Personal Recommendation: Skyfire Avenue

Skyfire Avenue is unique in the way Tang Jia San Shao approaches the story. Unlike his other novels, the main character in this novel starts off strong and there’s less focus on him powering up. Instead, the novel has much more world building and foreshadowing about the ultimate villain, similar to a western epic fantasy. Moreover, Tang Jia San Shao did a very good job in developing the setting and characters in the first few chapters through showing, and not telling, which is a major hurdle for many new readers to overcome. Finally, this novel not only has cultivation and super powers, but it also has mechas, which are awesome.

I personally recommend this novel to any fan of Tang Jia San Shao’s works, as it is in my opinion, the greatest work to date. This novel is even translated by an awesome translator here at Wuxia World, Xiao Lai. So go ahead and check it out!

88 thoughts on “Tang Jia San Shao” - NO SPOILERS

    1. 86 months of consecutive daily releases. god danm, dude put the term “writers block” to shame.

also i agree, “skyfire avenue” is the shizzle

      1. If we say that he has been writting every day since 2004 and that he has written at least 30 million words in his published works… then he had to write a bit more than 6500 words every single day, for more than 12 years!!! That’s insane. You can write a lot in one good day, but every single day… just wow.

        1. Well, he properly writes multiple chapters in one day and then stock up on chapters, so even though he has published a chapter everyday, it doesn’t mean he has to write 6500 words every single day, I mean, even the best authors have writers blockade sometimes. That doesn’t make it any less amazing though, just wanted to point it out.

          1. I think the thing that this author relied on was releasing different novels at the same time rather than focusing on a single story. Which allowed him to switch things up and prevent potential writers block. It did after all not say he released a chapter a day of the same book.

  1. Good stuff. Can’t wait for when it’s Er Gen’s turn…

Not saying this guy isn’t cool, but I guess I’m biased because ISSTH is my favorite novel here. XD

    1. -At this rate Wuxiaworld is going to become far more than just a site for translation, but a culturual hub for all things related to Chinese Novels, it’s a very exciting idea.

Just imagine hving a one-stop-shop, as it were, a gateway into chinese literary culture through Wuxiaworld.

Now that is something I would like to see.

  2. Amazing work, 11/10, the formatting and writing is perfect. It looks like the thing you’d expect out of the #1 news agency or something, really well done RWX and team!

  3. Damn… There are so many novels that haven’t been translated, and non of the translations that are being done aren’t finished. Many have only completed a handful of chapters. Part of me feels that learning chinese would be easier than waiting for all these to be translated.

  4. Just a FYI, about 7 Yuan to 1$ historically if you need to convert into US$. So, 50 million Yuan in royalties is between 7-8 million Dollars.

i.e. he’s not doing badly for himself!

  5. This guy must be a robot…
Come on, 12 years publishing everyday? This is impossible!
AND HE STILL HAS TIME FOR HIS FAMILY!
Still waiting for people to start translating his novels…
He is a REALLY creative guy…

    1. The machine gun novelist should be his name, it’s nice to know there are those awesome people out there it gives you inspiration to become someone great too.

    2. Yea, I was wondering how much time he and other Chinese Internet authors actually had for their spouses? Like, they often release multiple chapters every single day. How do they have a life? O.o

    3. Quite a few of his novels are being translated. 5 of them are being translated if I’m not wrong. Mad God sounds quite similar to Martial God Asura from the summary. Divine Throne is SYWZ which is being translated. Doulu Dalu is also being translated but I don’t remember where. COL, HJC & Skyfire Avenue are on WW which is known to everyone.

  6. Wow, you guys done an awesome job collecting these information’s! I can’t believe that i read every since word written~ Teach Zhang Wei is really an interesting person.(not like i knew of him before i read this) You guys done a great job, honestly! 😀

  7. just curious but why are the novels currently being translated below the ones that are not? oh Chrono order missed that at least add links to sites that are translating them?

  8. This is supremely well done Ruze and I’m VERY happy that you did this. I learned a lot and my respect for the entire Chinese light novel scene just went up several notches. Thanks for you efforts!!! I’m looking forward to future releases of these articles <3 <3 <3

  9. This guy is insane, 7 years of confirmed daily releases. It’s like he doesn’t even need to think about how the story should progress, just knows it and types it out. If only ordinary fantasy writers were like him (looking at you GRRM).

  10. The Kind Death God… I didn’t know there was a novel translation of it XD

    Thanks for the info XD

Also, if these kinda things are gonna be done more often, maybe this site needs an “Author’s Spotlight” section

  11. I use to think that I have a lot of imagination, but today I notice I notice i was a frog in a well. Thank you for this work, it’s really hepfull.

  12. Dang, this guy really is a god. It makes me want to go and read more of his works.
This was very interesting and informational, thanks a bunch for compiling and writing it up for us, Ruze!

    1. Yeah, same here, there was just something about his style… I didn’t enjoy it enough to keep reading. That said, I still read quite a bit of his stuff before I quit, so he still stands on top of the piles of authors that I quit after the first few chapters.

      1. Then Read Skyfire Avenue! It’s completely different from the other novels. It focuses more on character interactions and plot but the fight scenes suck as usual. Tang Jia San Shao can’t write battles. IET and Er Gen are much better at that.

  13. I like that you put links to the respective translators for each of the works. Thanks for the hard work, I look forward to the next edition of this!

  14. douluo dalu ….. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! this manhua was one of the best I have read!!! Really!! COL, that mage kid, SA, Zeus, and then Jewel master?! I can’t believe I was reading this author’s work and I don’t even know his personal Bio!

  15. Thank you so much! I’ve honestly been trying to find information about my favourite Chinese lightnovelist for ages but it was all in Chinese. This is the answer to my prayers! So lucky that TJSS was the first one to be done at that! Thanks Ruze for the great work! It’s so detailed at that. I can’t wait to read all his works once they’re translated. ^.^

  16. Awesome idea. Great work. Readers should know, and deserve to know, about the authors of the novels they read and love.

The only novel read is Douluo Dalu and I plan to read it’s sequels. I guess I will give some of the others a try later on. I tried reading HJC and SYWZ, but found them not to my taste.

It would help if, when mentioning the writing/publishing of a novel, you could also include a little information about the novel’s popularity, it’s general ranking during daily releases, and it overall reception among readers. Since DD is mentioned as the flagship novel, one can imagine that DD was the best novel up to that point, and was immensely popular. But I doubt all those prior and afterwards were received just as enthusiastically throughout.

  17. Good work on all the information. As for me, I’ve never been a fan of any of his works, always loss interest in them after a while and at some point I just stopped reading it. I tried to like his works but just couldn’t, kept getting bored of it or annoyed of it.

Er Gen is one of the only authors that I have nothing to critique about, except for minor things.

  18. Thank you so much for the post, Ruze! I had no idea he’d written so many of those novels– he really deserves his title. Skyfire Avenue has been amazing, so I’ll definitely have to check out his other works now.

  19. Amazing. He is really incredible. Thank you so much for creating this piece, and for this series so that we can know more about the authors who create the novels we read.

  20. Chinese authors really work their ass off , it’s really impresive .
I’de personally like if they could take it slower , to get an even better story ,but i guess there’s just too much competition.

  21. Now i know why “Child of Light” reads a bit…immature…because it was a “first work”!

I wish Ren and the others would pick up “Doluo Dalu” and/or “Space Speedster Hen”

Doluo Dalu is basically abadoned on BlueSilver Translation with 1 Chapter every Month or 1 1/2 Months… the other one sounds really interesting. And im surprised that Wuxia World is translating so many Novels from the same Person ( i never bothered looking it up xD)

    1. In reality they release an average of 1.5 chapters per week! Its a bit lower than some time ago but its still a lot more than many other novels out there. Especially if you consider the length and that each chapter equals 3 normal chapters of other series!

So I’d say its far from abandoned! Plus they are some of the first translators around and did the series right from the start!

  22. “All of the novels written by Tang Jia San Shao have been officially published in physical formats.” ─ So, now they just have to bepublished in physical formats in English (or any other language). That would be great (at least, if they’d be as cheap as they are in China).

  23. Most of the translated novel of Tang Jia San Shao really irk me with his MC

Child of Light – MC being very naive and childish and cant really stick to his personality and changes based on the Author whim

Shen Yin Wang Zuo – Super Duper Cringe worthy kind MC that think White is White and Black is Black Human is Good Demon is Evil listen to Daddy and kill all Demon!!

Doulou Dalu was good for a while then it just went down hill for me and i drop it sadly.

    Would love to read
Magic Chef of Ice and Fire
    The Kind Death God

If only the translation would be slightly faster but beggar cant be choosers oh welp…

  24. wow! He really deserve the title “KING”. I wonder what would other authors do to surpassed it? ^____^. I guessed two or 3 chapters a day for a lot of years… Salute !!!! to the KING! Oh men, even the quality of his works, I mean the way he forms paragraph and sentences is awesome, not the simple giving out of information but also letting you easily imagine them and experiences the world he created with each word wow i mean wow ^___^. Kneel and respect ^_^
