Vol 3: Chapter 3-2.

Lori tried her best to open her eyes. Her pale face broke into a smile. “Pervert, hurry and run, you don’t want to carry Lori anymore?”

Tears streamed down Zheng’s face. Lori’s face seemed turn into that of ten years ago, when all her hair fell off, when she was skinny as a skeleton, yet she kept this same smile, calling him the same pervert, and he… didn’t want to lose her a second time.

Even though Zheng was heartbroken inside, he still carried Lori and sprinted upstairs. “Lori, talk to me, don’t stop talking to me… don’t fall asleep, Lori, you promised to stay by my side until our hair turns silver, I kept our promise and survived, so don’t break your promise again… please, live on with me!”

“But what should I say? I’m so sleepy, pervert, I want to sleep… want me to sing you a song?”

Zheng was running faster and faster, then:

His left leg snapped at the point of the gunshot. Unprepared for it, he fell backward and rolled down the stairs. He embraced Lori in his arms to protect her from the fall.

Luckily Zheng was only up a few steps up this set of stairs and the fall didn’t cause much injury. He got up as soon as he landed then bound Lori on his back with the vest. He started climbing the stairs using his hands and knees. Yet dragging that broken leg slowed his speed in half.

Zheng clenched his teeth, raised the knife and slashed at his left leg. He was still in the unlocked mode, the muscles on the cut off point squeezed together to stop the bleeding. Zheng continued climbing up the stairs.

Lori’s singing echoed by his ears, yet that song felt so sentimental. Tears had blurred his vision. His nails soon flipped and torn under the intense climbing, leaving his hands looking bloody and horrifying.

Her voice was getting weaker and weaker. Zheng screamed like an animal. He sprinted toward the floor of his office and rammed at the door. The office was bright as in daylight despite that none of the lights were on. The brightness came from a computer screen. Zheng raised his head and looked forward. Outside the windows floated several helicopters. They were probably attracted by the brightness also. As soon as they saw Zheng, the snipers aimed their rifles at him. Almost simultaneously, their communication device rang.

“… Yes, sir. They… disappeared!”
The same half awaken staten. When Zheng regained consciousness, he saw the people in front of him looking surprised. They were Jie, Lan, Zero, and… Xuan!

He carried Lori then shouted to God, “God! Hurry and heal her injuries…”

Jie suddenly shouted, “Wait, wait!”

He ran over and took over Lori. “God, heal her injuries and deduct the points from me!”

Zheng was still in shock, but Jie shouted, “Hurry and heal your own injuries. I know you don’t have too many points left. If your points are negative you will get erased! Hurry and heal your injuries!”

He watched as a beam of light shone down on Lori. She immediately floated to midair, her pale face started to gain back color. “God, heal my injuries!”

The repair process cost Zheng over 400 points. His left leg also grew back. Lori had been waiting for him on the ground. Once he landed on the ground, she jumped into his arms.

“Lori… stand behind me.”

Zheng smiled at her then charged at Xuan with the knife. Only Zero reacted in time, he threw Xuan to the ground but that knife still took an arm off Zero.

Jie immediately got ahold of Zheng and shouted, “Zheng! You gone mad? What are you doing to your own people?”

“Our own people? F*ck! I spent the points and reward to go back for everyone but do you know what he did? He put the positioning device from his watch in this knife! You know why I came back like this? I was chased back! Social Security arrested me, I struggled to come back at the last second! Do you still think he counts as one of us?”

Everyone looked at Xuan. He got up from the floor as if nothing happened. “Is that so? Then my conjectures are correct…”

Zheng kicked at his chest and knocked him over ten feet away. Blood gushed out of Xuan’s mouth.

“F*ck!” Zheng screamed. “Is my life so worthless? Just for your stupid conjectures? And we were even allies, I risked my life in the last movie! Is this how you pay someone back? I will kill you now!”

Jie tried to hold him back, but Zheng was so much stronger than him. As Zheng walked toward Xuan, Lan shouted, “You want to kill Lori? Killing someone will cost you 1000 points. Do you have 1000 points now? You can kill yourself if you want to but why do you have to drag her along?”

Zheng stopped his steps, his face looked less crazy but still hideous. “Xuan, I don’t know how long the Social Security will lock up my parents. I won’t kill you but I will cut off your limbs. You can repair them but I will do it again! You will either starve to death or get erased because you can’t get into the circle of light!”

Xuan sat up and brushed off the blood on his mouth. He said calmly, “What about the positioning device? You threw it away?”

“Of course, do you think I will bring it back to you?”

Xuan nodded. “Then I can promise that nothing will happen to your parents. In fact the positioning device can also store a limited amount of information. I entered the existence of this world and also exchanged blueprints of some advanced technologies. If you left the positioning device in the real world, they will release your parents and even give them better care. This I can promise.”

Zheng had started to calm down a bit. He said coldly. “How can I trust you? And why did you do this? Why do you do this even if it breaks our alliance? If you don’t give me a reason, I will cut off your limbs!”

Xuan smiled calmly. “Good, then listen to my reasons… I have three reasons why I wanted to do this.

“First, to test whether the ‘Real World’ you go to is the original world we were from. Because since God can create the horror worlds, that real world may also be a virtual world. The only way to prove it isn’t is if something you’re unexpecting of happens. Just like me putting the positioning device on your knife. You don’t know about this. Only the military base from my memory can receive a signal from that device. If you came back without a scratch, that means the real world you went to was created by God. But if you encountered people from the Social Security, then that is the actual real world. Judging from your injuries, we’ve entered God’s world with our body. That also means the things we exchanged and our body enhancements can also be brought back. This is the first point I wanted to prove.

“Second, I think God probably gave you some limitation when you went back. Can you tell us the limitations?”D

Zheng replied coldly, “Yes, first you can’t tell anyone about God’s world in any way. Second, you must go back to where you were transported at a fixed time; like I pressed YES in front of my computer, so I must go back there in thirty days. Third, you must be in contact with everything that belonged to you. Otherwise those items would be left in the real world. If the item could only be obtained from God’s world, then it would be erased.”

Xuan adjusted his glasses. “As expected, almost identical to my speculation. Can’t tell the other world about God’s world? Yet I haven’t been erased, so my second point is God doesn’t have the ability to think. It is just a supercomputer that’s running a program!

“Because I got you to bring the positioning device to the real world when you weren’t aware of it. You didn’t know the information it contained, yet it revealed the existence of God’s world. According to the rules, the one disclosing this information will be erased, but I am still here. That means this rule only applies to people returned to the real world. I was still in God’s world so even if I disclosed the information, nothing will happen. Similarly, because you don’t know anything about me doing it, you didn’t get erased. Therefore I can assert that God doesn’t have the ability to think. It will only follow a set of rules. It is only a supercomputer and not an organism with thinking ability!”

Zheng shouted, “So what?! I don’t care if it’s a computer or whatever, because of your setup, we almost lost our lives! Just for your conjectures?!”

Xuan ignored him and continued. “Once you know it’s a program, then we can get around its limitations for many things. It will be the same in horror movies…It’s pointless saying this to you. The third reason, I wish to bring some advanced technologies back. If the first two conjectures are sound, then the government should have those blueprints. They should have also received my message. In my message, I told them to find some special agents and hypnotize them to be disappointed with life. Then have them stay in front of the computers all day long. This way we might get some special agents in our team and that will increase our chance of survivability by a lot…

“Sorry that got you in danger. This was off from my speculations. I thought they could find you earlier. Once they found the positioning device on the knife, you could come back safely… This is my fault. If you still want to kill me, go ahead, I won’t resist.”

Xuan stood there calmly after saying all this. Yet Zheng hesitated, then he threw the knife on the ground. “F*ck! If you’d let me know this earlier, it’s not like I don’t love my country, I would’ve brung the positioning device back. I hate how you set up your allies, don’t you have any normal emotions in your thinking?”

Xuan replied calmly, “I couldn’t tell you anything beforehand. If you had these details in your memory, then God could erase you accordingly, because this could be seen as a way of you sending out the message. It had to be done when you were completely unaware of everything.”

Zheng took a deep breath. “I can’t trust you anymore! No matter how dangerous the next movie is, we will terminate our alliance! Don’t ever set me up again, otherwise I will kill you with my own hands! I promise!”

Zheng took Lori’s hand and walked back to his room in silence. Jie and Lan both sighed and went to their rooms. The only ones left in the platform were Zero repairing under a light beam and Xuan…

He picked up the knife then walked back to his room in silence…

  1. Great now that that idiot leaked future tech to china they get to go back to the world of fallout. MC needs to set up Xuan in the next scenario, cuz that dude aint looking to share power and will get all of them killed before they can get the prize.

    1. I agree this enemy as an ally thing isnt my favorite. Especially when on several occassions hes tried to throw your life away. Xuan has vastly lowered my enjoyment of this novel (although i still like it, that mostly because the other stuff is really good).

      1. I have complicated feelings about Xuan.
I fully understand, that whenever he seems to act in absurd, silly, and absolutely malicious ways — it’s only because I do not understand his actions, so I label them as “Evul or insanely stupid”. But the crux of the matter, is that even if I judge him unfairly a few good number of times, it still shows that I am greatly unsatisfied with Xuan. He keeps too much things in secret, allows other to misunderstand them, and then reveals how much things did not go according to his plan, and apologizes. He’s just not a fun character to have around. He causes too much drama.

I’m aware that Xuan, at this point, became a pretty crucial character. I bet he’ll even try to “hack god”, which is something nobody among the cast can even begin to imagine. Xuan has a lot of benefit to his existence, almost absurdly too much, so he cannot just die like that. But he needs to start learning the idea of consequence.

        1. crucial my ass. he got a d rank reward too. he could have gone back and given the device. but he is too important to use himself. i hope the mc actually removes his limbs in the next movie and leaves him to die.

      1. I believe that is the translation issue.I have read the chinese version and it’s hard to find a proper way to translate “se lang” which means “Lothario” and would be said by general chinese girls when they call their lover.

  2. I am seriously annoyed and razed right now for having to stop reading this.
I trusted wuxiaworld and start reading it. I didn’t think I will find such an indecisive and loser mc.
The fact that he didn’t kill xuan is enough to make me stop reading.

    This is really frustrating.

    1. He couldn’t kill Xuan because his points would go into negative, and both he and Lori would then be erased. However, he should, in the next movie, cripple Xuan and throw him to whatever monster(s) the movie is about.

Also, Xuan’s so-called “wisdom” isn’t really so wise, or smart. As Zheng said, anything from the God-world that he isn’t holding onto when transporting back gets erased – and that means the info Xuan sent back. I know it was explained as “anything belonging to the one sent back”, but if “God” is an AI it can’t know that anything Zheng carries doesn’t “belong” to him. This is an obvious plot-hole the author didn’t think of.

Anyway, apart from the sociopathic Xuan who isn’t actually all that “wise” or “smart”, I quite enjoy the story.

      1. It’s not a flaw. The positioning device is pure earth tech. It came to the world with Xuan. So it could go back and stay back without issues.

Imagine all of God’s items have a bar code stamped on each atom. The position device wouldn’t have that bar code. It would be transported because it has atoms, but it wouldn’t be on God’s delete index if it got left behind.

        1. He was talking about the Knowledge of god’s world, not the storage device itself (the knowledge should’ve disappeared. Any written letters, spoken words, pictures, anything. Not the device itself. Because any knowledge that came from god, can only exist within god’s world.)
The question is, if you write “god exist” on a normal piece of paper, does that count as “something that can only exist in God’s World”? That’s not a specified limitation, unlike directly informing someone that god exists.

I also find a problem with accepting this scenario, because Xuan claims that everything turned out fine (to their knowledge, maybe the blueprints disappeared the moment Zhang went back), because of Ownership, and Intention.

Because Zhang had ownership of the device (since he took it as his baggage), and because Zhang had no intention to directly expose god’s world, Zhang was fine, and Xuan was fine because the ownership of the device went to Zhang, but he had the intention to expose god, while he was within god’s world. This is some form of a deadlock for god, because nobody fits its criteria for exposing itself.

But this is a problem. It’s too much of a flaw.
It can detect at any given time, when someone tries to expose god (read his mind? record his voice?), which means it can understand that the sounds human make, according to specific patterns, creates the meaning and knowledge of god’s world, thus exposing it, but it cannot understand that a photo can expose it as well? You want to tell me, god is capable of actively scan his players at all times, wherever they are, but god cannot scan something as simple as visual proof (photos), physical symbols which construct meaning (letters)? Its lexicology and epistemological capabilities are just plain silly. It’s as if whomever programmed god, did not expect anyone to write a note, or draw / take a picture of it. That’s too impossible. Right now, god is just programmed to check if someone actively SAYS that god exists, and if they have the INTENTION to expose god. It’s all about the human oneself, not about the evidence itself. How can god not scan the actual evidence? That’s nuts.

For an instance, if god permitted it, Xuan could’ve sent a picture of god’s world away to any reality, and Xuan would be fine, because Xuan is in god’s world, and the image itself cannot have intention, as it’s not alive. This is too much of a flaw within the system to be believable. I certainly do admit it’s pretty clever, it’s a mind-bender, but I don’t find something like that to be possible. It both sounds like god is beyond belief how well it’s programmed (be able to scan brain / soul when exposing god), but be unable to detect / understand that pictures and letters also are also capable of exposing it. Currently, god only thinks that only living creatures can expose it, and nothing else.

    2. Indecisive and loser?

So you’re indecisive if he tried to kill Xuan with only 200+ pts. remaining, cut off the alliance, cut off Zero’s arm, assaulted him to the point of coughing blood and threatened to cut off his limbs again and again until he run out of points? Is that a loser for you?

Although he didn’t cut off limbs, the still took damage. It’s not that he doesn’t want to kill him he just CAN’T. If he do, he and Lori dies.

      @Duck of Death
Debatable. Who knows? After all it doesn’t really “belong” to Zheng but to Xuan. He just “carried it off unknowingly”. If you mean belong=carrying off, then it’s also possible. Whether the blueprints were erased or not after Zheng left the real world, no one knows for sure. We could only continue reading.

  3. So from the start when mc get to the god’s place time in real world was going as well, but when he go back to the real world for 30 days time stopped in god’s place or trials don’t started for 30 days?

    1. That is exactly what I was thinking as well. The real world time and the time in God’s place was supposed to be in sync (since his parents and coworkers told him that he had been missing for a while). So, I don’t understand why the 30 days he took in the real world didn’t take up 30 days in God’s place. The others should have already been in the next movie by now since they are supposed to go to the next movie after 10 days from when they finished the last movie…

      1. You’re both thinking too linearly. You’re thinking that time has to move consistently and statically every time between worlds. It doesn’t. If God want’s it to last a day month or year in one world, and only a day in the next, it can. And it can change those rules for those same worlds depending on the situation.

Time normally seems to be in sync, but he went back using temp access. Just like if he spent some days in a horror world for some R&R. So temp world travel rules took priority. Time moves forward on Earth regularly, but he goes back to God’s world and only one day passes.

        1. So if someone go to real world after MC they get in 30 days later in real world and they can’t get in one time if they don’t go together.
So if they go to real world one after another for example for 1 year each then it whould be couple of years in real world but in God’s place it would be couple of days… it’s can be abused.

  4. I absolutely love Xuan’s Character, truly a genius. If you pay attention there is a justification for everything he did this chapter and if you remove emotions, camaraderie and basic human needs… this seems completely fine. But, of course, it is not. Nonetheless, I love sociopaths.

I am however starting to dislike the main character as he is being driven by his emotions and the only reason he has not died yet is because he is literally deus ex machina incarnate. Of course it is easier to relate to an emotional main character who is literally being pit into despair and having his past oneitis/love-of-his-life almost being killed by some devious mastermind. But in all honesty, this is literally a cliche and I’ve grown tired of it. Xuan piqued my interest however, especially his dialogue… some of it is complete bullshit but there are seemingly several hints of truth in what he says that really makes you think.

Well to sum things up, there are a lot of characters like Zheng, but characters like Xuan with details such as this? They are quite rare and I honestly find him more interesting which is why I’m reading to begin with. If you remove all morals, what is bad and what is good, and how the characters makes you feel. Xuan is truly the best character in my opinion, he has flaws as has been obviously stated before… and he isn’t always right. But there is always a twist to his actions, there is always more to his actions than what first meets the eye. Making him a much more interesting character, because you cannot predict each and everyone of his actions–though you may obviously pinpoint what general direction his actions tend to go from here.

I predict that he will shortly succumb to a death by the MC in the next movie, or shortly become the main villain. He is quite literally the perfect candidate for being the main villain/antagonist of this story. However, I would absolutely love it if they managed to turn Xuan into a more morally good character and more like-able, because at this point he is obviously going to be executed or turned into a villain who we will only see do “evil” things.

    1. You neglected to remember that if Xuan was wrong by one bit, Zhang would’ve been erased from reality. He’s a loose cannon, it only worked out so well practically because this is a story.

      1. Ya but Zheng has even more bullshit luck. Everthing he has done so far has only worked out so well because he is the main character and has the ever present plot armor which I find especially annoying and plain to see in this novel.
Xuan atleast put plans together instead of waiting for his next lucky break like Zheng seemingly does.

    2. I really like Xuans character too, and I really don’t get all of the hate that people are giving him. If the MC acted like this everybody would be defending his actions, it is just the mindset that the MC is always right.

Xuans is the only proactive survivor amongst everyone we have seen so far, Zheng is frankly just lucky and this total breaking limits everytime danger comes thing is really starting to pissed me off, it is a cheap way to have the MC win all his fights. Xuan on the other hand has shown far more practical value than Zheng and it was only his first movie with no enhancements.
Xuan is the person I would want to have on my team, not Zheng. Xuan would be way more useful in any movie that required any amount of thought, hell none of them would have survived without Xuan this movie, that goes doubly for Zheng. Plus the disadvantage that Xuan has becomes easily covered with some enhancements making him far more valuable.
Zheng is content being a lab rat and playing this game passively,
Xuan is already tryin to figure out the rules of this world and use them to his advantage.
Idealists die early and realists live long.
Xuan is the realist. Too bad Zheng is the MC. plot armor trumps all.

Xuan is going to die for sure but he really shouldn’t. I’d rather see an intelligent strategy to beat the movie and have thought out direction instead of see Zheng fight someone way beyond his abilities while hoping he breaks through his genetic constraints to win a battle he still should not be able to win.

Comparing this to infinity armament I’d have to say infinity armament is better so far.
