouldn’t have hated someone who ‘was looking for life and death struggles via combat’… to be in the story along side him. Just cos you could then up the difficulty of enemies and if you had Leylin the OP warlock along side some kind of monstrous unyielding berserker of similar but inferior strength I thought it would be cool. Just cos this would be strength he could use and would not have to compete vastly with resources with, as such it would be a benifit….

I get the magus path is the lonely path as well as the extent to which he would go to get it but as much as I like this story the one thing I think it lacked was some kind of real connection between Leylin and well anyone else in the story at all… (Just an opinion not a seminal criticism or anything)

It is like this thing with Freya (he will definitely start a family….) um will he ? does he actually care enough ? The best she has gotten in his mind was a few observations and a passing thought of neglect. I dunno who or what it is… but I’d like to see Leylin take on some subordinate or love interest (with benefit in mind) and possibly lose it…. Just to spice up the story a little….

This offspring from insignificant rank 2 magi…. ‘Why do I care ?’… if he lives or dies i just don’t care… I am more interested by the idea of HOW he lives or dies…. I am more interested in speculating at which kind of specific miserable end this poor sod will have. If he explicitly has a connection to fate or whatever that means he could be significant in the storyline if not…. well the rant above covers not.

          1. Interesting take on the matter. In my view Leylin is likely incapable of love. The minute I read a chapter with Leylin in love, I will be gobsmacked.

His pragmatism is the stories greatest ace, so it would be interesting to see Leylin care about someone and then decide whether to be pragmatic or not. I’ll admit that.

        2. I can’t comment to your other reply so I’ll do it here…. Love Story is a bunch of crap but here is a scenerio.
          1. He is interested in his bloodline control gives freya child
          2. He finds child to have high comprehension etc….
          3. Loses child (dead)
          4. Vengeance
I’d like him to encounter a companion or love interest just a significant relation within context he himself reaps massive benefits from them and in turn invest in them to receive more benefits and then probably see them die… Perhaps he himself could make a mistake be rescued by them (something he would never do !) and then in turn aside from benefits in anger he wages a war of pure vengance… Making him darker and colder than before, upsetting his kemoyin bloodline (situation to later solve)….OR perhaps even betrayed by that person….

I’d just like to see this multiverse of magi world to be able to disrupt his heart just once, only once and perhaps that make him vow to make it never happen again…. Becoming more isolated

There are many points in the story where leylin looks after subordinates, has done others good like Bicky etc… I would love just to see that in a more flushed out constant and then have Leylin disturbed by that.

          1. I understand where you’re coming from. All I can say for now is that WMW is in a highly interesting set of arcs. I used to be able to let chapters build up. At the moment I’m hooked.

        3. I love WMW it stands apart from other LN in too many good and significant ways. If the arcs are interesting enough and continue to be so its all good. We are only half way through anyways and the story from my point of view has been getting better all along… Like I said that was just an opinion and by no means a necessity… The prose in this story that relate to the ‘stat attributes’… Leylin’s own accumulation, storyline progress and battles is already pretty compact and dense for an L.N. it might be my fancy might actually detract from other elements in the story.

I have particularly loved these last few chapters, big events that had been foreshadowed for ages and really eventful… The pacing of Icy World was amazing It happened so fast but was substantive, with more foreshadow and the 3 v 1 radiant moon encounter… Frankly if the author can keep laying golden eggs like this I can’t wait until the end… Many L.N. are good for a couple hundred chapters then *yawn*….. WMW has the makings of a true modern epic.

      2. It could also be some kind of atonement. If Baelin had not been a Child of Destiny then I’m sure that Leylin would not have even think about killing him, after all he even keep a eye with Baelin which mean he cared about him. Leylin take care of his people and help them when it is needed if it is posible and doesn’t cost him too much so I’m sure Baelin wasn’t a exception, surely part of the set to put him with Jenny was because of this too, but Baelin unfortunaly become a Child of Destiny and Leylin put his profit before anything else so he couldn’t let him go, that doesn’t mean that he completly liked the idea of killin Baelin and he even let out a sigh becuse of this. Now that he has Baelin’s son in front of him he may wish to take care of Will and maybe even let him in charge of the Twilight zone in his place later on in order to pay Baelin a little.

    1. I was like a second father to your dad… he used to have stars in his eyes and I even taught him the sword… Until one day

      WUT… Devoured… FeelsBadMan… FeelsBad

  5. Thanks for the chapter OMA and Theo! Jenny should hate Leylin for killing her husband who had blind faith in Leylin before being killed to create the Coin of Destiny. Guess she never told Will since Leylin is too strong of an opponent.

    1. She probably didn’t ever know that Leylin killed Baelin, what he did in the coliseum is a secret few people knows and no one but Baelin and the other young bad guy (Forgot the name) know about his relationship with Baelin, that is why they even belive Will is Leylin’s son. I think Jenny only knew that Baelin went in a grand adventure and then disapeared after she got pregnat, she may not be sure if Baelin died or if she was left behind thought she probably think he just died somewhere. Thought if she discovered that Leylin Kill Baelin it is also posible that she hid it because what you say.

  6. Poor Will chan. Jack would tell you to run and hide…but you’re too weak…
    Thank you for the chapter!

  7. “There are some things we don’t know, and something things we can’t tell you even if we knew!” Leylin laughed as he stroked Will’s head. “The only thing I can tell you is that I’d chosen to bring you into Nature’s Alliance Academy…”

Yeah, of course it’d be hard to say “I killed your father when he was fighting for justice, turning him into a good-luck coin” 😛
