      1. Steal to 3rd – Review at Chapter 86

As much as I enjoy reading and following this world, it’s quite clear that the author hasn’t been consistent with Theodore’s character. We quickly go from a nerd to a super fighting ability magician.

Though it could be explained because of the ability to connect with previous memories and many time skips, with every major arc, Theodore is becoming a clinched hero. With every pass chapter, I lose a sense of who Theodore is, what he fears, what he fights for, and why he does the things he does. I don’t why Theodore wants to get stronger except that he has this OP ability to absorb skills from books.

I’m starting feel like the author throws obstacles in his way solely to get Theodore more powerful. Not only Theodore, but many of the characters are just 2D. So far there’s not much character development for Theodore, much less for supporting characters.

Don’t get me wrong though, I’ve really enjoyed this series so far and I recommend any fans of Korean novels to read it. Just letting you know my critic of it so far. There’s only been 86 chapters since I reviewed and I’m sure the author has more in plan.

  2. I really do not understand why you chose this novel ,especially when it only has 80 chapters and you plan on releasing 11 a week. Is the writer releasing several chapters a week or is he very reliable to release chapters? The reason why I say this is with your current release schedule you will catch up with the writer very quickly unless new chapters are release quickly. I’d hate to see you end up dropping another novel because the writer doesn’t release good material on a regular bases like with ATD. I’m surprised you weren’t able to a different interesting novel that has a lot more chapters to put your effort in.

    1. The author releases 7 or more chapters a week. Situations like what happened with the ATD author is actually rare with Munpia. Anyway, I picked it because I liked it *shrugs*, what other reason should I have for picking a novel?

  3. I was planning on waiting until this had accrued seventy five to one hundred chapters before reading, but with the sudden termination of three novels I have been following, I find myself at a loss, so I have little choice but to begin reading before the desired amount of chapters.

  4. Time for the (nearing) chapter 50 review!
Howdy kids, lets look at this work, generously translated for us, today.
Overall BEM is not bad, but I also hesitate to call it truly great. It has a relatively interesting setting and plot, one that I feel has a great amount of potential, as it is based in a “knowledge is power” mentality that we have seen in greats such as WMW. But to this point in the story I feel like it has failed to develop on that potential.

For a novel focused on books I find it disappointing that the story isn’t overly intelligent. The appearance of the “Korean status window” trope working specifically to the detriment of this. We rarely have more then simplistic thoughts or conversation on magic theory, but rather a status window that pops up and identifies the book to be eaten, the benefits of eating it, a small summary of its contents, any secondary information, and a written assurance that the MC already has a sufficient comprehension of the information the book contains. This information is so handed off to the AI (which itself seems sort of out of place, coming from someone who doesn’t mind the trope) that the potentially most addictive part of the story is quickly pushed to the background. Instead we end up with continuous off-screen power-ups.

The human interactions within the story fair slightly better, but are themselves not without tropes. The most beautiful, powerful ice queen is obviously the love interest. The one professor that cares for the MC at the start, while providing the most emotional depth in the story so far, still rarely strays from the set role his introduction leads you to expect. The setting is very fantasy, with magicians being the most important characters in most scenarios. The MC is intelligent and cunning, but often does what MCs “would do” in any situation as opposed to having a strong identifying character, his personality traits often described rather than shown.

Again this novel DOES have positive features that I’m sure will earn it some fans. The growth rate and story progression are fast, and likely could give some readers that chapter to chapter rush. The characters can and have created emotional moments between them. However, I personally haven’t found what I am looking for here and likely wont be continuing.
Thank you again to the translator for sharing a work that they enjoy, and happy reading!

  5. Grass Porridge! Grass Porridge! Grass Porridge!

I’ve been feeling sad when you dropped LMS, coz you’re have been really familiar with LMS.
And i know you cannot brought LMS here coz you translate it from the middle of series, not from the start.
sigh, I’m quite sad right now..

  6. The story telling of Chinese and Korean writer is different, so you cannot expect an korean writer to write a novel base on your familiarity with chinese novels.
Korean novel is fast-paces, sometimes it was too fast! and sometimes it was absurd!
I don’t know how this novel was, but with this comment from me, I’ll start reading BEM now officially.
