Return to the South Coast

He named his first child Daniel. After setting up some isolation spells and asking Celine to hide herself for a period of time, he reckoned everything should be fine. With his business done, he headed for the south coast.

Though the surroundings were filled with dangerous areas that even rank 3 Magi were known to be unable to escape, this north coast that was isolated from the world seemed to Leylin like his backyard.

“It’s been so long, I wonder how those friends and enemies are now?” Leylin looked at the clouds through his window, and familiar faces appeared in his mind.

George, Nyssa, Damien, Number 4 and 5, and the former principal who were all his friends and servants. There were also his enemies like Gargamel and Alric as well.

Memories were dusted off one after the other, especially of him taking an airship to the south coast before he was even an acolyte. It all seemed as if it had happened yesterday.

“Time flew by in the blink of an eye…” Leylin raised his arm, glancing at his youthful and energetic palm as his mind drifted away once more.

“With fifth-grade aptitude, Jayden should be alive and well even now. As for George and Kaliweir… After all, one’s soul aptitude is the most important thing for a Magus.”

Leylin sighed. If not for choosing the path of a Warlock, he would likely still be stuck as a rank 1 or 2 Magus, even with the help of his A.I. Chip. Forget Morning Star, the current him had even reached the Radiant Moon realm, something unheard of in the south coast. His bloodline had a large part to play in these advances. Things were always unpredictable…

“Besides…” Leylin looked at the near Volcano City and let out a sinister smile.

Red light circulated around his hand, and through his bloodline he could feel the activity of other Farlier descendants in the nearby Teljose City.

‘Descendants of Viscount Farlier?’ Leylin laughed, ‘Didn’t I not have any siblings before I left? Viscount John Farlier is very much like our ancestors indeed…’

Leylin still held some attachment towards the Farlier family; after all, his current body came from them. Even though he’d sent Damian over to protect them along with Number 4 and 5, he still couldn’t thoroughly cut his ties to them. Still, because it was difficult for him to face them at that time, he’d done it anyway.

A few hundred years had passed since then, and all that would be left of his relatives and friends would be ash and bone. This would make things easier for him; all he needed to do was give a few benefits to his descendants and everything would be fine.

“Attention to all passengers. The airship is arriving at the terminal in Teljose City! Please gather your belongings and leave the ship in order,” The gentle female voice sounded again, “Furthermore, the next flight will begin half a year later. The airship will circle the eastern line. Please make any reservations if need be. One final announcement: Traces of the Primordial Spirit Slaying Sect have been detected in the eastern portion of the city. Please be careful.”

The first few announcements didn’t net much of a reaction from the passengers, after all the airships here were not comparable to those of the central continent and needed a period of maintenance after each flight. If not for the fact that Teljose City was the trade center of the south coast, they wouldn’t have set up any airship routes at all. The last announcement with regards to the Primordial Spirit Slaying Sect, though, it wreaked havoc in the hearts of the passengers when it was made known.

“What do we do now, Darlie? The Primordial Spirit Slaying Sect’s disciples are all madmen, won’t it be too dangerous for us in town?” A few female Magi near Leylin got anxious.

“Rest assured. Teljose City is one of the main camps of the light Magi, and Lord Alric is protecting us. Nothing will happen here. Forget that, aren’t the Death Soul Protection and Soul Pollution Isolation spells our forte?” The girl named Darlie quickly calmed her partners down. The presence of the light Magi and Alric gave them a lot of confidence, and even the rest of the airship’s passengers started to quieten down afterwards.

‘Primordial Spirit Slaying Sect? Alric?’ Leylin laughed, ‘It seems like I can settle that debt quite easily this time.’

He hadn’t taken this airship out of convenience. There was a slight sentimental value to it, but most important was that it would allow him to collect crucial information. With his current abilities, just his dreamforce forcefield could force many Magi to hand over a large amount of information that included their secrets. With the A.I. Chip’s abilities added on top, Leylin grew more or less clear on what had happened in the south coast after he’d left.

During his escape after the fight for the essence of the Wisdom Tree, the light Magi had suffered great losses. This incident had sparked off the third great Magus War!

With multiple rank 2 light Magi injured or killed, the dark Magi were stirred into action. With the additional encouragement from the incident with the Wisdom Tree, they started vying over the Eternal River pocket dimension and launched the war.

High-level members, all previously hidden from the world’s eyes, emerged in an unprecedented battle above the Thousand Soul Island. Spells of darkness and light blotted out almost half the sky, and the battle ended with the island sinking down. Both parties had suffered great losses.

The third Magus War was supposed to last for a long time, but it was halted abruptly due to the appearance of another strong party. Right after the battle at Thousand Soul Island ended, the ancient Primordial Spirit Slaying Sect took advantage of the fact that both sides were severely damaged and rose quickly in power and position. Their leader was rumoured to be the terminator of all souls— Gargamel! Members of the Primordial Spirit Slaying Sect were demon fanatics, and even wantonly collected souls in the south coast, regardless of whether they belonged to magicians or humans. They also didn’t care whether they were attacking light magicians or dark ones, all in their sights were attacked.

With so many souls in hand, Gargamel’s power recovered quickly. It had even advanced to the peak of rank 3 in a short period of time!

With all this, both sides decided that they could not let such a thing go on, quickly ending their original war and cooperating to suppress Gargamel’s rise along with her Primordial Spirit Slaying Sect.

Finally, in an intense ambush, the rank 3 Magi of all three sides suffered grievous injuries or even death, and the Magi used their many inherited treasures to inflict great damage to Gargamel and the sect.

But Gargamel was indeed an ancient demon; it had managed to escape from the dark and light Magi and recuperated in hiding, silently waiting for a chance to make a comeback.

Rumours in recent times said that Gargamel’s wounds were healing quickly, something that explained the increasing activity of the sect’s members. They were conducting massive blood sacrifices and collecting souls. The entire south coast was laden with anxiety.

‘So to say, the south coast is currently experiencing a three-way stalemate between the dark Magi, light Magi, and the Primordial Spirit Slaying Sect…’ Leylin yawned, even if he’d sealed the majority of his abilities, enemies of such a level were still ants to him.

‘Let’s end things here quickly and find the Purgatory World. My time is far too precious!’ Leylin stood up and came to the entrance queue, waiting to alight. Darlie and his partners were in front of him.

“Hey Darlie, look. The hunk who sat with us before is here too.” The female Magus in front tugged on Darlie’s sleeve.

“Yeah, let’s go strike up a conversation! I’ll count myself lucky today, none of you can fight me!”

“You guys…” Darlie’s voice was soft and she looked like she was done with them, “Aren’t you guys afraid of offending him by speaking so loudly when we’re so near? And didn’t you guys try the other time as well? that sir over there hates to be disturbed…”

The female Magus looked at Leylin stealthily again after Darlie finished her words. The elegant black robe exuded a sense of royalty and the black mask on his face gave Leylin a few pints of mysteriousness. Though only half his face was revealed, the charm he gave off unknowingly was driving all the female Magi mad.

    1. I’m actually really disappointed right now. Leylin was supposed to return to the south coast with full power and shame everyone by being several ranks higher than the top powerhouse of the south coast. Sadly, the author decided to make Leylin a cripple before allowing him to return. Now the effect has been severely lessened.

      1. Are you reading the same novel as us? He’s going back as a Morning Star when the strongest powers there are some scrubs meandering around in rank 3. Curse or not, they’re like dried weeds before him.

          1. But then again, if he used rank 5 strength openly, it would be like using a missile to kill ants – it would be obvious his only goal is showing off. Rank 4 strength is more than enough.

          2. No, if you think I misread your comment you should probably go start by learning how to read and write English first, because your point was terribly worded.

          3. Regardless they would probably associate his strength with rank four even if he weren’t crippled. Just like how in CD when the high gods were flying in around in the lower planes people just called them saints since they had no idea of the higher ranks.

      2. I’m also disappointed too. Although I know Leylin is capable of killing anyone in SC with his power already sealed, he came back just to tie all loose ends. It means that he is ready for a suicide mission, somewhere inside him already accepted defeat.
Anyways, can someone refresh me if there’s someone capable in SC to treat ancient curses?

          1. In contradiction to Leylin’s low morality he has a big heart to those who stuck with him, moreover, when he was less stronk. Knowing Leylin, author revealed he calculated, he has a plan… but I can think of who or what exactly can help him against the Allsnake curse in poverty stricken SC.

        1. Nah, it’s called holding a grudge. Some people hold them longer than others. He always meant to one day go back to the South Coast and wreck terrible vengeance on people who f**ked with him.
          .
Not a single chapter has ever shown Leylin to have a big heart. He doesn’t mind being nice to people if it doesn’t cost him anything and he’s not inherently cruel or malicious. That’s not having a big heart. It doesn’t contradict his ruthlessness or lack of morals at all.

          1. yep we are there… he always get his revenge when he’s sure of his OPness.
I thought ruthless people don’t have anyone by their side; Gargamel or the Glutton imprint for example. Compared to Leylin, they only have their heart for themselves.
Leylin sending servants free (also gave them the villa) / helping the monster acolyte with his revised ancient potions / sending his Fallen Star pendant back to Farlier village covers this topic. They return little to no gain for Leylin.

          2. And you forgot he saved Bicky for nothing in return just because he was close to her…

          3. How can their be a “lack” of morals with Leylin
In my photoreceptors there is no “lack of morals” just a different set of morals based on meticulous cautiousness fused together with curiosity in a hostile environment

          4. Ruthlessness is not having no friends, it’s willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve your goals.
            .
So if killing someone can make you stronger (i.e., his coins of Destiny), he’ll do it without hesitation, even if that person was a fantastic servant and helped him out a lot (i.e., his Grand Knights whom he made self-destruct). This doesn’t exclude him from being kind to people – as long as that kindness doesn’t hinder his true goals, it’s okay to do things on a whim. It also certainly doesn’t exclude him from raising loyal companions who can help him achieve his goals.

      3. That’s what disappoints you guys???
I’m disappointed in THE AUTHOR for somehow f*cking forgetting that he killed off Jayden AGES AGO in the ancient remnants of Magus Serholm. This is all sloppy shit.
Also, what viscount farlier bloodlines is he talking about????
His dad had more kids who had more kids who have, here and there, become mages? And now they reside in the south coast?
Idk, I just feel like this is too random and sloppy.

  1. So he still think about his descendant….
    Good for you leylin….
When i think about descendant, maybe leylin will make a copy about A.I.Chip and try to find the reason A.I.Chip fusing with his soul…

    1. …no, I doubt he will do that XD
While he sees his bloodline in a favorous light, if they truly rebel against him or threaten him in any way he would kill them without a single bit of hesitation. A copy of the AI chip would be a tool too powerful to give away, so he should not do that… of course I may be wrong XD this is just my feeling 😉

      1. Yeah, no way he starts handing out AI chips. Even if the magi he gives them to can’t pose a threat with them, it might let his stronger foes figure out how he’s gotten so powerful, which is too big a risk for no real benefit (and we all know how Leylin feels about lack of benefits).

    2. maybe he will do that when he gets descendants from a level 7 bloodline snake chick, who knows there’s exist snake dowager in other world besides purgatory world?

      1. He was also disappointed with Leylin backing out when opt to choose between his or Lilytell’s friendship/alliance… resulting Bosain to hole Jayden’s body.

      2. No that was another dude, Jayden was the arrogant genius from Abyssal Bone Forest Academy that got killed in Serholm’s secret plain, where Leylin got his Bloodline.
Edit: He might have lost his hand though, I don’t really remember.

    1. 116 is where he died. Even if he survived that, the secret plane self destructed in chapter 118 which killed even the Lilytell guy, who killed Jayden in chapter 116. Author messed up.

    2. Yeah, Jayden was dead and Kaliwei also died in school war when mc escape to do outside mission 3 years. It’s seem like A.I chip have memory damage, he should check it and his brain too for forgot this.

      1. Nah, Nyssa was the fugly face. Anna was the chick he played with when he took the long-term mission in order to sit out the war between his school and that other school. He left her with a bit of stuff and never saw her again.

      1. Nope. She’s only a human and has 30 years to live due to a side effect of anti-radiation plant. Although Leylin gave her something to contradict that poison, it has been over 200 years.

  2. Sorry but who tf are these people? George is his first friend? Nyssa is the turned fugly one and probably pretty now? Damien was… his first teacher??? Number 4 and 5… are these his soldiers he sent to protect his family? Kaliweir is who? Jayden is who? Jayden Smith? Gargamel is that supposed rank 4 baddie? Alric is that rank 3 that chased after him? So many people too little mental capacity to store them.

    1. I think Jayden was the aptitude 5 that arrived at school with him.
Gargamel is the ghost rank 4 magi from the ruins who was spreading a plague.
Your memory seems better than mine XD I had forgotten about Nyssa and Damien :p
(well, Im quite forgetfull so its not much of a compliment XD )

    2. Kaliweir is one of the people from his hometown who ended up at the same academy. Same as Nyssa. His return seems like a bit of a contradiction to what he said in earlier chapters where he considers sending Number 4 and 5 to help the Farlier family to have settled his debts to the family for basically taking the body of it’s only heir. On the other hand that seems consistent with Leylin’s behavior. There are stuff he says about himself but his actions seem to betray him by showing the real him.

It is possible that the Farlier family has grown quite a bit in status due to the support of a magus(Damien) and the improved knight training technique Number 4 and 5 brought with them.

    3. Kroft, Potions Master, was his first teacher. (Unless you count George who taught him the Knight techniques)

#4 and #5 are the branded swordsmen experiments which he bought when he was in the city of light.

Jayden was the high-aptitude “genius” who entered with him.

I think Gargamel is the spirit who was unleashed from the tomb and tried to kill him.

      George was his first friend.

Damien was his acolyte butler from the Light Magi city.

Forgot about Alric and Gargamel. (Probably some mage who annoyed him and the spirit from the tomb, but I can’t recall)

        1. Chapter 116 is where Jayde died. Even if he survived the Lilytell guy, the secret plane self destructed which killed the Lilytell guy and Jayden for sure (Ch. 118)

  3. Leylin be like: ” Son, say AI Chip in your mind….”

    And yea, jayden dieded

One thing though, leylin seems confident he can get to purgatory, has he the coordinate yet?

  4. Uh, both Jayden and Kaliweir died… Anyway, I hope George is somehow still alive and kicking. I really want to see how Nyssa’s doing. Exactly how many years has it been again? Probably something like 150, right?

I hope Leylin at least finds out how Anna lived the rest of her life.

Oh, and I suppose there’s no chance his old alchemy teacher Kroft is still alive. Bicky and Kroft were great.

    1. Seems like the autor or leylin forgot about that xDD Yehaa, i remember that both Jayden an Kaliweir of them are dead. just hope they doesn’t appear alive and kicking for no reason.
George and Nyssa depend of they managed to advance or if Nyssa’s body could endure long enought. Bicky should be alive and have advanced to rank 1 thanks to Leylin’s help. I just wonder about lenna or whatever was the name of the girl who has sex with leylin before he escaped the school with kroft help to avoid the war, she wasn’t in the school when he came back thought she should have flee in time.

  5. Didn’t the fight for the Wisdom Tree happen in the Central Continent?
Also, Jayden is dead. Even if he didn’t die in chapter 116, he died in chapter 118 when the secret plane self destructed.

  6. It may be something trivial but how did he get back to the South Coast from the Twilight Zone? Didn’t the teleport spell formation get destroyed when he left?

    1. The people of the central continent know how to go to the South Coast, when he first entered the Ouroboros clan, his mentor had someone track his origins and they seemed familiar with the South Coast. They just don’t go there usually because it’s like a 3rd world country.

Although it’s slightly far, at his current level it’s still easy to travel there just flying through the air.

Back when he was only level 2, he couldn’t do it because he didn’t know where to go exactly, it was too far for him, and there were too many dangers on the way. Though I guess he would have tried anyway if he didn’t find the teleport formation.
