Chapter 14. Dungeon’s Necromancer

“Time to go, my minions.”

Pah-pahk, pahk!

Four Goblin corpses tore open as Woojin summoned his Skeleton Soldiers.

“Ggeegeek.”

“Keekeekee.”

The Goblins’ surprised shrieks harmonized nicely with the playful rattle of the Skeleton Soldiers. Woojin strolled forward, throwing away his light club and taking out his clawed hammer from his Inventory.

For now, the hammer had enough weight to finish the job. He’d had no choice but to keep it in Inventory until he found a proper weapon.

“Well, let’s do this.”

Woojin broke into a run, and his Skeleton Soldiers kept pace. They crashed into the Goblins, opening a path for their general. The Hobgoblin finally took notice of Woojin and hurriedly snarled a command at the Goblins. The Goblins who managed to slip past the Skeleton Soldiers had their heads pulped by Woojin’s hammer.

“Keekeekeee.”

As Goblins fell, Skeleton Soldiers rose to replace them. Woojin had used a decent amount of Skill Points on his skill, so the Skeleton Soldiers could exhibit physical strength comparable to a low ranked Awakened.

Moreover, they weren’t easily killed. In a flash, he had fourteen skeletons active, which was the limit of his control. Woojin held up the claw hammer, which was soaked in Goblin’s blood, in front of the shocked Hobgoblin.

But the Hobgoblin hadn’t run out of tricks yet, and its cane started to crackle as electricity began to coalesce around the tip. From what Woojin could tell, the cooldown time had expired.

Undeterred, Woojin slammed the sharp end of the claw hammer down on the Hobgoblin’s head.

Kwa-jahk. Pshhhh.

As it pierced through the Hobgoblin’s skull, the electricity coalescing around the tip of the cane dissipated into a few sparks.

“Whew. This is great for gathering points. Like I thought, the best way is to hunt a group of monsters.”

Each Goblin gave him two Achievement Points, but the Hobgoblin had given him an astounding five points. Not to mention, this was just a two star dungeon, so he could only imagine how many points he’d get from monsters in a higher ranked dungeon.

His mind drifted back to the Magic Scrolls he’d seen in his Achievement Shop. It seemed only a matter of time before he’d once again reach the heights he’d walked on Alphen.

The experience was also plentiful, allowing him to level up again.

“Hmm, like I thought, party play really doesn’t suit my style.”

With his Skeleton Soldiers tanking attacks in front, he just needed an attack that could deal damage from the back line. He only needed a couple more levels to learn the appropriate Skills.

His passive participation in his party’s efforts meant that he’d only rarely attacked monsters, which had slowed down his experience gain and reduced the amount of Achievement Points he’d earned.

Woojin activated [Search], he wasn’t about to go through the hassle of searching all the Goblin corpses for Bloodstones.

[Search] illuminated any items that possessed Magic. Woojin saw a light flickering beneath the fallen Hobgoblin, so he knelt down beside it to reach inside its clothes.

“Uh? It’s a Magic Scroll.”

Woojin looked at the Magic Scroll, but he had no way of knowing what kind of magic it was.

“I have to learn [Identification] at some point anyway. I’ll just use this as an opportunity to buy it.”

Woojin pulled up his Achievement Shop and used twenty Achievement Points to purchase and learn [Identification]. He could use the disposable one star Identification Scroll, but he decided that the magic was far more cost efficient in the long run.

<Identification>

The hidden information of the item will be known to you.

The failure rate decreases as your Intelligence increases.

Magic Consumption : 1

Woojin cast [Identification] on the Magic Scroll.

<Electric Shock>

An electric attack can be sent towards a target.

Magic Consumption : 1 Latency Time : 20

“Ho oh. This is what the bastard was using.”

Woojin searched through his Achievement Shop and found the Electric Shock scroll priced at a hundred Achievement Points.

With just thirty points, he could buy low ranked fire or water elemental magic. But the electric attack was more useful as an attack magic, so he understood why it was three times more expensive.

“It’s still a middling price.”

He only had to defeat fifty Goblins to earn enough points. When he thought of how quickly he could dispatch Goblins, it didn’t feel that expensive either. However, it wasn’t cheap if he was one day forced to buy it.

It wasn’t something he needed anyway, so he put the Magic Scroll away. He started to extract Bloodstones from all the Goblins that had shone under [Search].

“Ooh... ooh...”

“Huh?”

Woojin, who was happily excavating Bloodstones, glanced around quickly when he heard the moan. His face had turned serious, but no monster appeared. Woojin carefully scanned the hallway and met Sunggoo’s pain filled eyes.

It seemed he had regained consciousness. His face was screwed up in pain, his eyelids fluttering in agony.

Woojin walked over to him and squatted next to him. The effects of Electric Shock hadn’t worn off yet; he was still paralyzed.

Yet, Sunggoo forced words out with his stiff tongue, “H-help m….”

Woojin cut him off, “How much did you see?”

Sunggoo looked up with a pleading expression, but Woojin’s expression was indifferent. He had seen death many times. He’d witnessed numerous comrades fall, and even more enemies. But most of all, he had seen countless innocent souls whose lives had been stolen away.

“Ah, I don’t care.”

He was no longer on Alphen. He didn’t really need to kill Sunggoo. He wasn’t a spy from a hostile country either, so silencing him wasn’t a necessity.

“P-please save me.” Sunggoo’s words had become clearer as he regained control of his tongue. As a magic user, Sunggoo was somewhat innately resistant to magic.

If he had not been an Awakened, the lightning bolt would’ve killed him instantly. However, if he was left here, then he would die to the monsters inside the dungeon.

“What will you do for me if I save you?”

“I’ll keep my mouth shut.”

“About what?”

“The fact that big brother is a D Rank Awakened.”

Woojin smirked at Sunggoo’s words. It seemed one had to be a D Rank Awakened to easily defeat a Hobgoblin and a couple dozen Goblins.

Still, he didn’t really care if his story was spread. Woojin wasn’t interested in such things.

“How much are you willing to give me?”

“What?”

Sunggoo felt tongue-tied for a moment. The non-sequitur had completely thrown him off, and he had no idea how to answer. But Woojin took his silence in another way.

“If I leave you here, then you’ll probably become like him?” Woojin pointed towards the bloody corpse of Jongchul. He had been beaten to death by the Goblin, so his corpse was a gruesome sight to behold.

“I-I’ll give it to you.”

If he could live, then what was money? He’d take out his entire savings if he had a chance to live. He could always earn more money. Not to mention, if he rose high enough in the ranks of Awakened, money would forever cease to be a problem.

“How…how much do you want?”

Woojin raised two fingers. Sunggoo was surprised, but then gritted his teeth.

If it’s two million, then it’s well worth my life.

He’d be spending every penny he’d saved, but it didn’t matter. He had just started his life as an Awakened, there was plenty of time to make money in the future.

“I understand.”

Woojin smiled in satisfaction at Sunggoo’s reply.

If it’s twenty thousand, then I’ll have enough to cover the entrance fee to attack a dungeon alone.

This was only his third day back on Earth.

Awakened Kang Woojin was still naive.
