Chapter 290 – The farther the better!

In Nie Li’s heart, there was no difference between the current Long Yuyin and the vicious woman from his previous life!

If they weren’t in the Skysoul Institute, Nie Li might’ve already engaged Long Yuyin in a life-and-death battle.

Everyone was dumbfounded as they looked between Nie Li and Long Yuyin.

This situation was too explosive. No one thought that Long Yuyin, who possessed the Blood Dragon lineage, would actually end up getting so miserably bullied by Nie Li. It seemed that Long Yuyin really had met her match this time!

It’s just that the scene earlier was a little…

Lu Piao couldn’t helping winking at Nie Li when he saw their strange posture. The things that just happened were indeed…a little…too fiery!

However, he had also noticed that Nie Li’s face was ashen and contained killing intent, so much that it even caused Lu Piao to tremble unconsciously. What was going on with Nie Li? It’d been a long time since Lu Piao had met Nie Li, but Nie Li rarely ever acted so angrily. Lu Piao felt that there was some sort of unresolvable bad blood between the two of them.

The girls in the class all exchanged glances. They never thought that Long Yuyin would actually throw away her own safety to try and take down Nie Li. It was even more unexpected that Nie Li would be strong enough to beat Long Yuyin.

He Yinyin pursed her lips and said, “Long Yuyin, that woman asked for it. She thought that her Blood Dragon lineage was very powerful, but in the end she still lost to Senior Brother Nie Li! That woman can’t be trying to attract Senior Brother Nie Li’s attention, right?!”

The more He Yinyin thought about it, the more convinced she became that there was something wrong with Long Yuyin’s head. Why would she purposely seek out Nie Li?

One of the girls couldn’t help asking in a mesmerised voice, “Yinyin, what do you think Senior Brother Nie Li is like?” Nie Li’s dazzling talent had moved her heart a little.

He Yinyin said in disdain, “Don’t think about it. With so many people eyeing Senior Brother Nie Li, it’ll never be your turn!”

Hearing He Yinyin’s words, that girl said in annoyance, “Who knows? I don’t see Senior Brother Nie Li being interested in you either!”

Jin Yan looked at Nie Li and tightly clenched his fist as annoyance filled his heart. In terms of physical strength, which Long Yuyin supposedly excel at, Nie Li had actually defeated her. That talent was simply too heaven-defying! No wonder Nie Li had entirely disregarded Jin Yan earlier. So it turned out that he had no place in Nie Li’s eyes!

Long Yuyin’s presence alone already made Jin Yan unhappy. Now that Nie Li had been added on top, he was even more unhappy.

Han Jing and his group stood some distance away, utterly shocked. Previously, they were thinking of how to make trouble for Nie Li; but now, such thoughts were totally banished from their minds. No one would want to provoke someone like Nie Li, who had so much natural talent. Not to mention the fact that if a fight did break out, they were definitely not in Nie Li’s league.

Wang Yang looked at Nie Li as his eyes filled with maliciousness and jealousy.

Venerable Redsoul lowly coughed and said, “Since you’ve found your partners, you should often train together to enhance your physical strength. Today’s lesson will end here, but you may continue with your training. The third lesson will be in three days.”

Venerable Redsoul then left the grounds.

Nie Li glanced at Lu Piao and Gu Bei and said, “Let’s go!”

Just when Nie Li was about to leave, Long Yuyin suddenly popped out from the side and stopped him. “You’re not allowed to leave!”

Nie Li coldly looked at her. What more did this woman want?

“I want you to stay behind and continue training with me!” Long Yuyin bit her teeth and looked at Nie Li stubbornly. She wanted to become even stronger and she knew that Nie Li’s strength could ignite the fighting spirit within her heart.

Nie Li glanced at her with loathing. “Get lost! I don’t have the time for it!” This woman was endless!

At the sight of this, everyone became dumbfounded.

Long Yuyin had just suffered such a huge loss and was humiliated to such an extent. Why did she want Nie Li to train with her? Did she have some loose screws in her brain? Was this woman a masochist, so that the more that she was humiliated, the more she wanted to present herself at his front doorstep? Or could it be that this girl had fallen for Nie Li?

He Yinyin furrowed her brows and said, “Long Yuyin, aren’t you a little too thick-skinned? Senior Brother Nie Li doesn’t want to deal with you anymore, and yet you still want to bother him!”

Long Yuyin glanced at He Yinyin and coldly rebuked, “This is none of your business. Get lost! If you dare say another word, I’ll throw you out!”

“You…” In her heart, He Yinyin was extremely infuriated. ‘This crazy woman!’ However, she didn’t respond to Long Yuyin and could only leave in frustration.

Nie Li coldly stared at her. “Long Yuyin, are you looking for humiliation?”

Long Yuyin’s gaze met Nie Li’s as she said, “I did not lose earlier, nor do I admit defeat. Unless you can win against me, we’ll continue to fight! If you managed to win, then regardless of what you ask of me, if I ever frown for a second, then my name is not Long Yuyin! If I win, I’ll return those three lashes back to you!”

Nie Li snorted. “Get lost! I don’t have any more time to waste with you!” He was prepared to move around Long Yuyin.

“You’re not allowed to leave!” Long Yuyin stretched her hand out to block Nie Li and kicked him with her left leg.

Nie Li immediately dodged. He was utterly enraged by this woman.

*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*

Another intense battle broke out as energy shot from their fists. Both Nie Lie and Long Yuyin’s speed were raised to the limits and only afterimages were left behind.

The two of them were like a buckets of gunpowder, exploding upon ignition. In just that short moment, they ended up fighting again.

Everyone was dumbfoundedly staring at the intense battle going on between the two of them.

Long Yuyin was maxing the potential of her Blood Dragon lineage. Regardless of attack speed or strength, everything was several folds stronger than before. Every attack was extremely sharp and precise.

*Bang!*

Long Yuyin aimed an attack at Nie Li’s chest, which he blocked with both arms. However, the powerful energy still forced him back several dozens of steps. Without the slightest pause, Long Yuyin jumped in again and rained another barrage of attacks at Nie Li.

Her attacks were like a raging storm.

Gu Bei furrowed his brows for a brief moment as he couldn’t help worrying about Nie Li. “Long Yuyin, that woman is really fighting with her life on the line!” He prepared to jump in at any time. If Long Yuyin really intended to kill Nie Li, then Gu Bei would definitely help him. Right now, he couldn’t care less about revealing his power.

Nie Li could only keep warding off Long Yuyin’s storm-like attacks as his heart became filled with endless rage.

He’d endured it again and again, but this Long Yuyin was simply endless.

“Since that’s the case, then don’t blame me for getting impolite!” Nie Li’s eyes flashed with a chilling light. “Since you’re asking for it, I’ll give you a thorough lesson!”

Nie Li absolutely won’t fear anyone of the same level!

Long Yuyin sent a burst of energy to her leg. Just when it was about to land on Nie Li, he suddenly sidestepped, leaving an afterimage.

“What?” Long Yuyin was sure that her attack was about to land on Nie Li, but then, her vision suddenly blurred and he went missing.

The next moment, Nie Li appeared at Long Yuyin’s right. He grabbed her lower leg with one hand, her thighs with the other. He lifted her into the air, then mercilessly thrashed her onto the ground.

*Boom!*

A huge crater instantly appeared in the training room.

Long Yuyin was disoriented from being smashed onto the floor. However, before she could react, Nie Li lifted her again and smashed her on another part of the ground.

*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*

Nie Li threw her again and again like a sandbag. After several rounds of smashing her around, he sent a round of concentrated attacks on her.

Unlike Long Yuyin’s attacks which were storm-like and fast, her attacks are filled with flaws. Nie Li’s attacks, however, were continuous and aimed from extremely crafty angles, calculated so Long Yuyin couldn’t block them.

Long Yuyin was smashed onto the ground, then tossed into the sky before she was back down on the ground, yet again. However, to the credit of the Blood Dragon lineage, her body was indeed powerful. Regardless of how Nie Li attacked, Long Yuyin only sustained superficial injuries.

However, since Nie Li began his attacks, Long Yuyin had found it extremely difficult to strike back.

Everyone was completely dazed.

After Long Yuyin ignited her Blood Dragon lineage, she began to stand with the advantage, attacking Nie Li so that he had no way to counterattack. However, after Nie Li managed to find a flaw, he was then the one on the winning side. Furthermore, his attacks prevented Long Yuyin from countering.

Everyone watched as the powerful and fierce Long Yuyin was beaten to the point that she couldn’t strike back!

This…

No one could find the words to describe their current state of mind.

*Bang!*

Long Yuyin landed on the ground. Although Nie Li’s attacks couldn’t penetrate her Blood Dragon’s physique, they still caused heavy damage. The bones in her entire body felt as though they’d shatter to dust. She bewilderedly stared at the ceiling, trying to figure out why she was so inferior to Nie Li.

Regardless of what they’d competed in, she’d utterly lost to Nie Li.

A deep sense of defeat welled up in her heart and two rows of tears flowed down.

She’d spent so many years being the strongest of her age, training like mad, and idolising strength. Today, her most prideful physique had been thoroughly defeated. She suddenly felt like crying.

So it turned out that her hard work and pride were nothing more than empty air!

“Heaven and earth are vast; countless experts roam between them. The likes of you wants to be proud and arrogant? Long Yuyin, today, I gave you a small lesson. Keep that prideful character of yours in check. Otherwise, even if I don’t take action, eventually there’ll be someone who comes along and teaches you a lesson!” Finishing his words, Nie Li couldn’t be bothered say more as he turned and exited the training grounds.

Long Yuyin sat up, wiped the tears from face, and bit her lips. “One must admit defeat when one’s lost. As I said earlier, regardless of what request you have of me, I definitely won’t frown for a second!”

Nie Li paused his steps and said, “Stay away from me! The farther the better!”

Finishing his words, Nie Li walked out.

As Nie Li moved further away, tears blurred Long Yuyin’s vision. Nie Li couldn’t even be bothered to give her a glance. In Nie Li’s eyes, was she worth less than dust? It was all just so funny. She’d always been a very proud girl, but in the eyes of Nie Li, she was nothing.

  1. Oookkaay question:
Who the hell is the principal of Holy Orchid Institute?(not the alchemist association’s)
-just a hunch, maybe the teacher of gu bei’s sister?

    Thanks for the chapter..

    1. Why would they be so clueless with regards to soul realms, cultivation techniques etc with an expert like that leading them? The principal being extremely powerful like you think is very unlikely.

    2. ….. what even led you to think that???? How would she even get to the nether realm if she’s from the Gu family and people of the realm can’t go to the nether realm???

      1. Although, one has to wonder, if the Nether God is watching over Glory City…Why on earth did he allow them to essentially degenerate into trash, by using broken and illogical cultivation methods?
He grants them protection, yet allows them to go rotten? Isn’t that utterly lopsided?

It’d be much easier for him to protect the “last vestige of human civilization” if he’d provide them with the tools to flourish on their own. 😐
and that’s how it goes when peeps don’t plan ahead too much, hohoho. Webnovels ahoy.

        1. The Nether God didn’t start watching over Glory City until Nie Li requested it of him (which was like 1 month ago in world of TDG). Only some human spiritual gods did, who were pretty destroyed. Also, why do you hate this series so much? I’ve seen you comment on nearly every chapter with hate towards the series, but you’re 290 chapters in and still reading it it seems.

          1. That’s wrong because Nie Li was wondering why the Nether God didn’t help in his previous life and the currently Nether God even hinted at already having an expert at Glory City before Li requested it. The only thing the Nether God did when Li asked for assistance is alert him that someone was already there.

          2. Well no since when Nie Li asked the Nether master to watch over glory city he said that he had already been watching over it under the behest of his friend, whose name he chose to keep secret.

        2. This might be off topic and if your not interested you can ignore this, But i was wondering if we could talk a bit about Light novels, and your take on whats good.

    3. well thats unlikely since he can beat fifth layered martial ancestors but yea im also very curious as to who it is. Maybe its just a plothole where the author thought to bring him in later but forgot about it. At this point people would only be interested in the principal if he were a super expert, but looking at glory city’s previous state thats kind of unlikely, unless he was staying on the dl. But yea more likely for it to be a plothole honestly.

  2. Now This is just a thought and if it happens everyone knows I called it but what if Long Yuyin joins NIE Lie’s Group but ends up going with Duan jian I mean there kid wud be seriously strong two types of dragon blood in it and even wings but again this is just a thought

    1. I think it’s playing match maker too hard. all the same it could happen his master could meet with him and get him to release his anger to her, followed by her timely death at the hands of the sage emperor.

    2. I think Gu Bei is much more likely. He’s already interested in her, they’re in the same class and the same sect, they’re about matched in strength (though he keeps his hidden), and they come from families of about equal status. Besides, we have no idea how quickly Nie Li will meet his friends from the Tiny World; it could easily be years.

    3. If I remember right, Duan Jian already has two types of dragons blood because his parents where from different tribes, so the child would actually have 3.

  3. Hey guys, I finally got around to making an account after months of of using WuxiaWorld.
First, thank you so much for the chapter.
Also, I’ve seen several comments where people have said you shouldn’t pity Long Yuyin because she’s killed so many people already and is not innocent. My question is where does it say she has killed so many people. I glanced over previous chapters, and so far, she has only been stated to have crippled her fiance (which is pretty ruthless already), but no where does it say she has already killed a bunch of people. She threatens on multiple occasions, but what 14/15 year only doesn’t throw out a death threat or two. It was even stated that she didn’t even intend to kill Nie Li with the three lashes as some thought, she just wanted to beat him. Of course, if I am wrong and missed something, please let me know.
Anyway, that is my two cents and it is a pleasure to speak (write) to you all 🙂

    1. yeah, to be honest, I feel like Nie Li is overreacting too much, and Long Yuyin might be cocky, but maybe misunderstood.
but then that could just be me lol

      1. What people don’t understand is that the characters are not Omniscient. They don’t know what the readers know.
In Nie Li’s eyes, even though Long Yuyin is young, her personality is still “evil”
In Long Yuyin’s eyes, she sees Nie Li as an ass who is superior to her and wants to prove herself because she has a superiority complex.

        1. Yeah i guess that is the issue in which we forget that we are readers and know things that they don’t and we be like ‘da f are you doing this and that for?’
Yeah pretty much she got superiority problems: pride.

    2. It was said before that she would use her family’s power to crush others, and when he beat her and gave her 3 lashes didn’t she go back into thought about how she used her family’s power to crush others. “crush others means death btw”

edited “Hu Yong was instantly enraged upon seeing the wound on her face. “Ying’er, what’s wrong with you? I heard that you were beaten? Who was it? I’ll exterminate his entire clan!”

At his words, Long Yuyin was stunned for a moment. Not long ago, such words sounded absolutely normal to her. Whoever dared to harm her would definitely have their entire clan exterminated by her. In the past, she’d believed such things to be absolutely normal.”

      1. When those words are said by kids, they are usually exaggerating them a bit. Sure, she can get normal families beat up and bullied. Outright killing? Kind of intense and would provoke a lot of infamy. Even if she’s relatively important, you’d find it hard for her to just kill anybody she wishes. I doubt she was even let off easily when she crippled her ‘fiance’. Instead, she’d probably be able to have her family apply pressure. With the state of the world they are in, I doubt she’d be able to easily get her family to kill people…

On the other had, once she grows up pampered like so, it wouldn’t be strange for her to act in such a way. If she grew up with the idea that her family could kill without problems, then yea, I can see how she’d be quite bloody.

In the previous sections, Nie Li had experienced mature Long Yuyin. His anger at her being so high and mighty and murderous stems mostly from her actions in his previous lifetime, including when she killed his master.

So, I kind of don’t see the point of people saying to kill her and all. She hasn’t even done anything bad yet… She does deserve some pity, since she’s getting punished for something that happens FAR into the future… like, I think it’s 90+ years ahead of current timeline…

        1. Sigh…this is kinda getting ridiculous. May I ask…what kind of kid would cripple someone? What kind of kid would waste their own fiance? Do you think her fiance was from a normal family? Powerful families only arrange marriages to other families when they can gain something. So her fiance’s family should be quite powerful, yet she still crippled him. What she has done, has already been said…and I won’t repeat it again >_>.

Though I will say this. In a world where strength and background is everything. And everyone arbitrarily has a value attached to them based on it; age has nothing to do with how ruthless you are. At the very least, in this story, the daughter of the silverwing family is an example of this.

If your value is lower than others, powerful families can kill you and no one will stop them (no matter the rules). Plus, powerful families/individuals don’t need to kill people in public. If there is no evidence, law enforcers can’t do anything…even if they know who did it.

          1. What kind of kid would cripple someone? A kid who grew up believing they had this power to do so and a lack of any read substance to disprove it.

Long Yuyin grew up with the notion she could bully others and that her status and family is powerful because it IS powerful and she COULD bully others since they WERE weaker than her. Nie Li changes that. He’s someone with a low background but DOESN’T let her bully him. With him there, she becomes aware of how she looks since she’s now on the side of the bullied.

Not even bringing up these types of world, it’s all about the character’s surroundings and how they grew up. You could justify a great many problems in these Xuanhuan stories just based off the surroundings of characters.

        1. I see.
I guess when I read those passages I didn’t really feel like she was the one responsible for causing the extermination, and it was more like the people around her would run off and carry out vengeance for her, so she was used to it.
Thank you for your responses. I think I’m going to choose to believe my version because otherwise, I won’t be able to bring myself to like her at all, and I already do like her… so that would be a problem.

          1. its still debatable how those facts happened, but in this story killing people isnt rare, and given the personality of hers, most likely she has a few kills under her belt at best

          2. don’t worry about it and just do what you feel is right….not everyone looks at something the same way…also just because she may have killed people isn’t why shes bad, In that world killing is like breathing it’s just the personality of her’s that we hate.

          3. I can definitely see that. I recently started to branch out and read more web novels, and one of the main things I noticed is that killing and death doesn’t seem to be too much of a big deal. But compared to some of the novels I started reading (the amount I’ve read doesn’t even compare to most of the readers on this website) TDG is comparatively less ruthless. My final guess would be that she has been indirectly involved in some exterminations, but she herself may not have actually done any of the killing, or at least on done a very little.
I think of it as a kind of like a ‘she is ruthless but has never actually killed anyone’ sort of thing, similar to how when the female characters are introduced as being seductive and flirty, the author always makes it clear that despite acting provocatively, they are still virgins

          4. That is true for them death doesn’t mean much unless we get the backstory or our mc is there, and then it’s important but then again you can only stop the injustice that you see and not everything the happens in the world…if you read DE you will get it xD.

          5. @Boredjester
lol… in your comment reminded me about THE ‘RUTHLESS’ RULER… oh if you asked why i remember, its because he is NOT ruthless at ALL but his subordinates, that does all they wanted (greediness, addiction , etc.) behind the back of their merciful ruler ,who only loves seeing his people and family happy, but in the end …… the ruler and his family were beheaded because of ‘their’ sins that those subordinates of his accused them… *sigh*

      1. Willing to kill and having killed are two very different things. Exterminating an entire clan was what she previously believed to be an appropriate response to someone humiliating her to such a degree, but she also mentions that she had never been humiliated to such a degree before.

        1. hahaha! man! you have the BEST point in that one!!!! I totally, TOTALLY agree with you in that one!
          .
          .
          .
But… its better that Nie Li did that to her because one day she might did what she ‘think’ is normal and never learn that what she is thinking is the worst and darkest beliefs of those ruthless peps… and she will fall in that steep once she steps on it and will never, ever have that chance to go back and contemplate about what is right and wrong….
          .
          .
still though, I totally agree with your keen eyesight and thinking man! hahaha

        2. So did you READ about how She CRUSHED HER FIANCEE’S BALLS Just because he was weaker than her???
Also don’t forget to include his Fiancee is from fairly strong clan.
So just IMAGINE what she’s doing to People that has no power.

        3. While willing to kill, and actually killing are two different things…it has clearly been said that she killed and beat people as she wished. Do you think she got known for being vicious just because she crippled her fiance? Crippling someone is simply a “beating,” they still haven’t died. Yet, she has admitted to beating AND killing as she wished…to satisfy her own arrogance no less. Her fiance is proof that she beats people as she wished. Yet do you still think she hasn’t killed as she wished? The author has no reason to make a statement that is only half true.

Please don’t assume that you know to what degree of humiliation is required for her to kill. In Xianxia, the things an arrogant person would kill for, is not the same things a normal person would kill for. Just because Nie Li is the first to give her such a level of humiliation, doesn’t mean she hasn’t killed people for lesser things. She also never specified humiliation as the reason she would exterminate a clan. She said, she would kill the clan of those who harmed her. Again, what an arrogant person considers as harm to them, is not necessarily the same as regular people. Do not forget that she wished to kill Nie Li and his family just for few insults at the beginning.

          1. You are being such a hypocrite. You just assume the worst of everything but anything assumed in her defense is invalid?

She never said she directly killed anyone and as far as we’ve seen she’s never engaged anyone unprovoked. Even before Nie Li taught her a lesson she didn’t show an impulse for beating people just to satisfy her own arrogance. But she will crush anyone that gets in her way or challanges her because she has such pride in her strength.

This means anyone she’s beaten or killed likely challanged her or otherwise did something a bit stupid to where they were at least partly asking for it.

Again you just make make up a giant death toll of a bunch of people she may have killed, assume they were all innocent, and decide she deserves everything she got.

Plus even if she has killed innocent people. I’ll bet you she’s done it far less than some of these other arrogant nobles who get off on beating people down. Because what she cares about is strength and everything else isn’t worth her time.

THAT is why she would hurt her own fiance. Because someone meant to be her partner would have to be strong in her eyes or he’s worthless. That’s different from a bystandard who she can just as easily ignore like a bug and move on.

          2. Real nice metazoxan…so you thing I’m a hypocrite who just making assumptions? That’s fine. But then, why do you base your entire argument around assumptions and contradictory statements?

“She never said she directly killed anyone and as far as we’ve seen she’s never engaged anyone unprovoked.”

Did she not go to the soul saint grounds and directly provoke Nie Li? When Nie Li defeated her the first time, and he wanted to leave…did she not block his path and attack him? She has always been the one to provoke him first.

“she didn’t show an impulse for beating people just to satisfy her own arrogance.”
” Because what she cares about is strength and everything else isn’t worth her time. THAT is why she would hurt her own fiance. Because someone meant to be her partner would have to be strong in her eyes or he’s worthless.”

You say she didn’t beat people to satisfy her own arrogance, but later contradict your own statement by mentioning her fiance. If she only cares about strength, to the extent that she would cripple her own fiance because he was weaker than her… isn’t that arrogance in a nutshell. Crippling him because she saw him as weaker and worthless…isn’t this is beating someone to satisfy her own arrogance.

“This means anyone she’s beaten or killed likely challanged her or otherwise did something a bit stupid to where they were at least partly asking for it.”

This is a blind assumption on your part, since the story says nothing remotely to support this.

“Again you just make make up a giant death toll of a bunch of people she may have killed, assume they were all innocent, and decide she deserves everything she got.Plus even if she has killed innocent people. I’ll bet you she’s done it far less than some of these other arrogant nobles who get off on beating people down.”

I would like you to point out where I made up a “giant death toll.” I was just repeating what the author said in the story. I don’t know how many people or clans she has killed. The idea that she committed clan extermination should really not be up for debate here. Cause a person who had not caused clan extermination, wouldn’t say they definitely had clans exterminated. She may not have done it personally, but ordering her family to do it, is the same as doing it herself. And committing clan extermination, because a single person/few people offended you, makes you a horrible person. With clan extermination you can’t avoid killing innocents.

I try to base my arguments on what has been said in the story. Not make baseless assumptions, then proceed to contradict myself.

I apologize in advance for this massive wall of text. I’m too tired to make it shorter.

          3. WRONG! What I said is not based on assumptions at least not blind ones. I’m making statements based on the behavior she has actually shown. Sure we still can’t say for sure but it’s at least better than blind accusations with no backing what so ever like saying she’s killed a ton of people based on one line that in no way says how many she may or may not have killed.

“Did she not go to the soul saint grounds and directly provoke Nie Li? When Nie Li defeated her the first time, and he wanted to leave…did she not block his path and attack him? She has always been the one to provoke him first.”

and what does this prove? No seriously how the hell does that back up your argument? In no way did she threaten his life. She was just interested because he showed such talent. In that chapter it’s said she went there because his sudden apperance in the ranking caused her to re-evaluate his worth and she wanted to prove she was still the true genius. But she did so without the intent to take his life and only wanted to defeat him honestly. Again she is very proud and arrogant but never within events we’ve actually seen has she shown an impulse to kill instead of a proper challenge. The worst she has been confirmed to do is hurt her fiance but again for someone as proud as her I could see her saying “if you aren’t strong you don’t deserve to be engaged to me” and thus attack her own fiance.

“You say she didn’t beat people to satisfy her own arrogance, but later contradict your own statement by mentioning her fiance. If she only cares about strength, to the extent that she would cripple her own fiance because he was weaker than her… isn’t that arrogance in a nutshell. Crippling him because she saw him as weaker and worthless…isn’t this is beating someone to satisfy her own arrogance.”

Again wrong! She didn’t do it to satisfy her own arrogance but because as someone who values strength above all else she couldn’t allow her fiance to be weak. In other words it wasn’t to satisfy her that she attacked him but because she couldn’t accept someone who she saw as weak. Her having that mindset does prove she is rather arrogant but again she hurt him specifically because he was her fiance and she couldn’t accept a weak one. That doesn’t mean she crushes every weak person she meets since most of them have nothing to do with her thus if they aren’t strong they are just completely not worth her time. Also given how he is still with her I’m guessing there was a lot more to that incident than rumors suggest.

“This is a blind assumption on your part, since the story says nothing remotely to support this.”

Not blind assumption. Educated guess. Given the behavior she has shown she is prone to accept challenges and is likely rather harsh after winning. But she also shown behavior to not pay attention to anyone who she sees as not worth her time. Like with Nie Li she didn’t bother with him until he got onto the board. So the blind assumption here is that in the past she attacked innocent people from weak families and beat them up or killed them to satisfy her own arrogance. Nothing in the behavior she has shown implies anything close to that.

“I would like you to point out where I made up a “giant death toll.” I was just repeating what the author said in the story. With clan extermination you can’t avoid killing innocents.”

Now you are contradicting yourself. First you say you never mention a giant death toll then mention all the people who you assume died because of her and you are making so many blind assumptions here I’m not sure if I can cover them all. First she said she “WOULD” do such a thing if she was humiliated greatly enough not that she had ever personally had it done. And she only said she would do so because her family has likely done so often which trained her to think of it as normal. If you were raised in a family of killers you would probably see killing people as normal. This doesn’t mean you are a bad person at heart it just means you were raised with warped values.

Proof is after Nie Li teaches her a lesson the though of using her family power to punish people sickens her. This shows that until then she had probably never thought too deeply about it because she had been raised to see it as natural.

“I try to base my arguments on what has been said in the story. Not make baseless assumptions, then proceed to contradict myself.”

Except you ignore everything said in the story that doesn’t back up your view and make baseless assumptions on all the bad things she may have done.

Neither of us can say for sure what happened in the past the story hasn’t shown us but what we can say for sure is what type of person she is based on her current actions and never since we met her has she tried to kill anyone or challenged anyone unfairly. All of her challenges to Nie li were fair and she accepted her defeat when she lost. She wasn’t happy about the losses but she didn’t make excuses or try to cheat when she lost.

          4. @metazoxan you forgot she kicked him on the chest despite of the two of them agreed to let go. If nie li is a different person that fight would escalate just from that cheap shot. you seem to forget a lot of things when it contradicts your view. better re read the past chapters and comprehend every word and stop making assumptions.

          1. Take Sovereign of the Three Realms. The MC was killed at the beginning for farting at a ceremony, true story.

      2. is that so? it just states that she believed it was normaler for those who harmed her to die… did anyone ever harm her? that’s just a random guess

      3. She said she could. Not that she personally did it or ordered it. I mean just look when she was bullied and didn’t plan to take revenge her fiance practically ridiculed her asking why she wasn’t going to do anyone and then took matters into his own hands.

Now imagine if someone humiliated her and she hadn’t been taught a lesson in humility? Imagine her family saying they needed to be destroyed for their actions. It’s doubtful she’d argue with them and hearing that her whole life it’s doubtful she’d find anything wrong with that line of thinking.

Because she had never been allowed to think differently. Besides given what we’ve seen of her temper she doesn’t seem to actively go after people unless she at least feels challenged by them and even then her first impulse is to prove she’s stronger not just have her family beat them down.

Given that personality you can’t just make the baseless assumption she’s killed “tons of innocent people” that some are just arbitrarily labling her with.

Lastly even if she is guilty of hurting innocent people she’s probably done it a lot less than most of the other kids from powerful families. Because again her only interest is her own strength so she doesn’t have an interest in bullying or killing the weak for fun unlike other nobles who will treat weaker people like toys. So at the very least she’s not as bad as she could have been given her enviroment and she deserves a chance to change which she is clearly trying to do.

    3. How far back did you go and read? Should you really be stating such things as facts, if you only “glanced” over previous chapters?

Here is the evidence plain and straight:

      Direct quotes from chapter 284

“The moment she gained an achievement in cultivation, she would mock the origins of others and serve beatings and killings as she wished.”

“At his words, Long Yuyin was stunned for a moment. Not long ago, such words sounded absolutely normal to her. Whoever dared to harm her would definitely have their entire clan exterminated by her. In the past, she’d believed such things to be absolutely normal.”

Served beating and killings as she pleased. Those who harmed her WOULD DEFINITELY have their entire clan exterminated BY HER. This makes it very clear she has killed many people…killed them because of her arrogance and background. She also threatened to kill Nie Li and his family. If Nie Li didn’t attack her pride, do you think she wouldn’t have tried it by now? If after reading this, anyone stills dares to say she hasn’t killed many people unjustly…then reading comprehension is not skill that they process.

      1. No it dosen’t. It says as she pleased but that just means she did it when she wanted without thinking it was wrong. that doesn’t mean it was a daily ocurance just that she had never seen anything wrong with it. Plus you are assuming every case ended in killing. it says beating AND killing. Meaning a majority could have ended with beatings and even then it’s only when she wanted to that doesn’t mean she did it randomly.

Given her personality it seems likely she had a habit of wanting to prove her strength every time she rose a level. Which given her stupidly strong body probably meant beating the crap out of people. Also remember you can’t take the way Nie Li says things seriously as he is EXTREMELY biased.

As for the clan extermination she just says she saw it as normal not that she ever ordered such a thing to be carried out. Think about it her fiance tried to beat Nie Li down despite her saying not to. If the people around her are that ready to crush people for her then of course she’s eventully start to see it as normal behavior considering everyone else was treating it as normal.

From what we’ve actually seen of her she is someone who values strength above all else. She will hurt a fiance she doesn’t think is strong enough to be worthy of her and she will challange anyone she wishes to prove her strength. But she ONLY does so to prove her strength and not with the intent to bully the weak. Even when she first met Nie Li on the stairs her first impulse was to prove herself and she even says in her mind she never planned to kill him.

If she hadn’t planned to kill Nie li who has no background and acted to arrogant with her what makes you think she killed every random person on the street who looked at her a little funny? Again I’m basing what I’m saying off of the behavior she’s actually shown not what the people around her have said about her or vague lines about her past actions without context.

    4. Anger blinds, so Nie Li can’t see that. He’ll have to forgive her eventually, but in the meantime he wants to avoid the issue, even though it’ll keep coming back until it’s resolved.

    5. Exactly from what has been said and what we’ve seen her do this is what we actually know about her.

      1. She is very proud of her strength and tended to look down on others.

2.Everytime she got stronger she would go out to prove her new strength. Nie Li states she beats and kills people but she only admits she saw that behavior as normal and it’s not stated how often anyone died. Some death is likely but it’s entirely possible most incidents ended in a beating and not death. You can’t just assume she killed all of them.

      3. She also mentions she saw clan extermination as normal but that only makes sense since even her fiance who she harmed in the past went on his own to punish Nie Li on her behalf after she told him not to. Given how everyone around her defaults to that it’s likely her family has always killed anyone that offended her regardless of what she said. Whether she personally ordered such a thing is not stated.

      4. We know from her behavior that killing is NOT her first impulse. When Nie Li first challanged her she says she never planned to kill him even if she won she only planned to teach him a lesson from the start. She even demanded the beating when she lost as it had been agreed on before hand. If she was as kill happy as people are acting like she is then her first impulse should have been to kill Nie li who didn’t have any background at all. She could have killed him and as far as she knew no one would lift a finger for him. But she still didn’t even think to do that.

5.Regardless of her past we know she’s seen how wrong she was and is honestly trying to better herself. A lot of people will do bad things especially if raised in an environment telling her it’s okay to do so. But despite that environment her first impulse is to challenge people to prove herself and she is open to seeing the error of her ways. So she deserves the chance to change herself.

  4. Thanks for the chapter XD

I get she became evil in the future… but right now, she’s still innocent….

I mean, it’s 100+ years of arrogance and slaughter that made her evil…. and she’s right now changing for the better…

Nie Li’s image from the future is just overlapping right now -_-

    1. Well try not to forget as well that he believes that she had sent that group to rough him up and threaten him. Even though they did it on their own volition he doesn’t know it. So atm to him she’s still up to her “old” tricks.

    2. She is already plenty vicious in her current life. Please go back and read chapter 284 thoroughly. Or at least read my earlier comments here. What is with you guys and this misunderstanding of imaginary innocence? It’s like you blacked out the finer details of an entire chapter from your minds; and refuse to accept/believe the author’s own statements in his own story. What is wrong with you guys? A female character receives some adversity, and all of a sudden readers decide to change her entire character history. Yes Nie Li is mistaken about her sending assassins after him, but that doesn’t change what she has done in the past (and no, by “past” I don’t mean her killing Nie Li’s master). >_>

  5. First thing, thank you for the chapter and good luck with those tests.
About Long Yuyin, I feel kind of optimistic though. I think she’ll change for the better and changed Nie Li’s POV just like Ziyun’s father.
I really hope my expectation was right. It’d be a waste to throw a character like Yuyin in just to be humiliated.

    1. I hope so too… though I feel like the humiliation is slowly overstepping the limits. we know nie li is prejudiced, but he has to give some kind of way out…
Otherwise it’ll leave a really, really bad taste :/

      1. Nie Li has told her repeatedly to not bother him and yet she keeps doing it. What more way out do you want? Unless she swallows her pride and puts all her cards on the table, Nie Li won’t know what is going on inside her as a person

  6. She is turning out to be a great character full of character development. That’s some good stuff there.

I bet you she will be begging Nie Li for dick soon but you can’t blame her, he is a god after all.

  7. ……Am I the only starting to fall for Yuyin?

M is good, and in all honesty, shes slowly turning into a girl that wants nothing more than to be paid attention to by Nie Li. Plus she isnt really falling into the stereotypes for xianxia villians, shes like a pachinko ball that lands in the spot right next to the stereotype.

  8. This is what I like about TDG atm; Nei Li can get emotional as fark, Long Yuyin is on the brink of either breaking or becoming a better person, and the fact that people are arguing and raging over these things means the story is good! Most characters aren’t one dimensional – In Nei Li’s previous life, he met the Long Yuyin that never got the thrashing she deserved, and in this life, he meets her and gives her the thrashing she needed to nip her in the butt. Thing is, because he’s so mad at her, there’s a 50/50 chance (imo) that he went too far and made her easier to perverse into something worse. If you just use the stick instead of the carrot and the stick, then someone might turn your stick lesson into brainwash and the stick.

    1. It’s not really about him being mad at her for the past, though. Certainly he hates her due to her being a horrible murderer in his past, but he already stated in a previous chapter that he didn’t intend to take it as far as he has now due to his master’s words. She herself instigated this by being a condescending, selfish bitch that won’t leave him alone. That’s what’s really sparking him to anger; the fact that even after he’s warned her, she still won’t lay off. So far, she doesn’t really deserve sympathy until she learns to step back and really reflect on what Nie Li has said to her.

Sure, he’s bullyed her, but only to get her to grow up and stop being.. well, the way she is. Everything else he’s done was in response to what she herself instigated in the first place.

  9. I’m starting to pity yuyin…… I feel bad for her, she is still a chich at her current age and could still develop beyter attidude if she were “helped” by “someone”.

    1. All villains should be pitied. That doesn’t mean you have qualms about crushing them thoroughly.

Long Yuyin is revealing her weakness to others. That’s a good starting point for friendships.

  10. Thanks for the chapter and may your college result be excellent. Wow, TDG chapters have way more comments than I remember.

Long Yuyin is one of the most interesting characters in this series, IMO. She’s been raised to have a bad personality, including threatening and crippling others and even engaging in sneak attacks and flying into a rage when she’s made to feel inferior. Yet at the same time, I think she realizes at some level that her attitude has problems and wants to be better, but she’s confused by Nie Li’s hateful attitude and unable to know how to relate to people other that with hostility, so she keeps defaulting back to her vices. That sort of “wanting to be a better person at some level, but being emotionally incapable of envisioning with that means in practical terms” aspect of hers is very human. In any case, we all know she’ll eventually achieve an epiphany and become a love interest. Hopefully she stays interesting after that happens.

  11. All the best for your college application and thx for the chapter. I hope the reason for his master dying isn’t the enmity that he is creating right now. But it is good that the author didn’t make her one-dimensional. It seems even she is capable of self-reflection.

  12. I love how his past life is coloring his vision a bit extremely. In the situation surrounding Long Yuyin and Nie Li, I would have to say I pity Long Yuyin more than I agree with Nie Li this time around.

while I admit it’s a big mess of misunderstandings, Nie Li is going te hardline approach while Long Yuyin is completely unawares of how she could have wronged him so badly. To her, she is realizing the folly of her youth which was her all-encompassing arrogance and cruelty to those weaker than herself.

However, the people who surround her (whether by choice or not, and in this case not) are ones who act just as Nie Li describes her to, this let her open her eyes and slowly become more moderate, but the people around her acting has given Nie Li the illusion that it is under her orders and that she is becoming more and more deserving of him bestowing death on her.

Long Yuyin is slowly waking up to reality and beginning to refine herself, as seen by her admonishing of the fiance-prick after Nie Li’s first words. she decided to change how she acts and thus noticed an improvement in her practice rate, following words that Nie Li had been told by his master. the one thing Long Yuyin can actually be considered better at than Nie Li as she has cleared her heart more than he has.

The crux of this part of the training arc at the soul institute would likely revolve around this misunderstanding between the two of them getting steadily worse until things eventually hit a tipping point. I just hope that Nie Li’s eyes clear up long enough that he can realise Long Yuyin is not as bad as he is making her out to be.

Again, Long Yuyin did not order or commit any retaliation against Nie Li, for any of the incidents where he has bested her, yet the people surrounding her give this impression when they assault Nie Li out of their own convenience. It is those people who deserve his scorn right now and not her, she still has too many future possibilities that have been altered as a result of him appearing when and how he did this time around.

  13. Reading this, and limp bizkit songs is playing in the background lol

    “Special. You think you’re special.
    You do.
I can see it in your eyes. I can see it when you laugh at me.
Look down on me. You walk around on me”

I do think hes taking it a bit too far. I think his previous master would end up talking to him and opening his eyes.

  14. Man… I can’t bring myself to NOT be so egotistical as to ask more chapter, but i do know the kind stress you’re going through, so i wish you the best possible result in your college applications.

  15. So I know you’re busy, translator. At least…a notice that there won’t be a chapter on a day would be helpful so we don’t check for nothing all day long 🙁 I appreciate all your hard work and of course you need to take time for yourself, but just a notice isn’t too much to ask 🙁 Thanks.

  16. the author is really annoying with his plot…
Dear Friends, many thanks to the Author, Translator(s), (Editors), (Donors) for the awesome chapter! With lots of love, Jack

  17. Thanks for the chapter.

Regardless of attack speed or strength, everything was several folds stronger than before.
    – severalfold stronger

However, the powerful energy still forced him back several dozens of steps.
    – back several dozen steps. / back dozens of steps.

  18. You know, I don’t really hate Long Yuyin. Sure, she’s arrogant and a bit of a douche, but she’s steadily getting better and I feel like she wasn’t even that despicable to begin with. Maybe she was just misunderstood and feared because of her character while she wasn’t all that bad all along. I don’t know. I could be biased because I’ve seen her reflect and all, but it just feels that way.
