Book 21, The Bloodlotus Blooms, Chapter 37 – The Bloodlotus Blooms

Some True Gods and True Immortals were much weaker than Ji Ning. They only had the power of an ordinary Daofather, and so Ji Ning was able to easily defeat them. He didn’t even gain many insights from battling them, only spending a few hours in meditation afterwards.

After battling the more powerful ones or the ones who had some special abilities, Ning might spend seven or eight days carefully reflecting on their battle.

Twelve months after Ning began his sweep through the prisonworld. He was within a region filled with dark fog where a True Immortal was kept prisoner. Boom! Boom! Boom! The sounds of a major battle could be heard booming out from within the fog, causing the fog itself to roil and roll about.

Within the fog.

“Go!” The seemingly berserk violet-eyed woman pointed towards Ning, causing a sky filled with black light to shoot towards Ning

Ning held his twin swords in his hands, slowly stepping through the air and advancing.

He was in no rush to attack his opponent. He just slowly advanced through the air, giving his opponent plenty of time to attack him.

Although collecting enough treasures to repair Violetjewel was important, his own personal skill and power was his true foundation of strength. He had to treat every battle against these True Gods and True Immortals seriously.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Ning’s sword-light fluctuated in an unpredictable manner. He even used his attacking stance, ‘Shadowless’, to defend against all the enemy’s attacks. From this, one could tell how transcendent his sword-arts had become and how vastly superior he was compared to his foe.

“Is that your ultimate attack?” Ning continued to stroll forward as he spoke.

The violet-eyed woman’s face was ashen. She growled out, “Come back.”

Whoosh. Instantly, the countless streaks of black light flew back to her and entered her body. Only then did her face recover a bit of color.

“You are far more powerful than me. If you want me to submit, I’ll submit.” The violet-eyed woman came to this decision in a straightforward manner.

“A hundred and ninety-two.” Ning nodded and murmured softly to himself.

The violet-eyed woman was stunned. What did the Overseer mean by mumbling that number?

“Alright.” Ning pondered for a moment. “I’ve swept through a hundred and ninety-two of the True Gods and True Immortals of the prisonworld. That’s more than half of them. That should be enough treasures to repair the surface layer of Violetjewel.”

All the treasures he had acquired from the Celestial Immortals and Empyrean Gods here, combined with a few treasures from True Gods and True Immortals, had only been able to repair a fifth of the surface damage to Violetjewel.

This time, he had collected far more treasures. It was most likely enough.

“Time to give it a try.” Ning immediately made the decision to temporarily stop his campaign and instead go give repairing Violetjewel a try.

But of course, before he went to repair Violetjewel, he still had to finish what he came here to do.

Ning reached out with his hand, letting it rest upon the head of the violet-eyed woman. Ning was going to search through the memories of every single True God and True Immortal. Perhaps he might some information which might be of some help to him.

Next to a beautiful lake.

The white-robed youth, Ji Ning, landed on the ground next to it. With a wave of his hand, he caused the jade shrine to appear on the grassy banks of the lake. The enormous stone sword-steles landed next, followed by the 3600 enormous Goldstar Beads of the Heavens that surrounded everything.

Ning then stepped into the jade shrine, seated himself on the prayer mat, then began his meditations.

After each battle, he would carefully reflect on every single thing he had seen.

Although he had decided to go repair Violetjewel after this battle, he still chose to first calmly meditate on the battle he had just experienced.

Time slowly flowed on…

Ning just sat there quietly in the lotus position. A full day later, he opened his eyes, rose to his feet, then walked outside the shrine.

He was in quite a good mood right now. In the past year or so, his sword-arts had continued to slowly improve a bit, and he had now acquired enough treasures to be able to repair Violetjewel. With Violetjewel in hand, he would probably be at the overlord level of power. Even though he might a bit lacking compared to those elder figures who had long ago reached this level of power, the difference wouldn’t be as great as it had been in the past.

“The Nine chaos Seals.” Ning’s gaze fell upon the nearby goldstar beads, each roughly ten meters tall right now. The goldstar beads were covered with the complicated flowing runes of the Nine Chaos Seals, which continued to change and transform with every moment in a pattern which was never repeated.

Ning had a smile on his face, and he continued to look at the beads in quite a fine mood.

“Eh?” Suddenly…

Ning felt a tremor in his heart. He stared closely at the constantly changing runes.

He stared unblinkingly at the runes for a full hour…and then he sat down on the grass and immediately shut his eyes.

After sitting there meditating on the grass for nearly a day, Ning opened his eyes.

“Arise.” Ning willed it.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! The 3600 goldstar beads all rose into the air in a massive, dazzling, dense array. They hung high in the air like the stars in the sky. Ning’s powerful Immortal energy quickly filled every single goldstar bead. Then, he imposed his will upon them, causing them to rapidly transform. The aura of every single goldstar bead began to grow in power. In fact, every single goldstar bead seemed to grow to become more powerful than top-grade Protocosmic spirit-treasures before the strengthening process ceased.

“I’ve finally completely mastered the third chaos seal,” Ning murmured softly to himself.

His subconscious had suddenly connected to a place that was infinitely distant from Ning. It was beyond space, beyond time, beyond distance itself. In the past, Ning had never sensed this place before. Now that he had mastered the third chaos seal, his powerful heartforce, assisted by the chaos seals, was allowing him to vaguely sense it.

This was a place that was filled with an aura of boundless murder and death. It was infinitely far away from him, but just sensing the place caused Ning’s heart to shudder…and at the same time, the aura seemed to stir that killing intent that Ning had buried deep in his own heart, the killing aura that stemmed from his hatred of the Seamless Gate and his desire to kill the Godking.

Ning’s eyes turned completely red upon being struck by this surge of killing intent. His veins began to protrude out from his body, which was trembling. Even with Ning’s skill in heartforce, it took a long time for him to calm down.

What he didn’t know was that different people would experience different things upon mastering the third chaos seal. For example, when Ning had been roaming the mortal world, he had mastered the second chaos seal and gained insight into the workings of fate, causing him to become much more attumed to it. Now, his heart had become filled with a desire to kill, and his heartforce was also extremely strong, which was why he became attuned to the essence of slaughter.

“Huff. Huff.” Ning panted as he slowly calmed down…but as he did, he became even calmer than before.

He stared at the 3600 goldstar beads hovering in the air. At present, the goldstar beads…had already transformed into many closed blood-colored lotus buds.

The thirty-six hundred blood-colored lotus buds hung there in the air, so beautiful as to inspire terror.

“Condense.” Ning willed it. Instantly, the 3600 lotuses began to merge together, soon transforming into a total of thirty-six enormous blood-colored lotus buds.

“Bloom,” Ning ordered.

The thirty-six beautiful blood-colored lotus buds slowly began to bloom. Previously, they were absolutely beautiful, but once they bloomed…a boundless aura of murder and slaughter instantly spread out ine very direction.

“The bloodlotus blooms only for the sake of slaughter.” Ning could sense how tremendously powerful the goldstar beads would be in the form of these bloodlotus flowers. The Goldstar Beads of the Heavens now had three ideal forms they could assume. The first was the ‘bead’ form which was the most ordinary and well-rounded. The second was the ‘mirror’ form which was well-suited for defense. The third was this ‘bloodlotus’ form which was perfectly suited for slaughter.

The way in which the bloodlotus slaughtered was different from that of ordinary weapons.

“These goldstar beads…although they were formed from valuable materials, the crystals that form from the energy left over after stars perish, it is the Nine Chaos Seals which gives them their true power and makes them truly valuable.” Ning understood this. The reason why he became more attuned to fate and could even sense that distant place of endless slaughter was because of these Nine Chaos Seals.

“Daoist Three Purities’ ‘Immortal Slaying Sword Formation’ was derived from the seventh chaos seal. No wonder it is known as the number one killing formation of the Three Realms.”

Ning stared at the bloodlotus flowers. His heart was filled with bellowing rage and murder, but he also felt strange, unnatural calm that he had never felt before.

“Hm?” As he was absorbed in the special mental state that came with controlling the bloodlotus flowers, Ning could suddenly sense something special happening within his divine body. His divine body was absolutely perfect and flawless, with every single cell in his body being completely without blemishes. However…right now, Ning could vaguely sense that every single part of his body was filled with desire. An extremely powerful desire.

It was…as though his body was starving.

This sensation was very vague, and Ning could just barely feel it. But suddenly, a thought entered Ning’s mind. He murmured softly, “It is said in the [Solitary World God] that one needs to find a spark of inspiration from your own body in the midst of solitude. If you find it, you’ll be able to step into the True God level.”

“It seems that my body was ready long ago. It has been starving…but in the past, I simply couldn’t sense it. I had no idea as to what I should do.”

“But now…I’ve found it.”

“I’ve found that spark.”

Ning revealed a smile as he softly said these words to himself.

  1. Yes, finally.

This makes me wonder what ki refining method he’s using – the flowing watersource thing that was kinda weaksauce? Or is he using anything at all? It’s been kinda dropped.

Now that he becomes a True God, it’s time for plot again. I wonder if it’s yet another Realmwar. Probably something different. How do you pass the time before the Endwar?

    1. Becoming a True God would mean he could go get that time distorting tower and have a major power up session before the Endwar. Though he will probably find a way to keep in contact with the outer world, so that he can join the war at notice.

    2. Actually Ning is using a dao father cultivating technique he got from subhati like 10 books ago. If he was still using the “weak sauce” technique he wouldn’t have been able to become a waxiang adept.

Also Ning is not allowed to participate in Realm wars anymore. That happened like 5 chapters ago

    3. For the elder god stage and the daofather stage you need to master a heavenly dao and his ki refiner method which he got from subhuti can let him train till the daofather stage.

    4. You pass it by training. For the moment I see the plot evolving like this :
      – He uses his new power up to have his rematch against the OP True God, and get the tower
      – He uses the said tower to train for decades or centuries, and reach the peak of Pure Yang level
      – During the End war, he hides his new power, and at the perfect moment let everyone see how OP he is.
      – A problem happen during the battle (betrayal, secret weapons from enemies, both or them or something new) make him (and the war) in danger.
      – He has a breakthrough and Become Daofather
      – Plays it like Nuwa in the old time

    5. ‘How do you pass the time before the Endwar?’

How about mastering a Heavenly Dao? As for which one, how about Primal Chaos, the hardest of the lot?
Admittedly, he probably has more afinnity with Water, but why not scare the Seamless Gate as much as possible?

        1. Nah. Mastering Primordial Chaos would just make him an Ancestral Immortal like everyone else who masters the Heavenly Dao of Primordial Chaos. (Ancestral Immortal is the actual rank btw & Daofather is just a title for anyone that knows a Heavenly Dao)

          1. I’m afraid you’re wrong on that one, Caladbolg was already correct so why did you try to correct him?

    6. The only thing I’m disappointed about with Ning becoming a True God now, is that he cannot become the second Empyrean God in the 3 realms to kill a Daofather on his own along with Houyi.

      1. Yeah but before this breakthrough, he could already killed daofather under overlord-class without too much problems, it’s just that the world doesn’t know, but anyway, they will know soon enough how strong he is

        1. Well, just because someone ‘could’ do something and didn’t, won’t put him into the annals of history. Yes, he was strong enough to do that, but didn’t do it so he won’t be remembered as ‘an Empyrean God who killed a Daofather’ 😉

  2. i love i eat tomatoes and desolate era , but i have to say this . I think the power levels are a mess , i can barely keep up with them

    Elder god = daofather
    true god = true immortal

then shouldn’t daofathers of the three realms be weaker then those born as elder gods , since the whole weak jindan thing ?

    1. It’s Because Ji Ning is too OP making things difficult, it goes like this:

People are either Ki Refiner or Body Refiner:
-Ki Refiner : Celestial Immortal (weaker are irrelevant at this point) -> Pure Yang Immortal -> Dao Father
-Body Refiner : Empyrean God -> True God -> Elder God
After this, there is experts who are at the World Level (like Pangu or Nuwa) but we don’t have much details about them yet

Also, there is some expert who are almost at the World level and so stronger than others Overlord level Daofather. Pretty much all the leaders of this war.

Also, in the prison realm, Ji Ning met outsider from another Chaos world who use more refined techniques to cultivate their Ki. So they have better Ki Refiner and divide people in 3 grades:
      – 3rd Tiers Jidan : Lowest Tiers, all the Ki Refiners in the 3 Realm have this.
-2nd Tiers Jidan : One Early Pure Yang Immortal have has much Energy than a 3rd Tiers Peak Pure Yang (half a step Daofather)
-1st Tiers Jidan : One Pure Yang have as much energy than a Daofather.

But, these informations only give the energy of someone (would only give his hp and mp for example). Strengh of people is also showed with their techniques. A 1st Tiers Jidan have the same stats than a Daofather, but less understanding of the Daos or energies, so he would still lose a fight (Except some freak). There is all kind of forces with 5 level (there is some after but we don’t know them yet) like the the Sword Force, Saber force . . .
Daos change in each Chaosworld (even if their is a lot of similarities), and the best Daos is the Daos of Chaos, which let you roam outside of the Chaosworlds.
So these differences in techniques create difference in power between cultivators of the same realm, so people differenciate the, with title, for exemple at the Daofather level :
      – Normal level (Ex : the Daofather who rule the realm where Ji Ning is bornt)
      – Top Tiers level (Ex: The master of his desceaded wife, forgot the name)
      – Overlord level (Ex: The God King)

      1. The God King is not said to be overlord level. I am guessing he is just a Top Tier level. The God king is obviously weaker then Daomother, Windfiend and Everwood so he is not at their level. My guess is he is only a top tier level. It was also said that people from Three Realms were good at daos and it shows that despite having lower tier ki level there are overlord level of Daofather. One interesting part is Suiren was stronger then the fire elder god even though he is only a true god and a tier 3 daofather. So people from three realms kind of caught up in the Power scale by being good at daos, at least for the overlord level.

    2. Alright imma help you out pal.

      Primal Daoist

      Now you reach the split.

Ki Refiner – Earth Immortal = Fiendgod Body Refiner – Void Immortal
Ki Refiner – Celestial Immortal = Fiendgod Body Refiner – Empyrean God
Ki Refiner – True Yang Pure Immortal = Fiendgod Body Refiner – True God
Ki Refiner – Ancestral Immortal = Fiendgod Body Refiner – Elder God
Ki Refiner – Chaos Immortal = Fiendgod Body Refiner – World God

On another note? Daofather is just a title for anyone that knows of a heavenly dao. It isn’t actually a rank to be fair, and you can have a true yang immortal that is a daofather. An Ancestral Immortal is the actual level beyond True Yang Immortal, and so they are the equivalent of an Elder God. Mind you the whole this = this thing is in regards to if their jindan were equal with one another.

      1. You can’t have a Pure Yang True Immortal who mastered a Heavenly Dao because that would automatically allow him to advance to the Daofather/Ancestral Immortal level -.-

        1. I’m 99% sure that “master one of each elemental Grand Dao” will turn out to be an additional requirement, and Ji Ning has Lightning, Waterdrop and the Sword for 3 of the 5 so now he’s just missing Fire and Earth.

Don’t forget that when he advanced to being a True Immortal, it mentioned that he needed (and had) at least one of each complete ordinary elemental dao path.

tl;dr – It should be possible to have a Pure Yang True Immortal with a complete Heavenly Dao path, but I’d think it’s extremely unlikely because they would have to be utterly terrible at one of the other elements in order for them to master a complete Heavenly Dao path but still be unable to master a Grand Dao of one of each of the 5 elements.

          1. Hm, true. I keep forgetting about these additional requirements since IET seemed to have just pulled them out of his ass at the breakthrough chapter without any foreshadowing. So, technically it could be possible, as you explained to me. 🙂

    3. then shouldn’t daofathers of the three realms be weaker then those born as elder gods , since the whole weak jindan thing ?”
Who said they are not? The people who aren’t born as Elder Gods are only managing to get to the “Elder God” level by training matching Heavenly Daos, like Life + Death / Yin + Yang / all 5 elements, in order to make up for the fact that they have 3rd tier jindans and don’t know about jindan qualities.

    4. The power realms are indeed a little confusing. I do remember that early on, there was a level skip for fiendgod body refiners at the Void level; once fiendgod reach void level they become STRONGER than void level(earth immortal) ki refiners, and they instead match in power with Celestial Immortals. So power level should be as follows:

      fiendgod = ki refiner:

      Void fiendgod = Celestial Immortals

Empyrean God = True Immortals (this is the upper limit allowed in war for karma, Ning was both
an Empyrean God and True Immortal in Deerchaser World karma war. There were no True Gods fighting in any karma war, which means True God > normal True Immortals.)

True God = Daofather (I *think* Daofather is the title for a True Immortal w/ at least 1 mastered Heavenly Dao required)

Elder God = Ancestral Immortal (I strongly believe that Ancestral Immortal is the next level of ki refiner after Daofather, not one and the same.)

      World God = Chaos Immortal

  3. Thanks for the chapp . was ning’s spark bloodlust liking intent and slaughter?
BTW it was kinda unexpected to see bloodlotus from goldstarbeads I didn’t thought that it will literally bloom.

  4. Am I the only one thinking that the threads of fate saying that Seamless gate and the other side must fight each other, might just be a powerful outsider manipulating fate to weaken the three realms before the outsider comes in and kill the survivors?

    1. What if it isn’t an outsider, but its actually Nuwa? Or the spirit of Pangu?

Or maybe the Seamless Gate’s leader that is part of the heavenly dao’s using those daos to push everyone into a fight to the end.

      1. 1+1 = 2
You’re welcome, if you need further education, I’ll have to take a small charge for use of my services.

I have had the thought for a long time (as it sounds like others probably have). I was just wondering if I had missed something that would make this unlikely.

          1. I don’t know about Falrond in this case Caladbolg. It does seem like kczz15 was rude for absolutely no reason. Saying they are both being childish might be a bit of a stretch. =P

          2. Ehh, I’m not nice guy. Besides, anytime I see somebody start a sentence with “Am I the only one”, I automatically want to punch them in the throat.

          3. Haha, it did tick me off too since it was us discussing the exact thing in the comments a few chaps ago, but I can’t be bothered to waste my time commenting on it xD

  5. Woah!
I was thinking that it would be a long time until Ji Ning broke through!
I thought that he would master the fifth stage of heartforce first xD
    Well oh well 🙂
Now he will be able to beat Shiju (or what gis name was) with or without violetjewel <3

  6. So now he became a true god, have the violetjewel sword repaired, and got this bloodlotus form ?? Ez slay elder god, nerf ning plz. Also he will take the heavengaze tower, which means OP*1000. I can already see the face of the godking green from regret. “Pff he can do shit in the endwar he will die on this battlef….. Oh shit”

  7. Thanks for the chapter!

Question: Ji Ning is the only one in that entire world who can recycle broken artifacts, right?
So why is he relentlessly wresting *functional* artifacts from their owners and melting them down, instead of *selling* them and buying every broken artifact in the Three Realms? (Starting with whatever happened with those old broken Envoys of All Things from the last War…)
Cultivators would DROOL over an offer like “one functional treasure for every five broken ones”, and pretty much everybody would be better off in the end.

    1. The true immortals and elder gods of Pangea are filthy with top level protocosmic treasures, and the occasional chaos treasure, which each contain what seems like less than 1/10000th of the required 5 elements essence. Must remember that top level protocosmic treasures themselves are already made with materials from the primordial chaos and those of Pangea, who conquered three chaos worlds over several chaos cycles had plenty of resources to create them. Those of the three realms have only been through like 1 and a half chaos cycles and live in a shattered chaos world so their collective resources are hardly sufficient to efficiently restore violetjewel. Not to mention the attention Ji Ning would garner from selling thousands of high grade protocosmic treasures when most people his level are supposed to have 1-2. Who would even have five broken high-grade protocosmic treasures to begin with? he’s already had to deal with 192 daofather level prisoners of an empire vastly richer than the three realms to get JUST enough to repair the bare minimum required to use violetjewel.

      1. Dunno about Daofather level, but it was mentioned with regards to Celestial Immortals and Empyrean Gods that Pangea has (had) excellent ability to manufacture Pure Yang treasures, but not protocosmic treasures – as those elite Celestial Immortals / Empyrean Gods barely had any of such on themsleves despite being quite high rank when they were free in the past.

  8. Wait…so he had the strength around low-Overlord level, and now he’s going to breakthrough to become a True God… Seamless Gate’s going to have a MAJOR headache soon. He has a physical body close to an Elder God, fifth stage Swordforce, fourth stage Heartforce and Infiniforce, ki around the daofather level, a treasure above the Chaos level, and the Brightmoon swort art which was already the best in the Three Realms before he upgraded it through these battles.
Oh, and he also has the Bloodlotus form, which seems incredibly powerful (although I highly doubt its as powerful to him as VioletJewel, it’s probably meant for killing many weaker enemies at once (eg. break a formation using Violetjewel and instantly kill them all using the Bloodlotus form).
    Thanks for the chapter!

  9. hmmm… if he was going to fix the sword to be able to reach the level of a true god, now that he became one…how powerfull will he be when he DOES repair the sword enough to used?

will he be able to free those prisoners who have submitted to him?

he might not be able to participate in the realmwars…but nothing says he cant let loose some anarchy on the seamless gate, especially to draw out you know who..

    1. I wish he trolled them by transforming through [8-9 Arcane Art] and taking part anyway, ofc with limited abilities haha. He could still kill so much enemies through that 😀

    1. Not sure why linley would upgrade his mediocre sword (it was only middle-level in a minor universe) and throw it into a major universe for dozens of chaos cycles.

  10. Yes. Finally he is becoming a True God. Since he has access to five elements he can upgrade the Starseizer hand. This would give him a strong divine ability as a true god. I hope he becomes strong enough to defeat Shiyu.

  11. Thanks for the chapter and enjoy your break, RWX.

This latest chapter and the preview text has left me in speculation mode. I wonder if any major conflict that Ning participates in will occur between now and the Endwar. And as another commenter pointed out, considering how suspicious the circumstances are behind this whole war, maybe we will see some plotline related to that arise. Hmm. I could speculate more on the flow of events, but it partially stems from the preview text (specifically the volume title).

  12. Woooooohooooooo! Thanks for the chapter Ren sama!
