Chapter 298 – Master and Disciple

Nie Li returned to his courtyard and continued refining God Level growth rate demon spirits like mad.

After absorbing the leftover energy from the demon spirits, the Nightmare Demon Pot’s success rate seemed to have slightly increased. From the sixty thousand demon spirits, Nie Li produced almost a hundred God Level demon spirits.

Nie Li arrived in Gu Bei’s courtyard alone and handed the God Level demon spirits to him. Gu Bei was going to help Nie Li sell them to his cousins before he went out to acquire Dragon Bloodline demon spirits for him.

Nie Li exited Gu Bei’s courtyard, activated the void-form several times to dodge prying eyes, and moved according to his memories.

He followed a crooked path that stretched into the distance, walked past a patch of dense forest, and reached a quiet valley.

Peach blossoms bloomed richly, making the scene appear like a utopia.

It was exactly the same as the scene from his memories.

It was a quiet valley with a small stream that trickled through. Scenes belonging to his previous life appeared in his mind.

“Master, you told me to reach the ‘virtuous like water, for water does not compete’ state. But how do I accomplish this? I was born in a place called Glory City and all of my families, friends, and even my lover were killed. Should I go up to my enemies and tell them to be virtuous like water? I only believe in ‘an eye for an eye’. Given the slightest chance, I would kill every last one of them!”

His Master had only looked at him and smiled, “Stubborn disciple that couldn’t be enlightened.”

“It’s not that I couldn’t be enlightened. Everyone in the Divine Feathers Sect looks at you with disdain. If I was strong enough, I’d make all of them kneel before you as vengeance. What’s wrong with that?”

His Master stared into the endless sky. “In this world, bitter struggles are constant. In an instant, everything will become history. However, water can flow endlessly, nurturing all living things.”

Even now, Nie Li still couldn’t understand his Master’s words. Even in this life, he’d only been following one rule: vengeance for vengeance, an eye for an eye. Even after the danger to Glory City had been dealt with, there was still more vengeance that he’d yet to seek. The Demon Lord and the Sage Emperor still weren’t dead.

As long as his enemies weren’t eliminated, Nie Li would never be able to find peace. Not for even a moment, not even in his sleep.

Was he supposed to correct the Demon Lord and Sage Emperor with a heart of mercy? What an absurd thought.

However, his Master had been genuinely kind to him.

Nie Li continued to walk as he recalled everything from his previous life. His eyes couldn’t help filling up with tears. His Master was a gentle person, someone who Nie Li had respected the most. But as they say, ‘nice guys finish last’; his Master hadn’t lived for very long. Back then, when his Master died, the only thing Nie Li wanted to do was kill everyone in the Divine Feathers Sect.

But, he didn’t go against his Master’s wishes. He didn’t massacre the Divine Feathers Sect; instead, he only caused a huge ruckus and beat all the experts of the Divine Feathers Sect to the ground.

Even so, his Master would never come back to life.

But now, he was back in this new life. Everything in front of him was so familiar.

He quickened his steps towards the straw hut and knocked on the door.

A familiar and pleasant voice sounded, “Come in.”

Nie Li strode in as he saw his Master sitting on the ground. Her expression was so calm, without the slightest ripple. She gave off an ethereal feeling, as if she didn’t really exist. Nie Li looked at his Master and felt an illusory and unreal sensation, as if she would disappear the next second.

Ying Yueru opened her eyes and a faint smile crossed her face. She said, “So it’s you? Have a seat.”

Nie Li vaguely sensed that this Ying Yueru before him was the exact same one from his previous life. His heart was filled with confusion as he sat before her.

The two of them exchanged looks as Nie Li tried to figure out where to start. He quietly remained seated as he looked at his Master. He was satisfied with just this.

Ying Yueru’s clear eyes looked at Nie Li and she lightly smiled. “Now, I will tell you some things. Do not ask me why or how. There are some things that you simply shouldn’t know. Even if you asked, I wouldn’t tell you. If you need to know, then I’ll tell you, even if you don’t ask!”

Nie Li smiled at Ying Yueru’s words. “Then what does Big Sister Ying want to tell me?” Nie Li remembered the past again. Back then, there were several occasions when he’d called his Master ‘Big Sister’. He’d ended up with a huge lump on his head each time.

Ying Yueru smiled and smacked him on the head. “Unfilial disciple! How dare you call me ‘Big Sister Ying’. You’re not showing the proper respect towards your Master.” However, she couldn’t help the smile on her face.

Nie Li was stunned for a moment and stared at Ying Yueru in shock. The words ‘unfilial disciple’ sent his memory drifting back into his previous life. Nie Li felt a strong urge to cry from the familiarity and closeness.

In his previous life, he’d experienced so much sadness. In the end, he was left all alone. The heart that had been tormented had now been slightly healed under his Master’s gaze.

Ying Yueru smiled. “You find it strange that I know these things. It is the result of the [Heaven’s Divination] technique that allows me to see through all illusions and calculate destiny. However, in calculating all this, I’ve exhausted fifty years of my lifespan.”

Nie Li’s heart was pained as he looked at Ying Yueru. “Why would you spend fifty years just to calculate this? You could’ve just asked me and I would’ve told you everything!”

Ying Yueru revealed a beautiful smile. “It wouldn’t have been as clear unless I calculated it for myself. You’re inside the situation. Through my calculations, I am viewing it as a third party.” Her voice was ethereal and peaceful as she continued, “There’s no need to say anything else. According to my calculations, you’re going to compete for the Sect Master’s position of the Divine Feathers Sect.”

His master was indeed like an immortal god, to have seen through the ambitions within his heart. Ever since he’d reached the Divine Feathers Sect, Nie Li had been aiming for the Sect Master’s position. That was the only way to ensure that no one would ever harm his Master again.

Aside from obtaining cultivating resources, Nie Li had other motives for displaying his shocking talent. He didn’t have time to wait. He needed to start planning now.

As far as others were concerned, becoming the Sect Master of the Divine Feathers Sect was already a lifetime’s greatest accomplishment. However, to Nie Li, it was only the first step to his plan.

Ying Yueru smiled towards Nie Li. “If you want to become the Sect Master, I have a recommendation for you. She can become your greatest aide.” In truth, Ying Yueru’s heart had also been changed. Ever since she’d performed that calculation, she suddenly found herself with a disciple who was deeply connected to her own previous life. However, she still belonged to this life, and couldn’t get used to the idea of having a disciple. She found the experience extremely profound.

Ying Yueru looked at him deeply. “My Junior Sister, Long Yuyin.”

Nie Li immediately refused. “Anyone but her. Every time I see her, murderous intent leaks from my heart.”

“There is a reason why she and the Dragonseal Family forced my death in the previous life. In her eyes, I am the one who killed her Master. And it is the truth; I was the one who killed our Master.” Ying Yueru gazed into the distance as she sighed. “The cause and effect of this world are profound, I cannot explain it to you in such a short time. You hate her, she hates me, and this hatred became a tight knot. Only you can help her resolve the hatred she holds for me.”

At Ying Yueru’s words, Nie Li recalled various things from the past and finally began to understand why Long Yuyin wanted his Master’s death. However, telling him to put down his hatred on such short short notice was still impossible for him. After all, he’d personally witnessed Ying Yueru’s death and had personally seen how overbearing Long Yuyin was. With that kind of mentality, Nie Li’s heart filled with wrath every time he thought of her. Now that he knew, he wanted to put it down, but there were some things that he just couldn’t help.

“If you want her to put down her hatred for me, you’ll have to put down your hatred for her first.” Ying Yueru said as she looked at Nie Li, “This is the ‘virtuous as water’ that I spoke of. Even after experiencing two lives, you’re still not willing to put it down?”

Nie Li still wanted to say something. “But…”

Ying Yueru’s voice was as soothing as spring water as it calmed Nie Li’s heart. “I’m not expecting you to achieve the ‘virtuous as water’ state. However, Long Yuyin can no longer threaten me, so why not put down your hatred?”

“I…” Nie Li thought about it a little and finally nodded. “Alright.”

So it turned out that Long Yuyin and his Master were fellow disciples. Nie Li thought things over again. His Master was vastly knowledgeable and could calculate destinies; therefore, she must have a reason for asking him to do this. Both in his previous and current life, Nie Li had absolute faith in his Master’s words.

Ying Yueru wryly smiled. “The [Heaven’s Divination] technique exhausts a portion of my lifespan for every divination. If you want me to live longer, don’t ask so many questions.”

“Yes.” Nie Li’s mind went blank as he stared at her smile. In their previous life, Ying Yueru didn’t smile very much. But he remembered that the current Ying Yueru was still just a sixteen or seventeen year old girl. No matter how heaven-defying she was, she was still just a young girl.

Ying Yueru looked at Nie Li and said, “Once you leave here, you shouldn’t return for a while. You’ve attracted too much attention by coming here.” Since she performed her divination, she no longer knew how to act around Nie Li. After all, she was still just a sixteen or seventeen year old girl. It felt strange to suddenly have a disciple like Nie Li.

Nie Li vaguely suspected that his Master knew more than she was letting on; however, since she’d already said so much, he didn’t want to enquire further.

He felt at ease, now that he’d seen his Master living peacefully. In his heart, he understood that it would be for the best if he came here as less as possible. After all, he was caught in a whirlpool; it would be best not to disrupt his Master’s life.

A determined expression flashed through Nie Li’s eyes. “In that case, please wait until I become Sect Master of the Divine Feathers Sect!” Only by becoming the Sect Master, could he protect his Master.

Nie Li slightly curled his back, then stood up and left.

Ying Yueru watched Nie Li’s silhouette as her heart sighed softly. She probably won’t be able to wait until Nie Li became Sect Master. She watched him disappear through the entrance before she looked away.

  1. That [Heaven’s Divination] i realy bulls*it and cheap writing its basically a way for the author to put the plot where he wants without carrying for reason and logic.

    1. Heaven’s divination is not an OP cultviation since it costs years of your lives. Any OP power that has a setback isn’t necessarily bad writing. TDG heaven’s divination is not cheap in my opinion.

      1. But we clearly saw that immortality is a real thing, yet these people, who cultivate even higher than spiritual-gods, who are immortal….Have mortal life spans?
Don’t you think that’s a huge contradiction? How can they have such a setback to begin with, when it doesn’t really add up?

That being said, I personally did not yet see any reason to call BS on Heaven’s Divination. It did not cause the MC to act in any outrageous way, other than what we already saw. In fact, it perhaps created even less ripples than the insane, and over the top moves Nie Li has pulled up by now (like “accidently” finding the bloody sovereign of fire.)
I mean, is it more absurd to have someone who can read fates, than have an entire story be lead around by the concept of fate?
“Oh, this amazing and unlikely event happened….Because of fate! I see!”
And that’s not annoying to you? -_O

Anyway, I think, if anything, the biggest BS here — is that they actually have life spans. That seems coocoo to me, this is probably the only cultivation-story I read in which immortality is not a very plausible goal in the story.
I also think it’s coocoo that their entire military power is born out of using the souls of demons. Nobody ever thought of a way to use this “Heavenly Energy” to create combat-techniques? Really? Nobody tried to even imitate the techniques of animals in order to create their own, which is a very real thing btw in Chinese martial arts?
There’s so much to grief about, I honestly find it bewildering that you’d start with Heaven’s Divination.

        1. I don’t think the Life Span is measured by our measurements. I think it’s more the “countdown timer to death” that gets reduced by 50 years. She seems to refer to the end of someone’s lifespan (such as her previous world’s death) as her their lifespan, since she says it was destined to happen, one way or another. So I think every time she looks into the truth of reality, her time of death gets pushed slightly closer. Seeing lifespans that way would make sense if you had true knowledge of when someone is going to die. Any other measurement of lifespan is just a guess, but if you know the exact time of death and it gets moved 50 years closer, that is a true loss of lifespan.

Also, I don’t think they are immortal anyway. They might live several centuries maybe, but not forever. So a 50 year chunk would still be significant, even if regular cultivators lived for several centuries. For Instance, the old man from the Abyss World (Silver Winged family patriarch) was close to dying of old age, so it’s not impossible for them to die of age. Just because they left the Tiny World doesn’t mean everyone’s suddenly immortal. Beyond the Spiritual God’s, who are only immortal so long as someone doesn’t exceed their understanding of their law and steal it from them, then I can only imagine the God of Space-Time and the Supreme Emperor guy are the only true immortals.

  2. Contrary to seemingly everyone else I never liked Ying Yueru. Because of her Heaven Divination technique she acts like a know-it-all even though the current Nie Li definitely knows more than she does. The current her is only 17 while Nie Li has lived for centuries. Cheat-sheet calculations can’t suddenly make up for the wisdom obtained from actually living for hundreds of years. Knowledge can be more harmful if you don’t know how to use it. Nie Li’s fight with the Sage Emperor happened long after she died and in this life Nie Li has a much better cultivation technique and all his friends are still alive. Not to mention he now has the Thunder God’s Meteorite Sword and future secret weapon Jin Dan. I actually think Nie Li’s got this well in hand but sudden interference from Ying Yueru might set everything way off course. Does she really think Nie Li won’t notice if the Sage Emperor suddenly takes notice of her? What a fool!

This brings me back to the primary issue I have with Ying Yueru. She acts all enlightened but she actually hasn’t obtained true enlightenment. She is far too dependent on fate calculations which has actually narrowed her worldview rather than expand it, so she comes off as a bit defeatist. Her noncompetitive philosophy might be a good fit for her but compared to Nie Li it’s quite selfish. Nie Li lives for his friends, family, and Glory City. But Nie Li knows that to protect what’s closest to him from injustice he needs power. Power that does not come from rolling over and “accepting fate” like it’s all predetermined or some sh!t.

Life itself is inherently competitive. Even if you don’t want to compete it’s not like everyone else is guaranteed to leave you be. To truly remove yourself from all competition is the same as isolation. To someone who is hated by everyone like Ying Yueru, isolation may seem natural, but it is the point of view of someone who has no friends. By constantly glimpsing at the future everything seems to be pointless as nothing seems to last forever, but it can be argued that BECAUSE nothing lasts forever the time you have is valuable. Even water cannot truly flow endlessly like it doesn’t come from somewhere, or has Ying Yueru never seen a river dry up?

Nie Li definitely should not pursue the “virtuous like water” state and instead focus more on Kong Ming’s “Infinity” state, which I suspect is related to time and space and perhaps the Temporal Demon Spirit Book.

It may be a bit of a reach but I think the eight missing pages of the book are all the same page that exist at different points in time. Each page might represent the time that an owner died. Since it is a book it must have been created at some point. I think that there were eight other people who have owned the book before Nie Li, and that Emperor Kong Ming may have been one of them, which is why one of the pages appeared in his tomb. One of Nie Li’s family ancestors might have also owned the book and thus when he died his body disappeared and a page of the book appeared and was passed down until it made its way to Nie Li. If this pattern holds true, the Temporal Demon Spirit Book will only appear again after the point in time which Nie Li was supposed to be killed by the Sage Emperor and at that point whoever finds the book will see that it now has nine missing pages. This is just my theory anyway. The only thing I can think of with no beginning and no end is space-time. Perhaps understanding Kong Ming’s truth will allow Nie Li to transcend time and space and become God of the Universe like a certain other character from a certain other wuxia novel.

    1. I agree with you for the most part, however, Ying Yueru knows Nie Li will be hunted down when he reaches heavenly axis. Nie Li thinks it’s when he is martial ancestor, which is a huge calculation fail (wink wink), so Nie Li can only rely on her for now. Your theory is interesting and the remnant pages might have been in the hands of different experts, however, the pages being the same is false (raw confirmed).

      1. Yueru says the Sage Emperor will notice Nie Li when he reaches Heavenly Axis, but the Sage Emperor can also do these bullsh!t fate calculations and he’s undoubtedly more experienced at them than some 17 year old girl. If the Sage Emperor notices Yueru and divines her fate, isn’t he likely to discover Nie Li by association like how Yueru discovered the Sage Emperor by divining Nie Li’s fate? I would think someone as powerful as the Sage Emperor would be able to see that this little girl is trying to cover for someone and would be all the more interested in that person, so Nie Li might be discovered either way, but this time the Sage Emperor might realize that Nie Li’s on to him due to Yueru covering for him and it would ruin everything. Bitches have been known to ruin everything.

        1. Also, given how easily Ying Yueru dies wouldn’t the Sage Emperor find it suspicious how someone unremarkable like that suddenly appears in his calculation? And even if she blocks the Sage Emperor from directly calculating on Nie Li, didn’t the Sage Emperor say that he also does calculations on his own fate? It seems discovering Nie Li is already a foregone conclusion. Yueru’s delaying tactics seem dubious but I guess we’ll find out in another 500 chapters or so when Nie Li finally reaches heavenly fate realm.

    2. I don’t really agree with you bashing Ying Yueru. She’s someone who constantly lives according to her master’s teachings, venerating him/her to the point where she was willing to learn the master”s technique despite the fact that it would be nothing but a burden. It would both put her in danger of being used by others, as well as harm her every time she uses it. The “virtuous like water” state is something that was taught to her and a way to gain enlightenment to both strengthen yourself (hence Nie Li’s ridiculous absorption rate at the stairs before he activated his technique) and is a way of life that makes sense for the technique user.
That being said, (from here is mainly just my conjectures) I feel like Nie Li is probably misunderstanding the “virtuous like water, for water does not compete” state. I feel like the state isn’t to have no desires, but rather to be able to take life as it comes. The state should probably be a weaker version of the “infinity has no end” state in that regard. The VLW state should be that despite any twist or turn you should know that water always has a way to trickle through, whether it be a pebble or a mountain blocking the way. Essentially, rather than focusing on what other people are doing, the VLW state should be about the self and reaching the pinnacle in that.

      1. “To be able to take life as it comes” is literally the exact opposite of Ying Yueru, someone who cannot stop herself from glimpsing ahead at fate. But to what end? What purpose could the Heaven Divination technique possibly serve other than to assuage the insecurities of someone too afraid to carve out their own destiny? Ying Yueru’s hypocrisy is what I take issue with most. Her technique and her philosophy seem to be at odds with each other. Yueru was so naive she actually thought Nie Li would just “forget” about her so long as she didn’t tell him her name in his previous life. She also doesn’t care that her death devastated him. The current Yueru also doesn’t seem to hold her life in much regard, and doesn’t care that it would devastate Nie Li doubly to see her die twice. I think someone who is far too quick to accept her own death as a given is completely useless in a genre about mortals fighting the heavens.

Nie Li is not concerned with what others are doing, he just wants to protect his own. I doubt Nie Li would care about reaching the pinnacle of self when everyone he cares about is dead. What would be the point? If the Sage Emperor had not attacked him in his previous life out of fear of Nie Li’s potential I highly doubt that Nie Li would go out of his way to battle and kill the Sage Emperor when all he wanted to do was revive his friends using their souls. This is a case where a fate calculation has resulted in an enmity where none had existed previously. The great irony of trying to calculate fate! To paraphrase a wise turtle, “one often meets his destiny on the path he takes to avoid it”. Had the Sage Emperor not kicked the hornet’s nest he would not be a dead man walking.

    3. the calculations let her watch the history as a third party. there are things that you can only know first hand but there are things that on can only see from the outside. each has its own wisdom

    4. your comment is longer than this chapter, and more interesting to read,, lol
i am sure Nie Li will reach “virtuous like an infinity water that has no end” state in the future,,
btw, i think Ying Yueru is not “accepting fate” like you said, but perhaps she calculate every path of destiny that possibly to reach, and she just choosing the best path.

    5. I personally, really — really don’t care about her. I just don’t care.
      She’s a glorified plot device? I don’t care. I ignore these things.

For all I care, I skip everything I don’t like, until these fantasy stories hit an arc which catches my fancy…For an instance, what’s up with Jindan? From where did Yu Yan come from, what’s her deal? What will happen between Nie Li and Long Yuyan? How will Nie Li’s future powers look like? How will Nie Li’s and his harem’s future look like?

The only thing I can grief over, is the fact that the author will waste copious amounts of chapters on something I probably won’t really care about.

    6. What do you mean the Sage Emperor would find it suspicious that she popped up…have you NOT read that he ONLY attacked our MC because he saw “via divination” that he’d be a threat….he probably didn’t even know who he was til then.

What do you mean she doesn’t amount to what our MC knows. First off…I thought it was pretty obvious she REMEMBERED everything from the previous universe/life…so her experience is no less than His. SHE just so happened to get hers from her ability. Plus she even knows what WILL happen… SHES PROBABLY GONNA BE A MAJOR FACTOR IN HIM BEATING THE SAGE EMPEROR! *unless he comprehends the “flow like water” thing and decides to ignore his existence when he’s super powerful* which I think this is how this author will probably take this story….it seems quite predictable tbh

And number three….I like her point of view. I always read in these stories how cultivators are supposed to be “above” mortals in mentality….when half of them are EVEN WORSE. SHE is like the prime example of what you’d expect an immortal to be…free, non-judgemental, and totally free of wordly-affairs. But nooo…you’re one of those hypercrites that appreciate when the bad guys win don’t you….Don’t you…ADMIT YOUR SINS!

Okay. I’m threw ranting/sounding like a crazy person

  3. “Forgive and forget” is such a stupid mindset. It makes no sense. “Oh, I know your just murdered my entire family and raped my wife in front of me, but we’re cool, bro. I forgive you.” Yeah, no. Absolutely not. Having a “forgive and forget” mindset is absolutely no different than saying it’s totally okay to do those kinds of things. It’s okay to wrong you. it’s okay to wrong others. It’s okay to perform heinous acts and crimes, because hey, I’ll turn the other cheek and forgive you. I’ll let go of my anger and not punish you like you so rightfully deserve because it’s totally okay that you’re a scumbag/murderer/criminal/deviant.

    1. You know, I would call this sentiment the reason the world is such a terrible place. The idea that forgiveness is the same as simply ignoring the problem. Rather, forgiveness is seeking greater understanding, and taking steps to break a cycle of violence. Because the idea that violence begets violence absolutely holds true, and we see it play out all the time both in our stories and in the real world. The polarization of ideologies as a result of a refusal to give any ground to opposition, as well as wars borne of generations of animosity. The first step of forgiveness is asking the question of why. Humans are not purely rational beings, but we do not act without reason. Sometimes the problem can be rooted in a societal or cultural system which either encourages or leaves no alternative to such actions. Sometimes the problem is a result of a mental abnormality. These are all cases where punishment at best only treats the symptoms of the problem, and does nothing to prevent the problem, or even really say it isn’t okay to do such things.

And yet people act like punishment fixes a problem, when it is at best no different than simply ignoring the problem in the first place, and at worst, only makes the problem worse. When you deliver a punishment, you aren’t saying “What you did was wrong”, but rather “I don’t like what you did”, and unless they hold your opinion in high regard, I doubt that will be enough to stop them. It may instill fear, forcing them to utilize less obvious methods in the future. At the more extreme end, you can kill them and be done with it, but humans are social creatures, and we rarely live in absolute isolation. Someone will inherit that animosity. Punishment is little more than a method for those in power to silence opposition which has been ingrained in us as the correct method to take. We still cling to it because the alternative is difficult and often unclear.

      1. Forgiving a murder will not make that person stop murdering. It won’t change the fact that he committed murder, and robbed the victims of any future and dreams they had, as well as those around them connected to the victim. It also won’t ease the pain you feel in your heart.

Again, forgiving them is no different than telling them that what they did was okay. That they’re free to do it again and again, because you won’t get upset and they’ll suffer no repercussions. Your mindset is the one I personally don’t understand. Your mindset allows criminals to go free, and to continue committing crimes and atrocities. Your mindset basically means that criminals should not be punished, should not be jailed, should not be stopped, all in the name of “forgiveness”.

        1. wrong. It’s because people refuse act like forgiveness is a bad thing that places like the middle east is such a mess. Everyone hates eachother and no one will just let the past go.

Listen forgiveness doesn’t mean being a pushover. It doesn’t always mean letting murderers walk away. It means not holding onto hatred.

Revenge doesn’t really solve anything in the end. Even if it satisfies you in the short term it only causes more problems later. But that doesn’t mean they should escape punishment.

If a murder kills someone they deserve punishment. But the forgiveness comes in giving the punishment needed to prevent more killing now the punishment you think they “deserve” for their crime. Because that is doing simply what needs to be done not what your hatred makes you want to do.

And here we can see Nie Li’s master is clearly telling him to forgive long yuyin not to be a pushover but because the past is the past and this is a different time and she’s already becoming a different person. Not only does continuing to hate her not solve anything but she’s actually needed for his ambitions.

The point of her water philosophy is that living a life of revenge and hatred will never end the fighting. You’ll just make them or those connected to them hate you and get revenge. There is meaning to the phrase “and eye for and eye makes the whole world blind”.

Of course saying this is earlier said than done and letting go of revenge and and simply doing what strictly needs to be done is beyond most people. It’s probably beyond me as well. But ideally it’s what people should do. To show forgiveness and kindness will prevent a lot more death than getting revenge.

  4. It all points out to the fact that Ying Yueru is going to die, right? I don’t think she’s hypocrite nor weak – it seems that she’s going to use the knowledge she gained, using her technique to see the future, to help Nie Li defeat the Sage Emperor this time – I’m just angry because she seems to plan to sacrifice herself somehow (already gave 50 years of her life 🙁 )
Also, it makes no sense to be able to change the future easily – she already said that that only few can do, which makes sense to me. I’m just angry and sad that people like Ying Yueru are always the ones who die in the end.

After giving 50 years of your life, it’s only fair to get a chance to change something.

    1. She changed the target of the Sage emperor… now instead of him noticing Nie Li’s stellar growth she’s apparently going to act as a human shield….

      1. Hmmm, if Nie Li really has another 100/200 years to prepare, then there shouldn’t be any need for that, unless something is going to change and Sage Emperor is going to use Divination calculation earlier?

Is that how it works (every 100+ years he does that) or does Sage Emperor notices everyone who becomes strong?

        1. From what I got, he does the Divination Calculation thingy whenever he feels something is ”off”, which is exactly what Nie Li’s cultivation makes him feel. Ying Yueru said that when Nie Li reaches the Heavenly Axis Realm, the Sage Emperor will start to notice Nie Li, which will most likely cause history to repeat itself, but much much earlier.

  5. When Ying Yueru smacked Nie Li because he called her ‘Big Sister Ying’, I suddenly remembered Ye Zong spanking Nie Li for calling him ‘Father-in-law’.
I can’t stop my tears from flowing right now. ?

  6. Just a theory…
Remember kong ming’s words? Infinity has no end, something like that. And since infinity is an imaginary concept even for the supposed “immortals”, it probably means that everything has an end or will die.

Now remeber nie li’s master’s words?
A water can flow endlessly, somethig like that.
I suspect that if he understands his master’s shit, nie li will further understands kong ming’s shit. It also probably means that it will be nie li’s own take on it since his master’s shit comes from the heaven divination tech which is known only to non-tiny world people. So unless there is a tiny world expert who knows of/a disciple of heaven divination tech, this will be nie li’s one profound shit of kong ming’s words.
